To clean, or not too clean?
Billhag replied to firebladejedi's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Mark Leave it as is ......and stop creeping up on me and beating the crap out of my one when we're trooping -
The mere mention of the word 'recast' will ALWAYS provoke debate no matter what. My personal opinion is that we should always protect an artist / prop makers unique work regardless of whether its considered 'official' or 'unofficial' by Uncle George and his team. These talented people have poured the heart and soul into bringing something into existence that in many cases could only be found on paper or in a CGI programme somewhere and should for this achievement alone deserve the respect and protection of the communities that they are involved with. The Stormtrooper costume is in many cases is a very grey area. With the exception of 'fan made' or scratch built sculpts, all screen derived suits originated from the same sources, which no matter what way you slice 'n' dice it was recast from Lucas originated parts. This is where the ground gets shaky for some people, because they don't consider the person who first recast the Lucas parts of having any rights over their work because they never had permission to reproduce and distribute a design that was and is affectively owned by LFL. No matter the rights and wrongs of this stand point the fact is that without Matt -TE we would not have had GF, AP, GINO, and certain parts of RT-MOD and the progression and evolution of the hobby would be less advanced then it is right now. As Nathan said, the genie is out of the bottle now and we can't put the cork back in, its all gone way too far for that, so the only thing anyone can do now is to educate, inform, advise and hope that others will see things for what they are and make good use of the information that they have been given.

Dan Laws new ESB Stormtrooper Helmet
Billhag replied to firebladejedi's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I love this little bullet / oval detail in the tear traps I think you'll find that TM as had this detail incorporated in his helmets for quite some time now definitely well, well before Dan reintroduced back into his molds -
God!!, …I know this will sound REEEEELLY cheesy but I’m totally shocked by this. I really am. When I was asked by Paul to be a member of FISD staff I was completely overwhelmed that someone would consider ME for such a prestigious role For crying out loud, this place is one of the main reasons that I was able to become what I love so dear, namely a fully fledged Imperial Stormtrooper. I can honestly say without the help, the passion, camaraderie and total willingness to share that everyone as shown me on this board I know that I could never have achieved this. ‘Troopers Helping Troopers’ may sound corny to some but it’s a phrase that sums up beautifully what I truly believe in and if any of my actions, advice, or assistance was able to help just one person, then I was able to pay back just a small part of the debt that I owe to so many that have helped me in so many ways. Thank you so much for putting me forward for this accolade, it truly means a lot to me. Thank you

Guys Mark ain't kidding, I nearly had a cardiac arrest when he put his chest plate on the floor, stood on it and started moving it back and forth like a skateboard I also had to fight him off for most of the troop as he kept on sneaking up and skuffing most of the parts on MY armour with his DLT-19 when I wasn't looking <_< .....the Ba$t*rd!!. Now is that anyway to treat a beautiful TM? Mind you, I've only myself to blame as I did promise him back in March that I wouldn't polish it and I would let it weather naturally, but it just ain't weathered enough for Marks liking....the sadist

Is this holster OK for EIB
Billhag replied to darren1970's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Wyatt Just checked the EIB page again and made some updates but the only one on six is the Nordic Garrison (one of those is 'Inactive') ......the UKG still as 14 -
The outside shot of John's armour shows the blue buttons a bit clearer and the bright sun light also gives the black ones a greyish tone which could confuse a few people

Bucket question
Billhag replied to naatsirhc's topic in FISD Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) Requirements
Christaan Blacking out the inside of your helmet would not effect your submission for EIB. As Damian said, any mods inside the helmet are acceptable as long as they don't alter the visual appearance from the outside. As a side note, you may want to spray / paint the first coat white as a few guys have mentioned that putting black directly on the inside of some helmets gives a dull greyish effect from the outside. Just a thought -
...What the f...... Well thank God that our 'Boys in blue' are a bit more reasonable and cut us a little slack when it comes to tropping with blasters. I wouldn't be an happy bunny if they tried to take mine away, I can tell ya

Looks like us Brits will be OK, we don't mind wearing 'White' any day of the year regardless of superstition .....saying that, I do prefer a nice powder blue once in a while
