  1. Agreed. Move the drop boxes out so that the outer edges are lined up with the outer edges of the belt.
  2. It's a custom kit made to Disney's specs. Obviously ROTJ-inspired but with details (frown, handplates, etc.) that most of us here would easily spot as ANH. More details here----------
  3. I rubbed mine (tkboots) with newspaper. If you went with black-painted-white jodhupers, it seems you can just scrape a bit of the paint off in random places.
  4. I agree with Dennis. Drop the weight first, then build your kit (or have it built) to your reduced size. If nothing else, being able to wear it will give you some motivation to keep the weight off.
  5. If he were actually dead. I couldv'e sworn I saw him at McDonalds the other day.
  6. Absolutely not. Take a look at the CRLs: http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt
  7. THAT is freakin' hilarious!!! I didn't know C3PO was such a bada$$, and the dumb look on Ackbar's face as he deals some dual-wielding damage is priceless! But I digress. The white stormtrooper lightsaber (which I own and have occasionally carried) is as I recall is classified as a non-canon accessory. What that means is you likely won't get approved by your GML if you submit pics with it, but depending on your local garrison you can carry it at non-canon events. More discussion on the topic is here: http://forum.whitear...?showtopic=7475 As for the general topic of TKs and lightsabers, this was put to a detachment vote and the results were incorporated into the CRLs. Again, the path of least resistance is to get approved without it first then carry it as an accessory if you like. http://forum.whitear...showtopic=11873
  8. It's not necessary to build a TKC. You could just get approved as a regular TK (without the lightsaber), then carry the lightsaber at non-canon events as you see fit.
  9. Or get a local garrison member to buy one (or a few) and gift it to you.
  10. I would also clip the belt corners, and lower the straps on the shoulder bells - the ones that cross the biceps.
  11. Look here: http://forum.whitear...?showtopic=4980 The CRL you quoted is a Centurion requirement. Basic 501st acceptance and EIB don't require it. If you are going to go with screen-accurate stitching, I recommend not using Nomex but instead picking up a set of short silks/satins. Otherwise, just use some elastic handstraps glued to the underside of the handplates. I have two sets of ESB gauntlets - one set with short satin gloves and accurate stitching (screen-accurate), another set with elastic handstraps and Nomex gloves (trooping practical). While the screen-accurate set looks great and is good for photo shoots, the practical set is, well, more practical. Much easier to get on/off, pick up small objects, and no riding up at the wrist or stitch-breaking every time I make a fist. With the accurate set, it got to the point where I had to resew my gloves after every troop.
  12. Also, now that there are a couple of RS Props build threads in progress, RS should probably be added to that list.
  13. At that size, I'd definitely take a close look at Darth Aloha's RT Mod build thread.
  14. There was a guy at DragonCon last year who built a full-sized, fully-articulated battle droid made of wood. We had it on display at the 501st table. I'll have to dig around and see if I still have his business card.
  15. Play nice, gentlemen.
  16. Tricia, look here: http://whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=11538 Also, please post a brief introduction in the New Member Introductions area.
  17. I've also had to replace my vario pliers because I bent (and actually broke) them from overuse and just squeezing too hard. Still, I really like the precise nature of them - for me the result was a lot fewer ruined snaps because I apparently can't hammer in a straight line. Nowadays, I use them in conjunction with the anvil/setter tool. I get the snap started and in place with the pliers, then I really hammer it down with the anvil and setter. Best of both worlds.
  18. My thoughts exactly.
  19. That is pretty cool, and would make a unique display piece.
  20. Thank you for doing this, Luis. As a clarification, both sets under comparison are ATA kits - correct?
  21. Robert (aka "zsavk") did one of the few T/MC builds I've seen here. Although I haven't seen him here lately, he would be one to ask: Also, it's always good to contact the seller directly for those types of questions, which of course would be Tray:
  22. Please say you'll make it to DragonCon someday soon - you'd be a one-woman costume party.
  23. I'm not a TKC expert, but I think you look great.
