TK-80866 Requesting ANH Stunt Centurion Status[AP*][75]
svache replied to svache's topic in Request Centurion Status
lol I doubt you would, Glen.. you're pretty precise in the stuff I've seen from you -
In the FAQ I found a minor typo.. it says "form" instead of "from" at the "what are imp. stormtroopers" answer (at the end: "'form' the early part")
-
No problem. We left the shin alone, it was a heatgun and using a bit of pressure while gluing so it would stay in place.. If you look real close at my sniperknee, you could see that it has been deformed a little bit due to the heat (kind of like a S shape) but it's so little that it's not noticeable

Congrats! And I agree with the rest, go for centurion next -
From what I've been told it's not normal placement but it is something that does happen a bit with the AP sniper plate. We had a similar problem with my plate (also AP) and opted to make it level, even though that would mean it would not align up 100% like it should. I would, if I were you, bring the (for the viewer) right side a little bit up (so when wearing it would be the left side (or outer side)) and/or the other side a little bit down so it is more aligned. You might even want to make use of a heatgun to get it better fitted. In the end it looks much better aligned

Ear, lend us a hand would you....
svache replied to Jreeveo's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Depending on how much you overdid it, you might be able to still fix it by pushing it into place and make it fitting while placing the screws. Remember, the ones in the movies were not perfect either -
Yup I noticed it too, looks pretty neat!

The last hole is actually the 5th hole that my buddy accidentally trimmed out along with the rest, it's supposed to be closed. We filled it up but that does make it look a little bit odd. -

In regards to the frown as mentioned earlier by Mathias, I know it should be a triangle but I couldn't help but notice this on a recent centurion approval: http://i1190.photobu...61F308ED1.jpg I did give it a go and added a small bit to the frown so it's more like a triangle: -

Thanks, Stefan. I still have hopes I could make it, regardless of my size. btw, I just noticed in the first picture (of my last post) that the left bridge (for the viewer) was a bit loose on one side. Just in case that this would be the next issue (lol), I took the liberty to add some glue it and make another pic as proof that it's like it should be: -
I have another armor laying around here for someone else, it's trimmed only.. would be cool if I could finish it up in just two days for approval but I kind of doubt that's going to happen. Just a few days left, and so close.. I sure hope we can make it to 300 EIB's

Well, I do have a tighter shirt, I just don't like wearing it. The one I like to wear is a 2XL, the tighter is an XL like my regular shirts. Imagine an apple with toothpicks for arms and legs and you'll have a bit my body (kind of exaggerated idea but you get the point why I don't like wearing the tighter shirt). So anyways, I took the liberty this morning to have my wife take a couple of pictures with that tighter shirt. I am only wearing the upper part of the armor, so you might see some boardshorts in the bottom, I am not wearing a neckseal or helmet in these pictures. I figured this wouldn't matter as it is about the arms in this case.. Arms slightly bend to show where the elbows are: Arm a bit from the body to show more in detail: Arm up: I hope these will work better... -
Vern is right, the ATA is indeed quite uneven in the bottom. I see the same thing happening in the ATA bucket of a buddy of mine, and like Vern also correctly mentioned, the AP is also a bit of a different story. My armor is an AP and that too needed glue on the trim in order to stay nicely in position.

While I cannot and will not argue about the fact that they did not have the crotch painted in the movies, it was not mentioned in the CRL, nor was it mentioned in the recently voted amendments.. so technically... Anyways, I did get some sandpaper and lightly sanded the rivet until clear: We did anticipate the detonator clips earlier today so I tried to do something about that in the afternoon: I wont argue about the decals or the frown mesh either. I had some spare decals (well, not really spares, they're for someone else's armor so I just have to order new ones) so I removed mines and added the other ones. Thankfully this time around it went a lot better. I also removed my frown mesh and added a new frown mesh (btw, it was no paint splatter but some glue residue): As for the forearm/bicep discussion. The only thing that can be done is bringing the forearms up. We did bring the biceps down.. most of the pictures (the ones I am holding my belt with the stone wall behind me) were taken first. Then we realized I was not standing with my arms on the side (meaning like the first with bucket on) and we decided to first bring the biceps down. We added a different strap on the inside and went to the max we could. In total there was about an inch added, the biceps are now hanging a few millimeters on the inside of the bells, if we were to move them any more down, you would see the black of my arm between the bicep and bell and I don't think this would be a good idea. As for the forearms, Eric is right, those should be brought up. However, I would need to see how to do this because, right now, I am getting small "armor bites" on the upper part of my forearm (towards my elbows so to say) because the forearms are simply too tight (they were made as big as possible, they're just tight to begin with.. I could, of course, add wider cover strips on the forearms but then I wouldn't be complying either because of the width restrictions of the cover strips). And when you bring the arms up (believe me, I tried to see how that would look), then I would show a lot of my wrist.. So all in all I would agree, AP is too small for someone of my size. That much is true. But really honestly, seeing how there's way over 1800 USD into this armor (this is not just the armor, of course, this includes all extra's I bought for it in order to get it to what it is now), I simply cannot justify it to my wife to buy another TK armor already (especially not since there is a TD on order as well lol). I think we (I had a lot of help from TK5707) did a great job on this armor, I'm really proud of it but I do think this is going to be as good as it gets. Fact is, my legs and arms are too long, and my waist and chest too wide.. there's nothing I can change about that, sadly enough. At this point I'm pretty sure that whatever I try with the armor size wise, if I correct it in one place, it will show in another. -
Questioning Centurion CRL regarding Boots.
svache replied to rapstertee's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I'm sorry but I think you can hardly make the comparison between a sandtrooper and a few stripes on the boots of a clean TK. By that sentiment you might as well skip the hand painted helmet and get the clean look because the hand painted looks messy too. I mean, where's the end. I'd go with Derrek's statement and say scuffed is a nice middle ground.. personally I think it's too bad that it has been changed. -

Looking good! Although I don't think it matters for EIB (also because you attached it the correct way), I do think you might want to change the holster over time. I'm guessing you're using the holster provided by AP, which I originally also received. I gave it away to someone else since I felt it was too flimsy and a bit cheap material and more like an ESB holster (although, again, you correctly attached it to the belt for ANH usage). You'll be happy to have a more sturdy one that is made of real leather (the one from AP is (or at least the one I received) not from real leather from what I could tell), that doesn't fly around when you have your blaster in your hand -

I figured the no-return edge on the forearms was pretty clear in several of the other pictures, but just in case I made a separate picture and added it. I'll wait responding to the other comments until later -
Armor= AP Helmet= AP Blaster= Hyperfirm Height = 6'1" Weight = 185 lbs Boots = TK Boots Canvas belt = Trooperbay Hand Plates = Karin's (Sonnenschein) flexible ANH white rubber hand guards Electronics= Aker + IComm Neck Seal = Trooperbay Holster = Unknown, used from Daetrin This time it's not as much pictures as during my EIB application. I kind of went overboard with the 79 pictures haha (still 45 47 (I forgot 2 pics) pics this time, though). As far as I know all the suggested changes from the EIB application have been addressed. Helmet has been re-painted, ammo pack's rounded corners have been redone and rivet placed in different location, and so on You may notice I have borrowed some pictures from my previous topic but that's only because nothing was changed on those parts (think about the blaster or S-trim on the helmet (in the case of the latter, you might still see a messy vocoder but this has been repainted as the other pics will show) to name a few). Front, bucket off: Front: Left side: Rear: Right side: Bottom: Inside: Bucket: Blaster: Action: I hope these covered everything

I played some MMO's a loooooooooong time ago, forgot the names lol, it's been too long. Last year I wanted to give it a shot again with SWTOR but I gave up on that after several months as I got really bored by the game, and never even thought about playing MMO's again, I was too disappointed. Now, however, I actually re-installed SWTOR last night and decided I want to give it a shot again sometime this week or the next, just to see if there is any improvement and if I should cancel my subscription (had it running all year long without even thinking about it, talk about a waste of money lol).

I heard the news last Friday morning, I only just got home from dropping my 3yo daughter off at her school (she attends preschool at an elementary) and I was quite shocked when I turned the TV on for some news.. When I heard the stories of how people were waiting for their kids and that by the time the last child was united with the it's parents the other parents were told that their kids did not survive, I fell in shock. I immediately made the connection to my own daughter, asking myself questions "what if I was standing there, waiting for my daughter and she wouldn't come out?".. Needless to say I couldn't exactly keep my eyes dry, it hurt me so much. And it still does when I think about such a situation. I cannot imagine what those people must go through, such horror The rest of the day, and most of the weekend actually, I had a heavy heart. Thinking about what happened there. We had a troop the same night, and two more the day after on Saturday and I have been seriously doubting whether or not I should go to those troops because of my emotions. Eventually I decided I should go, that it would matter twice as much to give the kids there a great time, to make them smile and make them happy. And it did matter, for the kids but for me too. Ever since the event I have not seen any anti-gun posts on FB and elsewhere because of what happened, the only posts related to the event and guns where pro-gun posts and that kind of confused me because, "why was everyone all of the sudden posting so much about that guns were not the issue? Did anyone say it was? Why would anyone say that? Isn't it obvious the guy just went crazy? Isn't it obvious he could have gotten a weapon elsewhere if guns were banned? Didn't they hear about what happened in China with that knife incident, that there were no guns involved in that incident?" And so on... well, no anti-gun posts until one person started yesterday with anti-gun posts and then it became clear to me that it must have happened more over the weekend, that I was simply blessed to have either missed it or have people in my list who are wiser than that. I'm originally from the Netherlands, guns are banned there as some of you may know, and not just a little bit either, even the props we use, such as the E11 blaster, are just as much banned as real weapons. But even there, if someone wants to, it would not be hard at all to obtain a weapon. I know this first hand, not because I ever sold or bought one, but simply because I did see certain things when I was still in school... yes, there were guns in school in a country that has guns outlawed to the max.. then why would these idiots think a ban in the US would actually make a difference? And even if the US were to successfully ban guns, there are so incredibly much weapons around already, both legal and illegal, it wouldn't make a difference anymore.. no difference at all, except for those who want to protect themselves against those idiots who already have weapons and cannot get any weapons anymore. Having said this, I also seen quite a few people call for teachers to carry guns. And while I agree that it might make a difference (although I do think it cannot be proven if it would have mattered in this case, or in any other case, simply we never had it at hand and simply because it is one thing to carry a gun but a whole other to actually aim and shoot it at someone, even in self-defense), I am quite reluctant to say teachers should have guns. Reason for this is simply because it could also make matters worse. Now, they probably wont have much going on with the students in elementary but in high schools or universities, it could end up quite dramatic. When I was in high school, and likewise in college, I have seen many a teacher go pretty crazy because of some students who pushed their teachers to the limit. There was even one time where I could easily say that if that teacher had a gun, I might not be sitting here to write this reply. He went totally ballistic. And sure, he got sent away from school but, if he did have access to a weapon.. I don't know, the results might have been quite dramatic. Or what to think if a madman runs into a school, shooting around him, he might very well kill a couple of kids before he could even be gunned down himself. The damage would, although less, still be done. He shouldn't even be able to get near the classrooms. No, if there have to be weapons in schools to stop these things, I'd rather see armed and trained security guards at every school entrance (this creates extra jobs as well, guess that's an extra plus). I know this would change the whole climate drastically but I think it would be safer for everyone involved. Bottom line is, I am not against weapons and am against any ban that some people are talking about, but I do not feel teachers should carry guns as that would create a lot of extra risk as well because of the stress some of them have to endure. Even if they have proper training, there might still be someone who could go crazy. And that's what this really is about, and should be about: 'people going crazy'. Like so many already mentioned before me, both here and elsewhere, the mental illnesses are probably one of the biggest issues that we see here. I once had a girlfriend who was suicidal and, well, just not all there at times. A perfectly nice girl if you know her but she did have her moments. It took her a long, very long time until she finally got her doctors that far that she had to be admitted in a hospital setting, and when she was there, she was released way too early.. even I, someone without medical background, could easily notice not much was changed. No, they simply didn't want to work on her anymore since the insurance stopped paying. And that's really wrong there, doctors who admit people too late and kick them out of the programs (if they even get in) before they actually should. There is no proper care, and that's what should chance first. Anyways, guess that's a bit my take on the whole discussion that's going on everywhere..

True.. I ended up getting my wife to obtain a crew / gunner... guess it's half a win =)
