  1. Oh man...I totally never noticed it before! All the personal TK retinue of the “Client” (Werner Herzog) are wearing ANH buckets and R1 armour. Moff Gideon’s main TKs, on the other hand are wearing R1 buckets (except, of course our fellow 501st members as extras). Very interesting and deliberate choice to differentiate the two! I agree that the ANH buckets look like Anovos to me, too.... I never much cared for them, but now might have to get one to do up as a remnant trooper if I can find one for a good deal lol.
  2. Did anyone see the live-action Incinerator Trooper in The Mandalorian footage they showed at Celebration today? I only saw it in some bootleg footage. Hopefully it stays up...or they release the high res version soon. https://www.instagram.com/p/BwPlb7bg9tK/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1pwj2c4bmswsx
  3. I'm just building a Vader right now and since I'm only 5'10", I'm learning a lot about lifts. Depending on the amount you want to raise, you do need to increase your shoe size 1-2 sizes. This will give you a little more room at the top of your foot. Remember your foot angles upwards in lifts (like wearing high heels) so you need that extra space. I went 1.5 sizes larger and I'm able to fit 1.5" lifts relatively comfortably but 2" is quite painful for me on the top of the foot. Of course these are different style boots than TK so I'm not sure how it'll translate to Chelsea boots. Personally, I don't think you're THAT short. Whether you're 5'6" or 6'0", you'll still hear "aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper". It's inevitable.... LOL FWIW, I think I went with: https://www.myliftkits.com Good luck! Here's me in my lifts on my first rough fit: ----------
  4. Make a little strip to join the back of the raised portion and then make some ABS paste from your scraps and fill any remaining gaps from the back. If you really need to, put some ABS paste on the front, too....
  5. I'm currently building up an RS propmasters bucket as a replica of the trooper squad captain that enters the gantry and release the droids in ANH. It has gloriously massive ear gaps! It will likely be my primary trooping bucket. Still in progress.... A final montage of me in all three kit variations. My ESB and Mr No Stripes are CAP-W and are chipper builds, as will my RS when completed....
  6. I just have to do a little armour show off...and know many of you (us) like looking at great armour. A little Photoshop with my kit(s): I ordered a completed set of 1.5mm armour from Troopermaster last year. I've built a number of kits in the past and felt that the added expense of getting it pre-built would more than offset the time it takes me to put yet another kit together. Obligatory BBB shot: I ordered a Hero bucket with the kit and since I wanted to tackle three different variations of the armour, I got Paul to send me three separate belts and holsters, ANH latex hand plates on rubber gloves and ESB hand plates. Man, Paul did not disappoint! While we somehow got my thigh sizing wrong, I arranged for Paul to send me a new set with the backs undone. I was able to quickly close them up with E-6000 and I was good to go.... This is beautiful armour! I got Paul to put it together just like the originals--right down to new old stock Newey snaps and original strapping! Anyways, here's a couple of my my Hero submission pics. I need to drop a few lbs to close the side gap and then I should be good for EIB and Centurion. Side rant: I think the stringent side gap rule is ridiculous when there is so much else allowed for Centurion that is not screen accurate. One peruse through the Centurion apps is enough to realize that our bodies come in all sizes. Side shims are required, but other fitting issues for height etc are not? Some tall individuals, for instance, end up with massive amounts of black showing. Vertical is okay, but not horizontally, I guess? Furthermore, in my opinion, screws should be mandatory on the torso armour and ANH Stunt and ESB helmets should be painted white and not left as raw ABS. I know those areas of my armour are accurate at least.... /EndRant
  7. Unfortunately you'll have to ask Paul yourself.... He's really approachable, though, and will give you a straight up answer.
  8. I got Paul (Troopermaster) to build mine up and it turned out great! I've built a number of other TKs myself and seen many others and it doesn't get much (or any) better than TM.... Not the cheapest option by any stretch, but this is one case where you get what you pay for. Here's my TM ANH Hero:
  9. This is the colour you want to strive for: Without custom ordering some paint, I found it hard to source out here in Canada so I went this readily available can of camouflage paint (centre). It is not exact (a little too brown), but looks good enough as chips on the bucket: This was my ESB chipper helmet before painting white: This is what I used to mask the chips out. Others have had good success with plain latex paint though:
  10. I'd personally open up the teeth some more as Mr No Stripes actually had pretty open teeth where a lot of the "return edge" of the teeth was removed. Here's my MNS as I was cutting the teeth out compared with a screen shot: Here's mine trying to compare paint chips to a screenshot: The end result turned out pretty good: While this MNS was a CAP-W, I'm currently using an RS to recreate the squad leader that entered the gantry and released the droids.... Anyways, best of luck! Mr No Stripes is awesome...I love trooping in him!
  11. LOL nice holster! The stand is nice though--might have to make one of those with ESB grating and LEDs....
  12. Apparently the boots are Doc Martens. Easy to find anyway! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013LHRTWU/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687582&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00LZZ90ZU&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=SV73KN1XSM6J9K6EN726
  13. My comment to any question about matching helmets to the rest of the kit is always: the original helmets were painted white and never fully matched either. Technically it's more accurate for an ANH stunt or ESB helmet to be slightly off colour to the rest of the kit than for it to be matchy-matchy. In fact, I believe Centurion standards should actually require ANH stunt and ESB helmets be painted white and not be raw ABS, but that's probably just me.... With that said, it'd be hard to go wrong with an RS helmet.... Size-wise, my ATA in my banner is smaller than my CAP-W in my profile pic. The RS is even bigger and, in turn, more accurate in both detail and size.
  14. There was a helmet run by Fierfek over on the RPF. The bucket looks pretty good to me! They have also said that the CRL is ready to be submitted. Is it FISD...I'm not sure? http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=245120&highlight=cadet
  15. Somehow Death Troopers attach their SE-14r's without a holster It is cool that they're the official sidearms of these new troops! It looks like it's affixed with some sort of strap--once I figure that out, I might have to do that for some non-canon troops! Or...attach it that way for my TIE.
  16. I love the bumps and ripples, myself. In fact, I prefer when helmets are painted and have drips and chips. I like massive ear gaps, too. No one has said anything negative about my chipper Mr No Stripes when I troop, but I have a feeling they can sense a difference, though. Just like in the film, the imperfections add a real world texture and enhance the look of the armour. It looks more battle worn and used. Most would disagree with me, but I think painted helmets should be a requirement for Centurion or there should be a higher level of accuracy that can be achieved.
  17. Best to go visit the flyboys over on the JRS forum (I'm one of them, too). They can likely provide that information for you. http://www.jrs501st.com/forums/
  18. Phew! That's good to hear! I couldn't imagine Paul changing it up without reason.
  19. Are the lenses actually blue? If so, what's the explanation for that? I thought they're supposed to be either green or smoke....
  20. When in doubt, always refer to screen-used helmets. Here is a handy photo montage of the Hero frowns in ANH: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/album/27-helmet-frown-a-new-hope-hero/
