  1. Yes, you can still polish it and it will gleam--just not quite as much as acrylic capped. Maybe ask your armour supplier as his 1.5mm is likely a different "plastic recipe" than TM's?
  2. It also depends on how you want your armour to look. The 2mm is acrylic capped so it is nice and shiny, if that's your thing. If RWA's ABS is similar to TM, the 1.5mm is not acrylic capped so it is more 'dull' and cream coloured in comparison. The colour and finish of the latter is as close to the originals, as possible. Personally I'm going with the 1.5mm and original strapping so it looks a lot like the kits back in '76.
  3. I'd also encourage you to join our Garrison's forum, as well. There are a number of members that likely live near you that would be happy to help out in person. When you eventually get your armour, there are often "armour parties" where people bring their gear they're working on and help each other out. That local information will be on that forum.... http://outerrimgarrison.com/forums/index.php
  4. Welcome Steve--from your soon-to-be-Garrison's PR Officer! The Legion standards are reflected through CRL's (Costume Reference Library) and all vetted armour makers make armour that can reach that level if it is put together to fit YOU. It should be said that you're a perfect size for many of the armours out there, including Anovos, as the original actors were roughly your height and weight. I'm not sure why Anovos is not on the vetted armour list yet. Maybe because it is so new? Rest assured, it is a decent set of armour and will be undoubtedly be added at some point. All armour kits have their own peculiarities and vary in availability, price and sizing. Feel free to PM me here if you have some more questions about specific kits. I will do my best to help you out....
  5. One thing that is useful is to go through the EIB and Centurion threads to see how different armour looks on different body shapes and weights. All of the major armour makers are represented there and those threads represent the pinnacle of armour building.
  6. To be honest, I'm a little sad I didn't jump on that $350 deal when it was available. It would have been a good kit with a slew of possibilities. I agree with Mark that the helmet is the weakest part, but thankfully there are some better options out there to replace it with.... The exciting thing about Anovos and THAT initial offering is that our membership is rapidly increasing and that's a good thing! I would much rather have a new recruit purchase directly from Anovos than some sketchy eBay dealer selling recast fibreglass kits.
  7. Personally, I don't mind at all. I think the intention of LFL has always been that TKs out in the field may wear pauldrons to indicate rank. I suspect they didn't think fans would go to lengths to divide sandtroopers from stormtroopers or that we would notice the relatively tiny things that set us apart from each other. I remember when I first saw Star Wars back in the day, I made the direct connection that the TKs on Tantive IV were the same type of troopers hunting down the droids on Tatooine. I must admit that I wish the kits in Rogue One were identical to ANH--it makes the most sense to me and, frankly, it would open up a world of possibilities for all of us that currently own ANH TKs. We could wear pauldrons or carry T-21s or have the funky new backpacks--all film canon, the holy grail of Star Wars costuming. Sadly, we're relegated to having to get whole new kits if we want any of that new stuff. That's what makes me the most sad LOL. I agree that 99.99% of the film going audience won't notice any difference between RO Tks and ANH Tks...and that's okay.
  8. You mean bicep 'hooks'? Bicep hooks are entirely optional. The black strap in your picture, however, is required.
  9. In my opinion, the grappling hook should be an option for Stunt, too. In his stunt helmet, TK-421 wore it while guarding the Falcon. That terrorist Luke incapacitated him in the Falcon and took his outfit and magically his helmet changed to a different stunt lid with "communication issues". It wasn't until he got up to the gantry that it turned into a Hero.
  10. I would love to see these pieces side by side with the Anovos! Especially the shin halves, sniper plate, ab plate and shoulder straps etc.
  11. Yes, definitely flat green lenses. You can replace the thin acetate one (it is the most accurate, but flimsy) with a thicker one from TrooperBay or other source. You local hardware or welding store may even carry face shields that are the same material as TrooperBay's. Look for a Shade 3 plastic.
  12. Looks like tan/white soled shoes--more like ROTJ....
  13. That's weird...it did have pics earlier.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  14. In deciding on TM, I consulted a number of different threads and these ones helped form my opinion: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/25018-compare-tm-rs-and-ata-armor/ http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/26613-tm-vs-rs-vs-ap/ These threads showed me just how beautiful Troopermaster's armour can look. Disclaimer, I'm a sucker for armour that looks like it just came off the Tantive IV: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/12470-tms-own-personal-1-mm-anh-weatherd-armour/ http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/32061-fbjs-anh-hero-build-tm/ With that said, I'm in agreement with some of the posters in the top link that say TM armour and an RS bucket may be the best combo for ANH-Stunt. For ANH-Hero, TM is in a league of his own, in my opinion.
  15. TM offers commissioned builds too. That's what I'm gonna go with.
  16. Maybe try this one? http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/22271-rs-pvc-kit-anh-tk-stunt-build-bulldog44/?hl=+pvc%20+propmasters
  17. Sweet! I'm currently in the queue with Paul on a Hero kit, as well. Since I've built a number of kits in the past and don't have as much time as I'd like, I'm splurging and getting him to build it for me. I'm also gonna do the 1.5mm armour with original strapping. His work is just beautiful and I'm looking forward to following this thread and eventually receiving my kit, too.
  18. TK-42124...just some random number. No, I like the palindrome of 421....
  19. Go all out for the armour--it's the foundation of everything and you'd be hard pressed to find anything better than TM.
  20. Yes, I concur with Gary...about two bars forward would be good as the gold standard is 5 bars plus the big one. As nice as your helmet looks in a Hero configuration, I think you're going to be incredibly pleased when your TM Hero arrives. I have one on order, too, and can't wait! His build just looks so right....
  21. I'm glad you found the 501st and the FISD Aaron--your story is very moving! I've skimmed over your entire thread--and it is flippin' huge! Some really cool ideas can be found throughout. I'm looking forward to seeing the end result (as I'm sure you are). I originally joined as a member of the Badlands before we Garrisoned up as the Outer Rim. You have a great group of troopers over on that side of the big mountains and I'm sure they'll be a blast to troop with in the years to come. Hope to see you out for one of our big events (like FanExpo) some day in Vancouver....
