How to prevent turn yellow plastic
PiettLives replied to Deaf Trooper's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
James, you can also use Meguire's Plastx polish. It's a lot cheaper than Novus and works great. You don't need much product and it's an easy on easy off process. No need for elbow grease or rough polishing. I use a washcloth to rub it in then a microfiber cloth to buff it out. -
RT-MOD ANH HERO Build
PiettLives replied to gunslinger7788's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
2 RT-Mod suits! Lucky dude! Congrats and good luck on your "builds". Do lots of research and make sure you start a build thread yourself to document and also for questions. Welcome to the Legion in White. -
Tim, Have them camp either on the steps of the American Idol theater or even better, just before Star Tours right before the gate is a restaurant where there is hardly anyone. They won't see the Disney or guest stars part but if they just want to see you then it's the best locations. Otherwise they will have to fight tooth and nail to claim and hold their spot for up to 2 hours before.

Hey Tim, great to hear you're coming to march with us in the Florida Garrison! Troopers from all over the world come to this awesome event and we welcome them all. Pretty much everyone here would answer this question the same way: "What has been your favorite troop?". There's nothing like marching out that gate for the first time and hearing and seeing the fans cheer. As you make the quick left and see yourself on their Jumbotron...goosebumps! (even in the heat) Make sure you hydrate starting the day before as even though the march itself is only about 12-14 minutes, we're outside in armor almost an hour. Looking forward to meeting you and I hope you have a safe trip here and back.

Also, adjust the fit of the shoulder bells and biceps. They all need to be rolled forward. And check the position of the hanging ammo boxes as they look to be a little too far in. Your helmet can be easily replaced and most have a quick turnaround time when ordering them. I hope you got a good deal. Welcome to the Troopers In White!

Clear Coat Automotive Polish?
PiettLives replied to Outer Rim Tim's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I've used Meguiars Plastx for almost 2 years now and it's awesome. Just rub a small amount in then wipe right off. It works great for both a shiny finish and removing yellowing. One bottle lasted me about a year doing applications about every 3-4 months. -
WARNING TO ANYONE ASSEMBLING RS PROPS PVC ARMOR!
PiettLives replied to gazmosis's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I could only see the left side and thought "It's not too bad...that could be fixed". I then clicked on the photo and instantly cringed and winced!!! EEK! The other side almost made me puke. A Deathtrooper couldn't even make use of that gastly thing. Sorry for your loss. -
A tall guy's MTK build
PiettLives replied to wh1plash's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Your bucket looks good (even if it is ESB!) Great job on those ears too! I agree with the others...shim where your belt will go and remember the top of your belt sits right under the button plate. The chest plate can come down as your bucket will cover a lot. You will have better head movement as well. -
Some RS Armor adjustment help needed!
PiettLives replied to Lidocaine's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
In my opinion, your biceps don't look their best and need to be adjusted by taking them up higher. Not sure if they look "loose" as well but definitely need to be raised up under the bells more. The thighs are an easy fix as long as they didn't use plastic welder. With care, you should be able to pop the cover strip off on the backs and trim as needed to give them a better fit. Looks like you have lots of room there to bring them in. -
Anyone Received ATA Armor lately
PiettLives replied to OnlineJeff's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
His wait list is the longest but as others have said, shoot him an email about every month or so to check in. That's what I did and he always kept me updated. -
Hey Joe, I purchased my E-11 from them and remember it taking a while to get here.
-
I'm using IE 11 and have been having trouble here for a while now. I can no longer post photos and most things won't open on the first click. Glad my armor was completed over a year ago and now just come here to poke around, keep updated and help others when I can.

For a while now I can't seem to get the site to work correctly. It struggles to open and pages and/or threads and won't let me use the top bar when I try to post and include photos. Any thoughts? Even posting this didn't work the first time!

How to: reverse UV damage on armor
PiettLives replied to Photo Nerd's topic in Tutorials, Tips and HOWTOs
I use Meguiars PlastX and it works great! I was using it just to polish and clean at first then discovered some yellowing in a few sanded spots. It removed it quickly and I haven't seen any since. A little goes a log way and I've only polished my armor maybe 4 times in a year and a half. I use a dry washcloth to apply and a microfiber cloth to remove. -
Mic+memorex+aker+PTT
PiettLives replied to fuumantroop's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
I couldn't fit my Memorex in my bucket which really stinks but what can I do. The cable to my chest isn't too much of a pain though. -

Using your PTT is also good when you're trooping where there is a loud PA or music as any loud noise will trigger your ICOMM's static burst. -
New NE build Tampa Fl
PiettLives replied to Pencap510's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Good job! I hate ears! A pain they are. See you out trooping soon. -
Thanks Mathias... I forgot to mention he was going for centurion and that's why I was asking.

My soon to be new squadmate (Barcode) is having a cover strip issue with his right rear strip. I'm not sure of the best way to fix it so I thought I'd throw it out there...suggestions?
-
Thighs and forearms are turned out and need to face forward. Shoulder bells need to come forward as well. Hard to tell the fit with those items on wrong.
-
I was gonna recommend Photobucket as well...it's what I use.
-
Anthony, have you joined/spoken to the squad in your area? Chances are you can get help with your build from fellow squadmates and doing so will also save you some serious money. Besides, there's a lot of pride that comes along with doing the build yourself. Ask for help... it's out there everywhere whether it be here or from your local squad. Build threads are a plenty so do lots of research and take your time. I had no clue when I started and am now helping several noobs build their kits. Study, study,study... you can do it!!!
