Does anyone know when the next Star Wars events are in Germany or Europe?
Dday replied to USInfantry11B's topic in Off Topic
Paul, If you mean official events like Celebration... thats anyones guess! If you mean events that the 501st go to... all the time! There are frequently lots of small and medium events (4-6, and 10-20) in your area in Hamburg. Some of the big events each year are the moviepark, legoland and the Speyer (technik museum, has a few events each year). If you are interested in events where the German Garrison will be in your area, send me a PM. -
Troopermaster (TM) 1mm ANH Hero
Dday replied to Dday's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
The majority of TM armors that are sold are 1.5mm, I think. TM can confirm/deny this if you ask him. He also sells a 2mm (thicker, not good for original bracket strapping, use strap and snap strapping, not as flexible as the others but ultra shiny) and the 1mm (super lightweight, very flexible, good for original bracket strapping). The 1.5mm is what they used in the movies and is as accurate as you can get. Some people go for the 1mm because it's one of those "limited edition" type things. It's not really limited but very few people opt for the 1mm armors, and it is really noticeably lighter and thinner (not more fragile or breakable though!) then the 1.5mm. -

You like return edge -
Sean, The way I cut the aluminum rail, there should be enough to cut and bend to attach the counter onto. It will look more like an L shaped bracket vs the ones that look more like a bent T.

I used to use the standard brushes that came with a testors model kit, they worked well enough. Now I have a better brush and it's amazing how much better it is. Really all you need is one of the small kits of nice brushes, shouldn't run you more then $10 for a kit.

dday's TM 1.5mm ANH Stunt Build

I was thinking about the shin return edge as well and will most likely trim it out. As to the return edge on the raised area, I will leave that up to the new owner to decide. I personally like it in there so it doesn't expose the inside when worn. Screen used is screen used though. We will see what the new owner wants. -

Main post updated with the below: Back from Vacation now, putting the finishing touches on the suit now. Looking to get this to it's new owner on Monday. This will be a photogasm of my progress over the last days. Legs and arms strapped and waiting. I still need to add the hooks on the biceps, thats part of todays finishing work. Torso is all done strapped and connected and put up on Mr. Sexy. Remaining to do is paint the buttons and sew the male end of the snaps on the shoulder bridges. -
RS PVC Kit / ANH TK Stunt Build / Bulldog44
Dday replied to Bulldog44's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
It is easier to paint the buttons when they are disconnected, however, it's not a showstopper. You just need a steadier hand, or a place to mount the armor, like a mannequin. -
I cringed a bit when I saw the first cut up photos. However, it turned out pretty darn nice.

My 2mm TM Hero helmet build 8/2014
Dday replied to DarSec's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Listen to what Paul says, he knows what he is doing! Those gaps, as said are covered by the ears, a hero helmet is harder then a stunt because there is much less plastic at the bottom. One pop rivet goes in in the center of the round ear section and holds the faceplate to the cap. This will also allow you to rotate the face a little to get the right angle between the cap and the face. Make sure that the face is centered between the two traps on the front of the cap and you are good. The final two rivets per side go on the small corner at the bottom where the face and cap touch. You don't want to place these until you know you have the right angle because once they are in, the cap and face will not rotate any more. You're doing great though, slow and steady -
The legion will come to a decision and what happens, happens. If a back change is required, I am sure that KWdesigns will work with those who have bought the suit and want to submit for approval in this costume to get them the pieces that the legion requires.

Excellent, I'm looking forward to seeing how you get it together.

After the last run Darth Voorhees decided he wanted to focus in other areas, mainly his Fett stuff, so to generate some cash he sold them to me since him and I had been working together for the last year or so with the kits and such. He sold off the original parts a while back to Quartermaster and then the new V2 molds to me a little over a month ago. I haven't had a chance to make any progress on casting but I've got a source for the smooth-on resin here in Europe and hope to do something in the next 30 days with a new run of kits. I think my additions to this kit really make it a great buy, with the Marv tracks, aluminum rail and predrilled aluminum tube with main attachment holes drilled in the tube and parts..... make it worth it

How do you move a glued sniper plate to the proper position?
Dday replied to PGPDPig's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Did you have any luck with RS? -
After waiting 2 weeks since I was on vacation, I tried it and it's now working.... so thanks for anything you did that fixed it
-
Hi Sean, great to see your build moving! I will be re attacking my build shortly now that I am back form vacation. I've just got a fast track TK build to work on and I will work on the E11 while I wait for things on the TK. The parts for this small run of kits were cast by DVH himself before he hung up his E11 hat and sold me the molds, and overall I"m pretty happy with the quality of the parts that came out of the molds and the filling requirements if the parts. Like most resin kits there are small pieces to fill in if you like, but I've really noticed that even without filling the minor blemishes you can't tell at the end state since it's a black prop and it's supposed to look a little "rugged" I'll be watching your build as well! You might be able to engineer out a better solution then I do for attaching the parts!

How do you move a glued sniper plate to the proper position?
Dday replied to PGPDPig's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Agreed, the sniper is much too low on your shin. I would contact RS again and show them the photos. They should replace the shin, in my opinion... you bought a built accurate suit form them, they made a mistake, they should fix it. I know if I made a mistake on a build I did, I would always honor that and would replace or pay to have it shipped back to me so I could fix it. There is no question that your sniperplate is too low. My guess is they put it on and made a mistake, but it was to late and they hoped you wouldn't notice. If you look here you can see the top line of the sniper plate follows the top line on the shin. Yours points down and makes a new line. All the sniper plates (most) from the movies point upwards. -
Problem remains the same for me. I just tested it, no go. I'm convinced it has something to do with how much text is in the post. When I delete 90% of the text, it edits just fine. If I create a new post with only the small 10%, it posts great. If I post with the full thing, I get the 404 error.

Diana's RS Props Build- ANH Stunt
Dday replied to AsBlondeAsLuke's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
She will surely outgrow it in a few years, especially at 12, she's probably going to grow fast for a few more years at least. Build on enow, and resell it when the time comes. There is always people buying used suits here and you don't lose money either. -
Oooorrrrr, you could just get a new helmet. you can get an ATA kit for like $35 I think and it ships pretty fast generally. A FX on display or on a head is equally large, bobbly and frankensteiny
