Maybe a truly TK style helmet, just scaled down a couple %.

Everyone knows Aaron, WORLDWIDEEEEE!

My opinion is that the difference it ultra negligible as far as accuracy goes. No matter how you slice it, both are replications of the original, not original. So unless someone has an actual track or made a copy of an actual track, the whole conversation and peen waving is completely useless and counter productive. Gino... people know your track and if they want to buy it, they will, regardless to Roy offering others or anything that is said here or anywhere. Your reputation stands as it is and people know it. By continuing to argue the point however, you do turn people off of your stuff because they might find your "mightier then thou" or rather "more accurate then thou" attitude a little off putting. Let your reputation and actual product stand as it is. People with eyes can see the photos and direct comparisons and make their own decisions.

Which armor is better for a bigger trooper? Read Here ...
Dday replied to ELP's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
The suit with the tallest option is the troopermaster. However, with your waist you won't fit into a troopermaster without modification. The troopermaster can be ordered with an XL shin (ordered separately as well), which is 2 inches longer than normal. So maybe get an AM suit for the larger body size, and the TM XL shins for the taller body. It might be the best mix and match of parts to get you sorted. -
@bulldog44; fill it up with bondo and start again

DVH Pipe Build with Extras
Dday replied to I'm Batman's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
BAM! Ian, have you thought about doing this on a aluminium tube, or a steel tube? It just seems a shame to do all this work for a lowly PVC tube. I never really even thought about this prior to just now. It is like putting 100k work of parts into a 10k car. -
Very nice, this came together wonderfully! Naturally I would love to get my own sterling convert, but it will have to wait a bit until the funding is more available! I'm pretty tied up in other things and have dreams of doing more! So the slush fund needs to build back up before I can think about a sterling convert! You could say it was screen used and get 38k for it! 'Hahaha'

Was it because of bad resin, or a cast cast or just because? It looks like the sel switch from doopy carved out ok? The Onyx resin is supposed to have this crazy amount of hardness to it. If it was the case that the resin seemed bad, let me know and I will of course replace it.

I mean give me 38k and I can get original bapty parts as well.

The armor from that ebay listing looks ok, but some of the things he said made me laugh... How do you patent a snap system? I am pretty sure it is the basic snap system. The O2 system (Thermal detonator) doesn't fall off if it used the original mounting system. It gets stolen. Anyone who goes out of their way to tell you they are an expert, isn't an expert. Shipped from the USA, but they most likely get them formed/made outside of the USA Stormtrooper suits aren't hard to get and this is not the preferred suit of the 501st. I know people can say anything they want and there is basically no one to stop them... Regardless to how nice the armor seems, their kit is too expensive, even with all of the accessories, and all his BS trash talking.

I've got an E11 I can sell you for 38K that will look more an original bapty than this one.
-
well said.

I know prior to holding a real sterling, there were a lot of confusing and unknown things but after disassembling the sterling and really examining the internal workings, it really helps to understand how it all works. If the E11 is really an interesting thing, the only real option is to try and get a real one! As long as local gun laws are ok with it that is.

Will do! Also, TK boots still has boots, and reliable enough for me I got the pair of size 11 right away for a friend of mine.
-
The handle is a separate piece from the insides. First you remove the LOCK/FREE pin by turning to free, then pushing it out by the rounded end and it will slide out completely. Unfortunately I didn't get a good shot of the retaining pit out of the grip. Once the pin is out, you unscrew the bottom bolt in the grip and the plastic handle will slid off like in the photo and with a little back and forth to get around the pins and supports inside the handle interior, the trigger group can be removed.

I liked the fine print.... It basically put them off the hook. AKA... this was in a closet... if it was used, we don't know... but we have added parts and now are 38k richer.

I sent an email regarding your dark lord boots. I'm interested for more details on those. There is a noted gap and difficulty to find good Vader boots... and especially in size US 14 and 15.

Adding the kidney shim- not bad but..........
Dday replied to Tusken RTT's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I will be making some shins in the coming months for a friends suit I'm helping him with, I will try to work to your level of accuracy and attetnion to detail! -
I think this was my fault as I used the terminology firing pin for this piece when describing it, at a loss for what else to describe it.
-
agreed. Not everyone wants to turn their fandom into a costuming fetish/hobby. And most do not understand it. That said, it's your hobby, rock it and enjoy it. If they are truly friends they will enjoy it with you. That doesn't mean they will stop calling you nerd or dork.. take it as a badge or honor.

I believe that the ATA kits are in the 500 range without a helmet, but the wait list is long. ATA, AM and AP are all in the same general pricing range, you should contact them for details. Keep in mind that at this price you are still missing several key components in the suits build. There are a whole set of accessories to get like body suit, holster, cloth belt, neck seal and so on as well as the materials to actually connect the suit together. Finding which suit is just the first step into a bigger world of the stormtrooper. Just keep your eyes open and read a lot here, you'll understand and get used to it soon enough.
-
The kit is not as it is described. It is not a ROTJ, it is more ANH. It is also not the photo on the front of the auction, but rather the photos inside in the description. It is a FX set, heavily recast but this one looks to have ok details. It is possible to get legion approval with this suit, but it will take some doing. You will need to replace the ABS belt, helmet and AB plate (torso). The ABS belt because it is cut too short, the helmet because it's junk and not approved due to proportions, and the ab plate because the cod piece is cut and the button plate in the middle does not have integrated buttons. The ab plate is possible to use though as it's approvable but if your GMO is on his game, it will be hard. Honest opinion is if the item hasn't already shipped would be to contact the seller and back out of the purchase for your money back. If it has, then open a case with ebay to get your money back as he is advertising a suit that is 501st approvable, which as he ships it, it is not approvable. As wel as his description is as ROTJ, which is it not... So you have lots of ground to cancel the transaction. I know this for sure, because I had one of these exact suits as my first suit and I got rid of it right away to get a Troopermaster suit.

Well done... as always! The firing pin looks spot on.

Screen accurate vs 'reality' accurate
Dday replied to Dday's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I feel you! I must say though, that it looks much much better once it's fully built. One of the problems I have found in myself and have seen over time here is we spend way too much time really nit picking the small details in a build. If your goal is to be set accurate, toss it together and go, like they did in production. Screen accurate is just about the same! Those small details we nitpick in our builds are for the most part invisible once the kit is built. Making sure you have a nice straight line when cutting the halves to clam together is good, but not required (now don't go and get it all wavy though!) since it is hidden under the coverstrip. Small imperfections are what makes us perfect. I think the helmet is like that as well. Sure kids see a lot! I think that this detail when added to the other details will be pretty invisible when couples with the rest of the detailing and the awe of the trooper in front of the kid. If a kid does notice it, tell him he has a good eye and that your helmet was created from a helmet they used in the movie! Then point him out to an officer for detainment and future recruitment! We need people in the Empire who have an eye for details!
