  1. Could be many reasons, but what is known is Makerofthings is a recaster of others work and was removed from these forums. We have a vetted sellers list (first page of this thread), proven and reliable suppliers of armor which could be 501st approved
  2. I used double snaps in a lot of places, I've had only one fail in 13 years and having the spare kept me trooping. I used to carry quite a lot of extras, snaps, elastic, glue, tools etc etch but over time I've only really used them for other troopers and not myself, I just leave it at home now.
  3. For anyone following you don't have to position the ammo strip completely central to the thigh, so don't panic if yours isn't, as you can see by these references Notes: 1. Please note that while the ammo packs of most most TKs were raised in the front and covered the front ridge, this is not a requirement for any level but is suggested, Rivet placement
  4. Perhaps you could try adjusting the padding? Also make sure you are putting the helmet on sideways then twist when your nose is in. Largest helmet out there would be AM (DDD), perhaps ask around your garrison you may be able to try on other helmets to see what size differences there are.
  5. Looks like you may have trimmed a little too much off your large ab plate. Note the border around the base of the ab plate. You should be ok for basic approval but would need to adjust this for higher levels You can if you wish trim part of the large tab off the back of your shoulder straps (if they are long enough) NOTE: As seen in the photos below, there are no large tabs on the rear of the shoulder bridges. This is not specifically mentioned in the CRL, but removing them is highly recommended if possible. I normally will add another plate across these filler pieces, makes the straps super strong. A few of your coverstrips have a small gap, note the forearms, you may want to address these as they may be mentioned in your application, make sure when gluing areas under any strain that you leave for at least 48 hours up to 72 hours.
  6. Hello and welcome aboard, a great thread full on information, Good luck with the research
  7. It's recasting (which is highly frowned upon) plus it would be near impossible to get your hands on an original movie helmet (or armor)
  8. Nope, that is to your legion forum profile, try this one https://www.501st.com/members/displaymember.php?userID=131&costumeID=124
  9. That is called recasting and frowned upon across the legion.
  10. If you look at the list on the first page you will see suppliers with country of origin underneath. It's not all just about price, it's accuracy as well as longevity, hence why some research has to be carried out. You can also look at the build thread area, most have maker name in the title or their first page of their build. Also any of the EIB or Centurion sections, all built to a higher accuracy level
  11. It does look a little on the large side. A great thread full of references
  12. Thats a link to your garrison forum, you need your legion profile link, instructions in the first post of this thread how to find it.
  13. Having a full length mirror definitely helps, most times your photographer doesn't know what is out of place Some great references here, don't go through the edge of the ridges For submission photos try to use a contrasting background, also not in the sun your GWL will thank you for it
  14. Looks like your body photos in the first post are no longer showing.
  15. You need to add a link to your legion profile, please read the instructions in the first post of this thread
  16. Yes usual way no need for stitching. Won't be seen from the outside and does not affect higher levels. I use 2 per as one failed soon after I started trooping, have a spare gave me the ability to troop on In saying that some only use one snap per on all their armor and have not had issues, it's just another precautionary thing.
  17. I ended up printing ears straight up, worked out sell, all depends on your printer I guess.
  18. Personally, I find nylon a little restrictive, no give when you move, but see how you go.
  19. Incorrect link, please check instructions in the first post of this thread
  20. I love using a rotary tool (knock of Dremel), well 3 actually so I don't have to swap tips, very quick and easy to control, I use a drum sander, cutting disk and debur tool
  21. For the undersuit make sure you mention no stitching on inside arm when ordering, most of the suppliers are incorrect on this area and have stitching
  22. Sometimes referred to as the "Han" snap, for Level 3 a single male snap on the top right corner of the ab plate is present. Note in the photos that it is the bottom of the snap that faces outward and is not painted. This is also sometimes referred to as the "Han" snap.
