  1. Think it's just a case of trying to tint the white to match, just do a few test tries on some scrap abs
  2. Thanks guys Sight and curly wire glued on, next just a few coats of satin clear to protect the paint from scratches.
  3. Awesome good luck with the build
  4. Not at all you are welcome to share it. Cooling fins where just reticulation threaded connectors just cut off the threaded part then cut in half then pieced together;)
  5. I use two rivets on my Stunt belt and after doing some searching a more accurate one rivet for my Hero belt.
  6. Just been putting this together for an Imperial Officer costume thought I would share it with you up and coming Stormtrooper Commanders Thought I would start on my Merr-Sonn 5 build, shouldn't take long if my other blasters are anything to go by. Started stripping down my cheap nasty plastic DL-44. Now to cut off what I no longer need Making some cooling fins Filling in some of the openings And now for some fine details A few more details and then some bondo and sanding now in primer, bit too windy to keep the pieces outside so I will just have to put up with the smell of paint yet again LOL Silver base is on Adding a hi-bright led to the gun just like in other blaster projects I have done Got the black coat on, I may coat the grips with some brown then go over agian with another coat of black in case I decide to weather it later Paint is dry just putting the electronics in and making a mount for the hi-bright led Testing the light and sound, these hi-brights are pretty powerful Had al look online for pictures of the sight, think this is close, I used an old car temp sender and a pvc pipe connector, also some curly wire from an old telephone. Just have to make a mount and give it a paint.
  7. Looking good
  8. I have seen some large back strips but not of that size, prob wouldn't hurt to get the DO's advice.
  9. And the excitement sets in, wait for the panic lol
  10. Do I need to get Lord Vader to use the force on you lol.
  11. Interesting product I have never seen that over here in Aus. What I have used in the past is spray varnish to lock in printed pieces I have made for other projects also I have tried clear fibreglass resin which also works. I have taken two caps off in the past and both where only held on by a small amount of glue so you should be find. Good luck can't wait to see the finished product
  12. So exciting opening that big brown box, remember the great motto, measure twice cut one, enjoy the journey and good luck with the build
  13. Shinny white and crispy clean, I remember unpacking by brown box of goodness. Just remember the old saying measure twice and cut once. Have fun and enjoy the journey, good luck with the build
  14. Perfect advice, you can take more off but you cant put it back on, just go slow and you will do fine, measure twice cut once
  15. If you apply thin coats you can use steel wool or sandpaper and just run it across the painted surface a few times.
  16. Blaster builds are a good way to start off, it was four blaster builds before I recieved my armor and it kept me busy and helped hone my skills. If you are going to use a dremel then I would say practice with some of the different tips, the cutting and sanding tips I used the most, by time my armor arived I could cut pretty straight lines with it.
  17. We can never say it enough, don't buy off ebay
  18. Look good, well on your way, keep up the good work
  19. If you don't remove the old glue maybe just give the surface a slight sand, will give the glue something to grip to
  20. Congrats and well done, welcome to the ranks trooper, oh and bring a toothbrush
  21. For those of you who want to mix and match armor or even ABS sheets from different makers be aware that the colour can be quite different. Here is my hero belt and grappling box, the camera flash really brought out the difference in the colour of the two, it is not this bad to the naked eye but it is noticeable. This is the difference between ATA and TM, the belt and drop boxes are ATA and the grappling box is TM. Perhaps some of you who have pieces from different armor makers can post some photos so they can also be compared.
  22. Here is the grappling box fitted to the belt, also added a comlink Good example of the difference in colour of the ABS, they flash really brought it out, in real life it doesn't look this different but you can still pick it, the ABS was from ATA and TM
