You will have to sand it down once it's dry, but you can do this wet and with fine wet and dry sandpaper, 600gritt or higher, shouldn't show up on final coats.
For all of you who donated to the Armor Needed For A Trooper campain for Scott Loxley (Storming Australia) earlier in 2015 and wondered were is he now and did he ever get his armor replaced, the answer is YES.
Scott was approved with his First Order Stormtrooper on 3rd December
Seen here at Kidsflix - Richmond (Hoyts Cinema) Saturday 5th December, his first official troop in the armor

Scott was asked if this armor will share the same fate as his Storming Australia armor to which Scott replied "Not a chance mate"
Congratulations again Scott and well deserved
Cheers brother, don't want to damage that pretty paint
I've got just a couple, I do like a change, to tell the truth I've always been an ANH Stormtrooper at heart since 77 so EPVII would have to be pretty bloody impressive
Cheers Snaps
Untrimmed gives you a little more advantage to size to your body but not much with the AP. Measure twice, cut once is great advice. if your not sure always ask
I use a flat head screw driver to pry them slightly open, then use the round of the screwdriver and hit that down between the posts, spreads them more, then flatten the rest with the hammer.
