  1. TROOP REPORT EVENT: Starlight Week @ Zing Thursday Night LOCATION: Cannington DATE: 2nd May TIME: 12 to 7pm LANDSCAPE/WEATHER: Indoors TROOPERS: TK85421 - Q - gmrhodes13 TK59226 - Jerry - jezzapm TI47140 - Jason - tantaris SL51164 - Stuart - DV64 WRANGLERS: Marie Liz Silvi (door attendant of trooper sanctuary and supplier of power refreshment) REPORT: Caught an earlier shuttle to save on parking fees and after a walk around and finding the local commissary rather lacking in Star Wars merchandise I decided to hit the lines early and started at 12 not the intended 5pm. A steady stream of passers-by's due to the food court right next to Zing, quietened down after two so it was time for a break. Most rewarding moment was when a young girl had seen me from the other end of the food court, I noticed her because of her load squeal as she came running up to hug me (well my legs anyway), she was so excited she ran back to dad and dragged him back. Dad popped $25 in the tin as his daughter had encountered Starlight due to a previous illness, so we had a photo and we said goodbye and she waved all the way until she was out of sight, so cute. Another break and then ready for the stream of after school younglings kept me busy until 4. Reinforcements arriving at 4.30 so time to debrief and take another well deserved rest. With more troopers on the floor of course the patron attendance slowed but was steady and we took it in turns playing mannequin which is always a great delight, well for us not the patrons. Our event organiser advising it was quite and we could finish early saw troopers dropping off from 6pm and we called it a day @ 7pm. A big thank you goes out to Sivli for keeping an eye on the access door to our trooper sanctuary and for the donated trooper refreshments. CHARITY: Starlight $'s TBA INJURIES: None CASUALTIES: None ARMOR REPAIRS: One shoulder bell aligning plate cracked and needs replacement. HAPPY PEOPLE: Mostly everyone, UNHAPPY PEOPLE: A few younglings as per the norm. MISSION STATUS: Complete REPORT BY: TK85421 A few photos. Nice crispy white shirt to wear to match my FOTK
  2. I used straps once and ended up cutting off, weren't the most comfortable of things, I use two blocks of foam in the helmet which sit on both sides of the head which helps keep the helmet from moving, won't even fall off when leaning over, that may be an option for you.
  3. And there I was thinking you just didn't love us anymore, hope the move goes well
  4. Some have shimmed armor before, you would need to join and fill the seam with ABS paste. Couple of threads I've come across (just Google thigh shim whitearmor) which you may be able to adapt for the overlap method. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38921-anovos-anh-thigh-shim-help/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31058-my-thigh-fix/
  5. Currently the CRL's are pretty much the same TLJ at this stage and can be approved with a TFA cod although higher levels require a TLJ style, can a TLJ cod be worn with a TFA kit?, I'd suggest most GML's wouldn't notice but yes check with your GML. There are a few other differences not in the CRL's, forearms are slightly different, also there is a small grey circle (believed to be a screw) on the forearm rail, also spats are a slightly different shape, also mention of helmet greebles being a little different but I've not seen references of those. TFA and TLJ CRL's will be going through some discussions and updates in the not too distant future so I would suggest either checking back on the forums for those discussions and keep an eye on the CRL's for those updates.
  6. Automotive compound polish is a little more abrasive and may help. I found black dye had run out of my FOTK armor pouches I had made and since change to another fabric.
  7. Anovos do them, you could also check this thread https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/34166-first-order-stormtrooper-resources/#comments
  8. As Tony said they are not cannon to ANH Stormtroopers but some do wear them at unofficial events, just check with your CO and GML as some garrisons don't allow wearing non cannon items. Trooperbay sells them.
  9. Quite a few, here's a couple from a quick search: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/42868-sha-shas-wtf-anh-stunt-build-complete/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38416-crickets-rs-stunt-build-for-the-vertically-challenged/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38842-fragarocks-rs-stunt-build-not-to-scale/
  10. Imperial Boots periodically you could fill out the support request to find out when they will next open up ordering https://www.imperialboots.com/support/ The other supplier was TK Boots but they are no longer making them. Also check out the Ongoing and Private sales area occasionally you can find items there. You may also want to have a read through Joseph's supply list which pretty well covers what you may require for your build https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31404-supply-list-for-your-tk-build/
  11. You can find SCG here: https://www.501scg.org/
  12. You get what you pay for, this isn't a cheap hobby, wouldn't hurt to reach out to some troopers close to you and see the difference in armor makes. Just don't make a rash decision, do some research, look through the vetted sellers, take a look also at build threads of particular armor (you can find their names at the top of build threads) It's great to be excited and want to get into this hobby as soon as you can BUT many find out the hard way that they should have taken their time with research, it's the most important part. But like others have said it's your money
  13. I added some plates behind the kidney plate so when butted together it stops the ab from pushing outwards and keeps them in alignment, the belt will help them stay in position, perhaps this may work. Remember if seeking L2 or L3 you will need to add rivets to the side of the ab/kidney so don't do too much work behind there as you will need to add strapping. A couple of builds you may find helpful on sizing : https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38416-crickets-rs-stunt-build-for-the-vertically-challenged/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/42868-sha-shas-wtf-anh-stunt-build-complete/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38842-fragarocks-rs-stunt-build-not-to-scale/
  14. Nice work on the adjustments, good luck with approval
  15. Hello and welcome from the West. 501st website you can find how to join as well as garrison info https://www.501st.com/members/join_form.php Knightfall's website: https://501kfg.com/ Forum: https://forum.501kfg.com/ Lots of info in the Getting Started section in regards to armor and contacts Stay away form eBay and etsy, you are better purchasing from a vetted seller, at least you know you will be purchasing a quality product. There is some research involved in this hobby so you have some reading in front of you. Once you reach out to your local garrison you'll find many folk happy to lend a hand and perhaps you can visit an armor party to see what exactly is involved in putting armor together. Good luck and hope to see a build thread from you soon.
  16. Hello and welcome aboard generally .9 to 2mm is used, the standard is 1.5mm. Lots of great info in the Getting Started section in regards to different armor and their thicknesses
  17. I wouldn't fight with the return edges, no matter what you do you'll end up warping them, I left my ATA at the minimum trim size which left quite a gap between the armor and myself but I just added a couple of blocks of foam behind the ab plate which fills the gap nicely. If you try to trim the ab/kidney down you may find the rest of the armor will look out of proportion. I also have some foam pieces in the forearms, biceps and thighs which help to hold things in place, again I've got quite a lot of gaps in these because of my thin frame.
  18. Nice work, just a couple of things, your forearms look really large on you, you may wish to down size them a little. You do have a lot of ridge showing on the backs of arms, biceps and legs. You could also paint the rims of your hovi tips white Tube strips are ideally spaced a pencil width from the sides of the cheeks, also shouldn't be angled. Sides of your ab/kidney appear to overlap, should be touching. Belt could be trimmed to stop at or before the end of the TD. Should straps could be bent downwards at the rear, they are sticking up. You also have a little extra paint on the teeth gums which you could remove. Good luck with approval
  19. Always refer to the gallery section before building here's just one of them that shows legs, not the cover strip stops above the lower ridge on the thighs: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/album/15-lucas-film-archives-tkcaleb/ Decide if you wish your calves to close with Velcro or hook elastic method. Make sure they close from outside over inside so the opening is not seen from the outside Example of using Velcro: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/27206-back-thighs-and-shins-ap-armor/ Hook eye elastic method: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/43801-hooks-for-shins-question/
  20. Looking forward to the progress. I used an automotive acrylic paint, dries quick and can be sanded and buffed, standard white match the anovos helmet perfectly but that paint is local here down under. Some threads you may find useful for paint info: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/37847-tfa-tk-which-paint/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/37377-questions-on-finishing-and-painting-fotk-armor/
  21. Hello and welcome aboard research is the key to this hobby and the Getting Started section is the best place to start, good luck and hope to see a build thread from you soon.
  22. It's not criticism it's trying to help you receive feedback, it's a little hard to do so when images aren't seen here, you need to either select "copy" and then paste into your post or copy the "direct link" to each of your photos and paste them into the post.
  23. Would be easier if you could post photos directly to your thread instead of to a gallery off site
