Trogdor's first build (mtk)
starsaber25 replied to Trogdor's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I have a Darman neck seal Joe and I will take a measurement of his for you when I dig it out. I don't know the measurement off the top of my head.

Got any pictures of your test fitting?

I know it's hard when your building armor and you have some questions that go unanswered. I will make an extra effort to stay up to date with you. the ESB threads just don't get as much attention as the ANH threads which is unfortunate. -
Also if you have not checked out the tutorial videos over at trooperbay.com then you should do so. That is a great resource to use as a guide.

Good luck.

TK-46700 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB status [ATA][492]
starsaber25 replied to Nacho's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Congrats David. Welcome! -
Hey Brian and congrats on the MTK! Its going to be a great time putting this together. MTK is a great kit. I started with the shoulder bells because I felt those would be the easiest. But I would certainly start with the arm pieces. Keep in mind that the right and left forearms are different and the fit will be different. The left forearm is more tight then the right so plan for that accordingly. The bicep with the indentation is going to be the right bicep. Here is my photo so you can see what they look like but my left bicep was still when the indent was present. The right bicep is on the left side of the picture.

TK-44678 requesting ANH Hero Centurion status [AM2][185]
starsaber25 replied to Kredal's topic in Request Centurion Status
Josh looking good! Good Luck! -
Andrew, any kit can be made to fit anyone with the right assembly and additions or subtractions. If you went with AM you would just be cutting a lot of excess plastic off of the kit so that it will fit you. It doesn't mean that you will not have a nice set of armor when you are finished. If you went with something like AP well that is smaller and you would probably need to add side shims if you were aiming for the higher standards. Something like ATA, MTK, CAP-W, TM, RS Props, or T/MC You would probably get away with less cutting and/or less additions or subtractions. In the end it is all about how you put it together and if you have any desire to achieve EIB or Centurion. They will all work in their own way. Good Luck!

T/MC ANH Armor Build - On A Boat!
starsaber25 replied to Gnarled Rex Dart's topic in ANH Build Threads
Hey Daniel! Congrats on the build. It will be nice to see a T/MC build because there aren't typically too many build threads started for that kit. Hopefully you will only build when it is calm out there. Sometimes It's hard enough just to cut straight lines in a house. Now add some swells to that! Good luck on your build! -
Got my MTK bucket today

Hey Tom. From the one picture it looks great! Post a few more!! Are you building ANH or ESB? -
Well Dave congrats on your MTK kit. It is an excellent kit. Mike's videos are an excellent tool but just remember to use them as a guide. Not all of the measurements he uses will be the correct measurements for you. You have to assemble the kit so it fits your body. Otherwise do your research and make sure you know where you would like to go with this project. Are you aiming for centurion or just base approval? Check out the numerous MTK build threads on this forum. They are loaded with great tips and tricks. Good luck on your build and most importantly have fun!

TK-46700 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB status [ATA][492]
starsaber25 replied to Nacho's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Hey David! Your armor looks great and it appears to be put together well. Good Job. As far a suggestions go, which I don't believe will effect your approval but would make your armor look even better is: First your tubestripes. They appear to be painted which I know would make this a pain but they look very thick. I also don't know if there is an actual count on how many marks there should be but I feel like there should be more. I thought I read one time that there should be like 13-14 of them. But again this is purely what I feel may bring up the overall look. Next are your thighs. Did you use any belt or elastic to hold your thighs up? I feel like there is a large gap between your cod and your thighs and they could be pulled up a little. That would also help with the thigh riding over your sniper plate. Again these are only suggestions and I do not think it would effect getting EIB. Overall great job! -
Hey Everett! Helmet looks great! Nice idea with the lenses. I don't know if you are aiming for EIB or Centurion but if you are, keep in mind the traps, tears and tubestripes need to be decals. Keep moving along!

Hey Tony. It looks like you may be getting better at the cover strips but an easy way to do it is measure close to the top of the strip whatever width you would like it to be, 5/8 or whatever. Then measure closer to the bottom of the strip again 5/8. Put a ruler down on both of those marks and mark with a pencil to join the marks. Then take your utility blade and very very slowly score down that line and then snap it when its ready. You will get the hang of it after a while. Just take some deep breaths. Also keep in mind that the cover strip widths might be different from the forearms to the legs so don't start cutting more coverstrips then you need. You have to make strips that work for you. My coverstrips on my thighs are different sizes on the front then the back. I felt that the shoulder bells were easy pieces to tackle in the beginning. After the forearms you could always move to them to get more cutting experience. I don't want to pressure you but you should aim for centurion. When you are building your armor its not really too difficult after you get going. Have some faith! You can do it!

Original stormtrooper armor?
starsaber25 replied to kurt.0206's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
AM is geared toward the larger trooper. If you aren't on the larger side you will need to be prepared to trim a lot of excess plastic. Trying to find armor that is ready to wear for $500-$600 will be very difficult. Have you looked at this thread? http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/28304-how-much-can-i-realistically-expect-to-pay-to-finish-my-stormtrooper-costume/ As far as price is concerned, I think that you will see that ATA, MTK, AM, CAP-W, NE, and the anovos kit will be around the same price point. Just some kits you will have to wait a lot longer to receive then others. -
Hey Jason and good choice in your armor selection. MTK is great armor and Mike has made improvements to it every step of the way. I got my armor in spring of 2014 and I know of 4 improvments that he has made since then to make his armor that much better. There are no mods that you will need to do to his armor. It will all come down to your assembly. There are multiple MTK build threads on this forum that will help guide you on your way. Research them all and there are some great tips you will find. Also don't be afraid to go onto trooperbay.com and view his videos on how to assemble stormtrooper armor. The videos are a great guide to help get you started. Then you may use techniques from those videos as well as what works for you. Good Luck and have fun!

TK 91101 requesting ANH Stunt EIB status [AM2][491]
starsaber25 replied to Skypig's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Hi Michael. You did a great job on your build! I have a couple of minor suggestions for you. First the dropboxes should be moved out to the end of the ammo box on the belt. The outside edge of the dropboxes should line up with the outside edge of the ammo box. My second suggestion would be to raise up the belt itself so it is touching the bottom of the ab buttons like shown below: Anyway everything else looks good. Good Luck!
