Let's put it this way, from my own point of view as a dedicated prop collector. What appeared on screen (no matter if we're talking about lights, paint, warps/dents etc. or lack of those) is what I'm interested in getting. Personally I don't care about any games, comics, prints, posters, or any kind of artistic interpretations outside the 3 OT movies themselves when talking about my props. Any time a figure, statue, and especially a 1:1 armor/helmet lacks accuracy I'm totally aware of it. There are collectibles that have no accuracy at all, and some which are quite accurate. That doesn't mean I don't collect less accurate stuff. But when talking about 1:1 armor and helmet I want to be as accurate as possible with the warts and asymmetry there.
The thing with 501st is that they strive for accurate stuff, not 100%, but still more than allowing a round silver thermal detonator with lights to be added on a regular Stormtrooper armor. That's why 501st have their rules, which you need to obey if wanting to join their ranks. Outside 501st, no one says you cannot make a pink tutu Stormtrooper with swan wings on its back and with elephant ears instead of the regular Stormtrooper ears. But you will not be able to join 501st with that, no matter how many prizes your artwork will receive, unless you get in a parallel universe where pink tutus are a must for Stormtroopers.
