cool idea...look forward to the test! In my bucket I mounted my fans with four dots of HD velcro on the corners. that itself lifts the fan up a good 3/16" from the surface which allows good air circ and the velcro eliminates vibration...

Is this a licensed Ainsworth product? kind of disappointing if it's the exact MR helmet...still looks good tho. -

I found another great model paint for the vocoder: Tamiya's Black X-1 Acrylic paint is outstanding for the same reasons... model TAM81001 Acrylic X1 Black Used it on my AP's vocoder. ----------

STUNT. It looks meaner. I love the bump, too. And, I prefer a slightly higher brow (sort of sandy-ish). I really like the hero, but it looks a bit on the kind-and-gentle side to me. The stunt looks more like a skull...like death is coming for you. MUAHAHAhahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa. and I should clarify my preference for ANH

LOL great topic. I usually cut ppl off at the pass and do a little self-deprecating when I describe my little hobby to lighten the atmosphere. Because to answer your question, HELL YES I get the weird looks, the "NERD ALERT!!" comments, the half-smiles (where they're really thinking "crap I thought this guy was fairly normal till now!). I'll usually say something like "I know what you probably think, but it's actually really cool...." or let them know how much money the Garrison has raised for charity so far this year, or I'll say "I realize this places me squarely in the "geek" column, but" and go on to describe with GENUINE INTEREST what I do and the reasons for it. Frankly, I know who I am and I don't care what people think. I know people with "freakish obsessions" and I know that I am not one of them. It's a hobby, and one with a great, charitable and social upside. It happens to be a big part of my "pursuit of happiness." If people want to be "speed bumps" along my way, then I just roll over them (albeit slowly and gently). We all realize the stigma surrounding this hobby. But I say screw it. Troop with pride. Try to enlighten people who tease you and laugh and joke behind your back. But if you can't change their minds..... BLAST EM!!

one last tweak (yah right who am i kidding) trimmed the undersides of the eyelids...from a straight line to a curve. Me thinks I'm done. It's like magic! -
How old were you? What year? What movie theater (if you can remember)? What city? Any other interesting info surrounding your first "experience?" For me, it was ANH in 1977 at the Mai Kai Theater in the suburbs of Detroit. I was 12 years old. My sister and her boyfriend and I went (I was the third wheel) LOL I remember thinking--as the opening scene started and the Tantive was skitting along shooting these little laser beams--"oh, it's gonna be one of these space films again..." and then the Star Destroyer glides overhead...WOW. By far though, the life changing moment for me was when those troopers blasted through the door. I remember thinking that was the coolest thing I had EVER seen in my life. Another vivid memory was seeing the COMMERCIAL for Star Wars (ANH) during the summer of '76. I remember casually watching it on TV when suddenly they showed the quick shot of Vader slowly turning his head toward the camera (toward Leia in the detention block cell--you know, with that red grate ceiling in the background) and I nearly sh*! my pants. It was so quick, and then it was over. I think I pointed at the TV, my finger shaking, staring at the screen, saying "Did you just see that?! That guys FACE?!!" and spent the next week waiting for the commercial to be shown again (and trying to describe it to whoever would listen). LOL this is it. I also remember pretending to be stormies with my best friend during soccer practice at school, hunched over and shooting each other with pretend blasters across the field. (I also remember being picked on for it by the class bully...until I clocked him one day. He stopped picking on me.)

LOL saw it at the Mai Kai theater in Livonia, Michigan. Tell me your life didn't change when that Star Destroyer started looming overhead? And of course, when the TK's blasted thru the door, I was floored.
