  1. LOL something told me this MUST have come up before
  2. Well I've got the faceplate screwed to the back and I'm on to trimming the earcaps. Sweet mother...what a pain in the earcaps!!!
  3. fair enough You must admit, this mistake got much higher billing than gaffer's tape in the background. Plus, I doubt we'd have millions of no-striped troopers as a result of an option like that. I just thought it was a unique-enough anomaly to consider. As an aside, I wouldn't be in favor of the no-brow TD outside the Cantina, just because he didn't take center stage like Mr No-Stripes did (my sincere apologies to those who disagree with my TD opinion! )
  4. I guess I come at it from this perspective: 1- I dig Mr No-Stripes 2- In the spirit of uber-accuracy, wouldn't a stripeless TK bucket--as portrayed above that appears in one of the more memorable scenes--be more accurate than, say, an FX helmet? I think a "no-stripe" version could certainly be an option (perhaps not encouraged) to the basics. Just my humble $.02.
  5. What are your thoughts on allowing a "no stripes" version of the TK to be included as an option in the basic standards? Personally, I think it should be an option, as this dude is arguably one of the most famous troopers in the films. Heck, he even has dialogue! What do you think?
  6. awesome, thanks guys. in the event I go with pinstriping tape, where might i find that? Auto parts store?
  7. Looking to find out the best way to paint the gray ear caps on my AP. Specifically, how to get that perfect black hairline around the edge. Marker? Really steady hand? I realize they all weren't perfectly straight, I'm just looking to see what techniques others have used?
  8. just a thought, have you tried using wide velcro strips on the back of the belt and on the sides of your armor to keep it in place? I do that with my current ABS belt and it works like a charm...
  9. Thanks soooo much for this tutorial. It's huge help with my AP and I've bookmarked it for the day I add a TE2 to my repertoire...
  10. thanks everyone...so far so good. I'll post more soon!
  11. I have a new appreciation for dentists and dental assistants. So far so good, with no screwups! I kinda like how she's turning out.
  12. more eye work... moving on to the teeth. cross your fingers for me plz.
  13. thanks guys! and yes Darth Clouds I certainly intend to leave lots of plastic on those ear caps for starters...like I said, the beauty of this forum is seeing where others have gone before!
  14. LOL thanks. I'm quite good on mesh though...you can actually see the bottom of the huge roll I have in the third pic from the top, with the purple label on it! I'm just glad I didn't slice my finger yet...
  15. Well, this will hopefully be a "what I learned from everyone else" thread. Here goes. I have begun... I'll post more pics as I progress, but I've got up to cutting the right eye. No sanding yet, but it's a start. sanding soon...!
  16. ah-ok so the rivets for the holster are really snap rivets then. got it. fortunately I already have those in abundant supply =) thanks 4 the tip!
  17. I agree. What a cool gesture to offer those awesome decals... I will be glad to donate to your vinyl fund Scott if/when I arrive at the pinnacle of TK-ness. Hey vinyl costs money! =) scott
  18. dang I love this forum. I just logged on to post a question about using rivets and found this thread. My question was about the big bulb of metal that ends up on the one side of the rivet: ----------- I'm preparing to rivet a holster to a canvas belt, and I'm wondering if I'm going to end up with this lightbulb-shaped wad of metal on the belt side...? It looks like all this does is expand the darn hole! Or will the washer help control that? Anyone have shots of their riveted holster/ bandolier???
  19. just waitin on my canvas belt and i should be in like Flynn
  20. CONGRATULATIONS TERRELL!!! sorry I have to use my favorite smilies.... lol congratulations my friend =) Your wealth of knowledge and willingness to help others will only make the FISD a more valued resource and community than it already is. Scott
  21. Strange thing about my bucket... I have a few CPU fans mounted inside, one over each of my temples. The most bizarre thing is, after they reach their maximum spin rate, they create a sound that EXACTLY mimics the sound effects of light sabers when they are moving in mid-air--the "wow-wow" sound. One of these days I'm going to record it and post. It's pretty cool! A perfect sound effect by chance.
  22. heck I'm still trying to figure out why LF hasn't simply licensed the production of armor yet...if anyone knows why they haven't lemme know. I'm guessing it is simply to help foster the costuming community and "fandom" but I could be wrong...
  23. now that is a cool tip to know. thanks 4 posting! being an owner of sds armor, most of the edges on my set already return in like that, but there are areas I've considered trimming and now I know just how to get the look back. tnks
