I just go troop in my TK. Florida does enough weathing without any effort on my part.
-
As well as some officers on an upper level if you really squint hard.
-
Congrats to all! Looks like we're in great hands!

I would only recommend that you try to match the same weathering on the soft parts as close as possible.
-
All good advise. Just take your time & ask as many questions as you need to before droping money on armor.

ROTJ original strapping system discussion

Definitely. -
LOL. Yeah, and thats why he had the comlink (in addition to his helmet com) so he had broader range when he went really deep down.

RS Prop masters Right thigh top...Found?
bjsavage7 replied to rhapsodyred99's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
With all the props that get used over & over again, I would say it is quite possible. Very cool. -
I never did care for his armor. Especially the Biker Scout kit.

Funny that that is the only grappling hook we ever really see. Maybe he had that in case he fell down the lift shaft in the docking bay, & had to climb back up.

ROTJ original strapping system discussion

I think the elastic strips had Velcro sewn on each end, similar to how some of the Biker Scout armor was held in place. -
No thoughts eh?

The progress of the Rubies so far...
bjsavage7 replied to Psych007's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
While there are many imperfections in the armor itself, probably the biggest reason people see Rubies as sub-par is because almost every image floating around is on a mannequin thats not fiited/strapped to it properly, or on some poor sap wearing who bought it from a Halloween store who has no clue how to wear it. I think if someone takes the time to do the proper mods on it like you are doing, it will definitely look much better. Proper accessories should also greatly enhance it's look. For the holster, it's pretty much the same as an ANH holster, but with longer straps connecting it to the belt. -
Purchasing Armor: I think I missed something

CRL belt requirements ?
bjsavage7 replied to DudeSidious's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Actually, they aren't that hard to change as long as they are rational. Just propose the change to the LMO, have him bless the change, then change it if you have permissions. The measurement of a belt seems like a pretty standard measurement on any accurate kit. The only reason I see for it to deviate would be if a trooper was very small and needed a bit of trimming down. Then that would be left up to the overall look of the belt while worn in respect to the trooper's size, which you can only trim so much without destroying needed details on the plastic. -
Wow! That was a harsh experience! I'm glad I got to just deal with them face to face on the convention floor.

That material seems pretty hard to find here in the US. You can probably get a belt from Sskunky if he has any still. -
1. When you're dressed up for a movie midnight release, I assume everyone want pics with you, but you still sit there in your armor the whole length of the movie? Doesn't the edges on the butt plate 'dig in' after awhile, or do you take it off? I've only wore soft costumes to movie releases just for those reasons. If I was in armor, I'd probably change before I sat through the film. 2. When at a mall or store event, where do you suit up, bathroom etc.? (since at a con its usually in back of the display, unseen) We don't always have the luxury of a dressing area, so a parking lot where there aren't a lot of people works fine. Of course it's preferable to prearrange an area with the POC who requested the event. 3. What is THE most common question you get asked? Depends on who's around: Kids- "are you a real person?" Fans- "How much does that cost & where can I get one?" Elderly folks- "Isn't it hot in there?" 4. Most embarrassing moment My (TB) blaster falling out of my boot holster at Disney's Star Wars Weekends.

Perhaps trim a tiny bit more around the bottom.

For the first two original films, we know the boots looked pretty much the same: black jodhpurs painted white with the soles left black. Totally Killer boots work wonderfully for those. For ROTJ, we can see in stills that most boots also looked like this, with the exception of the soles being white or off-white. OK, Paint the soles white & call it good, right? However there appears to be a few slight differences in some of the ROTJ boots that I cannot find any discussions on. The TKs in the deleted bunker scene look like they have very shiny/stretchy boots that almost look like they have white vinyl wrapped around them. Sounds odd, but hey, that's what they did for Biker Scouts. We also see some boots on Endor that look like the sole is either very off-white (or possibly very dirty) or tan in color. I tried to find some good screen caps, but couldn't find any. I've seen boots on the promo photo trooper that look like they possibly have a zipper on the inner side. Probably wasn't in the movie, but who knows? Has anyone went so far as to recreate any of these special "looks" on their boots? I used to think the old plastic/shiny pleather Caboots were absolutely terrible, but after re-watching ROTJ a few times in a row, I'm thinking they were a bit similar to their appearance.

You could possibly do a shadow trooper (well maybe) and make interchangeable parts for the helmet (lenses, mic tips, white frown decal, painted brow) and possibly have an approved costume as well as a fun one for cons and stuff.

Personally, I put nothing there. If people are getting that close to where they can actually see in my nose holes, then they are too close in my space. lol...
