  1. Referencing screen used suits is the best way to go for this stuff rather than people's build threads. The photo references menu item at the top of your screen is where to find them. Here are the three key ones: And here is a photo of the front of a thigh from one of them: I wouldn't modify much of anything until you get into the suit and maybe troop a little. if I understand your issue you may need to put kidney/butt elastic on the extreme ends of your butt plate. But please don't heat anything up yet. The on screen TK's belts went across their kidney. Our RT suits end up kinda splitting the differences between the kidney and butt if not a lot on the butt. That's just how things line up. You can play with some velcro on the belt and at the top of the butt plate to see if you lock everything in place. That's what I did at least, but I don't have a flaring an impolite person problem. Absolutely. The biggest reason to do it is for repeatability. It's nice when your forearms end up in the same place every time. For me that is critical so I avoid armor bites on either end of the forearm when it is strapped and sitting happy. Or having it slide up toward my elbow and my glove pops out. Most annoying. The screen used straps were offset and 2" wide (I like 1.5" myself): Check out this link for strapping sizes, colors etc. Bookmark it! http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/26477-what-we-know-about-strapping-snaps-rivets-etc/ To get a better blaster shot at the chicken. Yes! The CRL says the forearms must be closed it does not say they need to be glued. That item in there isn't about screen accuracy it was about all the people with FX armor who had big open slits on their forearms. Just be sure to use the thinnest velcro you can find so no one can see it. I had to buy a few different brands before I found one that worked. -Eric

  8. Nope. I've done quite a few holsters like this for every type of blaster but a real sterling. And my holster is heavy (thanks Gaz) too. I don't know how many troops I have with snaps but it's maybe 3 years worth. Use tandy snaps not dritz and you'll be fine. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I wonder if we could install a new editor on this version of ipb. To the todo list! -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. For me chicago screws are a total pain in the an impolite person having to screw them on and stuff. They are also too big a diameter IMHO on the outside of the belt. Also the canvas will not hold up to the chicago screws spinning around and wear over time. I do not recommend them for a holster. What I do recommend is riveting snaps onto the belt. They're much more durable and repeatable than chicago screws with a bonus: more accurate. Here is how the UKG guys do it: I did it a little differently on the belt: Belt front where you can see which direction I went in with the pop rivet: Belt backside: Snaps on holster straps. -Eric

  12. Truth. Or just use the more accurate lighter colored ones The CRL is vague when it says they must "obscure your eyes". Heh. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. Greetings from Watertown MA I see you've got a mentor on the NEG forums already and our CO is in the town next to you. But please let us know here, where the stormtrooper experts commune, how we can help you decide what armor to buy. Feel free to sign up to help wrangle at one of our upcoming troops. We always need the helmet and its a good way to not only meet some fellow nerds, but see some costumes up close and personal. Welcome to the FISD! -Eric
  19. Here are our costume requirements for your basic stormtrooper: http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt It states that an FX helmet may not be used for a new approval. Additionally it says: Note: The helmet is accurate in detail and proportion to official references. Many commercially available helmets or those considered disproportionate in size or shape are ineligible. -Eric
  20. I have no idea. Mine sits behind my chest plate to be heard by the person I'm speaking to. Also being tall it's right at ear level for everyone else. Heh heh. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I say louder is better. Or at least the option to be louder. There will be a time when you want louder than the 10w can provide. I rock the 12w but I also like to be annoyingly loud. -Eric
  22. ATA belt, RT shin and TM thigh in the crap lighting of my place. RT shin compared to taller TM shin. Word. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. MTK is whiter than 1.5mm TM. But TM matches ATA pretty well. Both are creamy white. And TM's shins are taller than RT's even. I should take a photo at some point. -Eric
  24. Heh Bender you should make that little faq your forum sig -Eric Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
