  1. I love (what I presume is) the original 60s TV series costume. Excellent all-round though, Gary.
  2. Happy birthday, Uncle Pete!
  3. That makes a lot of sense.
  4. Ooh, I do like your ESB, matey! But, that didn't come as much of a surprise did it! Still bumping this thread, taunting me with that new armour, I see! But, fear not, revenge shall be mine .... mwuhahahahaha ...
  5. Told you it was good!
  6. Nice, neat helmet build, Mathias! And a superb show of ambition to recreate the hook system on the calves. I also like the way you've cut the ends of the finishing strips. Love it! You have a good eye, sir!
  7. Pete, This is a superb tutorial and deserves a "How-to" thread of its own. Paul TM pointed me in the right direction and it's going to be absolutely invaluable for me. Don't be shy, get it on a sticky thread for all to see. I'd happily post it myself but you should take the credit. I copied it and formatted it as a bulleted list of instructions to print out and follow at home, like this: Preparation is the key for a good paint job. The trick is to paint your suit in such a way that when you have finished it does not look like you have painted it. 1. First job wash your plastic warm soapy water to get rid of any grease. 2. Key you plastic first with some 600-800 grit sand paper. Then wash off the dust, dry it or let it dry. 3. The primer paint first off needs a tack coat (very light covering) 4. Then leave for 45 seconds. Now the plastic is ready for the cover coat or coats of primer. Again this does not have to be heavy. Keep the can moving up and down left to right about 6-8 inches away from your part. Leave 30 seconds between coats. 5. Then put the part by for 24 hours. 6. Now the primer can be sanded to take off any over spray. Then wash with juts water. 7. Dry ready for the top finishing coat. Do this the same as the primer: thin layers, keeping the can moving and about 6-8 inches away from your part. Again, in an ideal world allow a good 24 hours for the paint to cure. 8. The final and I feel most important part of painting a suit is the final polishing sand. Use wet and dry paper (1500 grit) and use it wet. Do small areas at a time and wipe away the paste it forms with a cloth. You will see painted plastic turn into white glass. Finally, Novas or T-cut for a super deep shine.
  8. Great, but for me you'd have to mark them "L" and "R" the other way round for me. That way I might get it right next time!
  9. Hi Cornelis, TM is not cast from screen-used armour. It's a fan sculpt. Neverthelss, it's not to be compared with the original FX (now AM) fan sculpt. In my humble opinion as the owner of both AP (recast from casts from a mix of a ROTJ suit and a tour suit and then reworked several times) and TM (fan sculp) the TM is a far more faithful reproduction of ANH armour. I think the consensus here is that TM's work to date is pretty much unbeatable.
  10. You've just got to film a minute or so of that for us!
  11. Period-correct ANH medical staff footwear!
  12. Read the thread, wet myself, saved all the photos to my hard drive for research purposes, had lunch, went back to PC, opened folder, had a look at the photos again, wet myself again. Off to buy some nappies ...
  13. ¡Gracias! ¡Che, sos macanudo!
  14. And, of course, many thanks to all those who contributed to this outfit, both with the actual physical parts and with advice and painstakign research. Thanks in general to the FISD & 501st community as a whole. You're a passionate and very helpful lot.
  15. Dual TM EIB set-up? How naff is that?!?
  16. OK, it's a deal. Strictly speaking my ANH is not yet approved anyway. I still have to submit it to our GML Ben.
  17. OK, I've made up my new gloves. A quick snap of both the old gloves and the new parts to show I'm not using any trickery or photoshoppery ... The new gloves/guards combination. Hope it's OK just to submit the extra photos of them separately like this. It'll be a while before I suit up fully again ...
  18. I'm afraid I can't take any credit for the blaster. I bought it from a guy on eBay (based on the Spanish mainland). User name: huracanambulante
  19. Been admiring this on facebook as you know. Bloody amazing! Will you buggers stop raising the bar!!! It's impossible to keep up but I'll probably kill (bankrupt?) myself trying!
