  1. Anyone know what this armour is?? (FX maybe, but doesnt seem to have the massive barrel thighs that most FX kits seem to have) i know the bucket is an epic melon special but the whole kit is being offered at a ridiculously low price (i have seen more expensive helmets being offered) and im seriously thinking about it and offering the helmet on to someone else... meaning the whole kit (ready built) will have cost less than a cheap ebay, hips set of armour and wont take much work to fit me.
  2. join both live wires (red) directly to each other and run only the earth wires(black) through the switch - never run a current through a metal switch, this should solve the problem. The yellow wire on the fan is for a thermal cut out if used on a cpu so if you dont plan to use it in a pc again cut it off
  3. Be aware these things can heat up fast, i would suggsest doing a few seconds at a time and letting it cool and like marv said use some grease to help more - it will take a little longer but you wont risk melting the plastic.
  4. C.F.O........ we need more ROTJ troopers around here - those ewoks are everywhere :ewok1: :ewok1: :ewok1:
  5. SORRY please ignore my above post, i wrote it from memory earlier on my way out of the house.... but its wrong ive roughly cut out some CFO TD parts and taken a quick measure and it seems they are between 195 & 205 mm (dunno where i got 210-220) apologies again
  6. Ive been looking at pics of originals and it seems they varied in length- i suppose it depends who built it at the time but they seem to be somewher between 210 & 220 mm
  7. For my ROTJ E 11 i used a piece of alloy tubing cut in half (i think it was originally one of those long handled dustpan& brush sets?) it needs to cover the holes but be small enough to get 7 strips on there, (i think mine was about1/2 inch across but after cutting it and cleaning it up i opened it up a little, you can see them in my build here : --------- )
  8. Sorry to hijack the thread but another member here appeared in a music vid recently..... take a bow embarrasing dad dancer (no names mentioned)
  9. A friend had a shirt kinda like this in the late 80's - it was a military tunic style shirt with a military dress collar they used to be an easily available item a few years back.
  10. very cool bud .... i like the start for some reason i cant quite figure out he he
  11. I think Rob, to cover your own bottom dont mention the 501st at all - you could maybe have the FISD web address pre-written on some small squares of paper for covenience and if anyone asks about armour or troopers in general you can say something like "well theres a great website for stormtroopers it has all the info anyone would ever need" this way all you are doing is advertising a website with no names and no allegience to anyone has been mentioned . Just my opinion but i cant see why this way should ever be a problem? - not that anyone called Rob could do any wrong he he
  12. Am i missing something here?? i dont wanna offend anyone but WTF has it got to do with the UKG if someone tells others about the FISD? I tell people about this site all the time and as far as im concerned the only person who can tell me not to is the detachment leader/founder, If rob isnt there in an official UKG capacity then i think he should be able to spread the good word of the FISD as much as he likes - besides, personally i think the more people who come here the better.... just think of all the potential rubies or FXrecast purchasers out there who could be educated before they buy! sorry rant over
  13. feel free mate we can make it "the CFO E11 thread" lol
  14. Whilst building my ROTJ E11 i have been looking at the same parts... Hammers, scope & scope rail, and it seems like they used casts of parts not the originals so if you plan to make it "screen used" mate then casts would be right - of course i could be totally wrong here, it wouldnt be the first time lol.
  15. Bout time, Jez what ya been doing man .... he he
  16. Very true, and you guys have listened to suggestions and taken onboard advice all through this so i salute you - as for the price WOW £300 for a finished - cast direct from an original ANH helmet (dunno why i keep typing helemt??)that is an amazing price!!! How many paid £1000 for anyother "makers" helmet thinking it was a direct casting when it was infact cast from duplicate molds??
  17. Maybe this is a chance for an original helmet/armour to be priced so well that the re-casters wont be able to make much profit by re-casting it- like i said tho it all depends on how greedy (no insult intended, there just isnt a better word)they get with it
  18. could it be that this is a feature on only one blaster and its the one used in all of these scenes, we know the tunisia scenes were filmed first so the second "piece" shown in that pic could have been removed or broken off then or soon after but before the other scenes were filmed ? EDIT: Sorry just noticed the sandy's is one of the castings where the others are not. (rear sight & scope rail mounting gave it away)
  19. Please dont think i was being an a** with my last post, it wasnt meant to offend anyone! i was just pointing out that this is a great opportunity for everyone to benefit, as a lot of guys cant afford some of the better helmets out there as the owners (makers) price them well out of the range of some ($1000 for a helmet anyone?), & it has the potential to make its owner A LOT of beer tokens without shelling out loads for the initial purchase & trying to recover that in the sales of the castings as some have had to do - what i meant was he can price it competitively and still make a very good profit. I hope i got my point across a little better this time ??
  20. Im just hoping he doesnt hike the price up too much as he doesnt have to recoup the inital cost of buying it he only has to cover plastic cost and time, will be interesting to see the prices....
  21. Finally got around to cutting the alloy pipe i had to make the fins for this project, now it just needs scope/rail & greeblies which i intend to use resin casts from Tango'd Fett, but its now been packed away for our house move so will have to wait a little while.
  22. Mark, looking awesome mate, really liking the weathering - if you need a body to put it on gimme a shout ( does it become mine if i wear it he he  )
