  1. He also said it here: "Never claimed to have molded an original myself. The molds I have are mold duplicates of molds taken from the inside of the original ANH helmet." http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?show...=1503&st=40 Edit: I don't have a dog in this discussion, I would be neutered if I paid over $1000.00 for a helmet! (couple grand for a Vader I can hide a little at a time).
  2. Karin, you mean you weren't part of it? It was really something, wasn't it troopers?!?! I can't believe you missed it! WOW...something I won't soon forget, for sure. Vic
  3. Personally, I like what you are doing.
  4. As a group lets shut this guy down. There is a thread about it here: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=9673&hl= Please help if you can. Vic PS. Thanks for the confirmation Ed!
  5. Well Julie, it was pretty rough to do, but I had to check out the photos of you in your armor again. What is it about this set that you like? Is it just the different cut in the chest plate? I would think you could get together with some of the Pacific Outpost and trim your chest plate to your liking. I would advise you pick up some trim like that used for the ROTJ armor so that any new cuts in your armor wouldn’t have sharp edges. Otherwise, your armor fits you pretty well! I would be hesitant about this new stuff, especially “The legs of this suit are for the more rubenesque ladies…” since there is nothing rebenesque about you. Vic
  6. That's why we're here, to get our "geek on"! I'm sure most would love to lend a hand.
  7. I should add: ebay is pretty secretive about e-mail addresses. The only way I was able to “write” to it was through: http://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?C...extGen&tb=1 Under Select your topic: Rules &reporting violations Next box (center): Reporting a member Lower: How can I report a member who is breaking the rules? THEN, you can finally click on(right) “Contact us directly for assistance”.
  8. Recently there has been some discussion regarding an ebay seller who is basically brokering the sale of armor between Shepperton Studios and the auction winner for high dollars. (link: ). I think we all agree this is shady and disgusting. JoeR and I have both bought the “service” to prevent the sale to the unaware. However, I have to say to everyone: I don’t recommend doing this! We, as a group, have more power than individuals trying to help. I have drafted a short letter template and (with permission of ADMIN) am posting it here. I have listed several ebay policies the sellers postings ignore; however, there may be others. I would ask the members of the FISD to report this seller to ebay in an attempt for ebay to take corrective action. Please feel free to make any changes you believe are necessary. Sellers last posting: Link Thanks! Edit: added number 4 below. To Whom It May Concern: As a member of the world’s largest costuming club dedicated to Star Wars and as a member of a subgroup who’s activities are limited to Stormtroopers, I feel I must report e-bay seller sandtroopertd999. His listings are inappropriate because he is simply selling a website address which is easily found by using any internet search engine. As such, the service he provides has no value. His activities are similar to the person who wishes to sell a “copper embossed portrait of former US President Abraham Lincoln” for $100.00 and when the package arrives it contains a US 1 cent coin. It is morally unconscionable and a scam. More specifically, this seller violates certain policies in place by ebay to protect the ebay community: 1. The information he is selling is in digital format. It is listed in the proper category; however it is not in the Classified Ad format as required. (policy: <a href="http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/downloadable.html)" target="_blank">http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/downloadable.html)</a> 2. His listing does not state that “you legally own the content (sometimes called intellectual property) or you are authorized to sell it by the owner, the owner’s authorized agent, or the law.” (policy: <a href="http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/downloadable.html)" target="_blank">http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/downloadable.html)</a> 3. He has not written his own description of the item, but has lifted it off the website for which her purports to sell the information. (policy: <a href="http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/image-text.html)" target="_blank">http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/image-text.html)</a> 4. The picture posted is not of the item he sells and does not belong to the seller. I ask that you please review this sellers pages and take the appropriate action. Thank you,
  9. Can anyone confirm this? Is Ed Karl a member here?
  10. I'm the proud owner of NOTHING! I was the high bidder and the guy hasn't contacted me. I already left negative feedback, so he might be smart enough to figure out I won't be paying. Strange though; I've received two e-mails from the UK offering me condolences on falling for his scam. I replied to the first one, not the second yet.
  11. "Buy it now is no longer available". My rating is good enough that I could take a hit for non payment. Too bad some one has already bid on it. Ah, hell...I'll just put a HUGE bid on it. His Feedback is not good right now!
  12. Holy smokes...well, I suppose it was bound to happen after Trekkies came out in the late 1990's. While most of us are way more obsessive than we should be: I don't know of anyone wearing TK armor to work at a post office. (Just a personal observation, don't get upset. The fact that some of us can just LOOK at a helmet or armor and know the maker means something.)
  13. 1 MRCE stunt 1 ATA stunt 1 MR Vader 1 Vader of dubious origin ROTJ 1 Clone (again, dubious origin) 1 Pod Racer helmet (fun to wear on the motorcycle!) Yupper, that's 6
  14. FYI http://www.501st.com/councilres.php "Council Resolutions: Policies that are not addressed in the 501st Legion Charter but which have been adopted by Legion Command are documented here for reference. Council Resolution 1: Legion's Stance on Recasting Vote completed on 03/13/2006: 35 Yes; 10 No; 3 Abstain Reference Link Resolution: The 501st Legion does not condone, support, or encourage re-casting. It is, however, outside of the scope of this club's mission, charter, authority, jurisdiction, and purview to consume our time and energies as a volunteer organization in efforts to prosecute those who, of their own volition, choose to engage in re-casting."
  15. I'd agree with Daniel. It just looks odd to me without the holes drilled beneath the T-tracks. These guys are just up the road from me, I'd love to work with them to produce something more accurate (if I'm up to the task). I've spoken with them a few times and will meet with them sometime this January.
  16. There's Daetrin, acting like a good DL and volunteering again. Thanks!
  17. I didn't know that, thanks for the information Terrell.
  18. I just couldn't watch it all. Good for him, but I just couldn't.
  19. Update: the main page is down, but the forums can still be accessed through http://forum.501stsithlords.com/
  20. http://www.501stsithlords.com/ It's been down all weekend, I thought maybe they were doing an update, but it's been a while now.
  21. I thought he wasn't able to sell in the US anymore? I could be wrong, but that's what I understood. The sale page says it is available "worldwide." Holy smokes, I didn't read this correctly (it was early for a Sunday). All he is selling the is the Shepperton Studios website address?!?!?!!?!
  22. I was born in the late 60’s and my Dad LOVED Star Trek, so that was my first exposure to it. Good memories of watching it with him. Fast forward to the middle 90’s and I was a staff writer for an American Saddlebred (horse) magazine. William Shatner owns a Saddlebred farm in Versailles, KY and I would often see him at the larger shows. At first, my impression was that the guy was kind of a jerk; polite, but like most big money horse owners, better than YOU. That is, until he found out that I wrote for the magazine. I was then always on the guest list to parties at Belle Reve (his farm) and kind of got to know the guy. Now I can’t watch the older episodes without picturing Bill Shatner doing an impersonation of himself! Funniest thing ever! So yeah, I like Star Trek, but I laugh at the strangest things when watching it. And those Trekkies are nuts!
  23. And my bosses! "Vic, get back to work!"
