  1. I know! I know! (Only because I saw the 501st Facebook post).
  2. Hey Daniel, there was a down loadable compendium compiled a few years ago. I did a quick search and the link is missing, but I'm sure I have it downloaded on a different computer. I'm betting a lot is out of date, but not a bad place to start, I'll see if I can find it. Or, just point people to the Tips and How-to's section of the main page. If you want something in print, perhaps you could ask those authors (is that necessary?) if you may use their writings. Personally, I'd love to see the tutorials finished so that may be sued.used. edit: so, now you know what I'm writing today at work...lol.
  3. That e-11 is just sick. Amazing what a guy with imagination and skills can do.
  4. I think it looks like crap and you should be embarrassed to wear it. I, on the other hand, have no such embarrassment. You should send it to me immediately. No? OK, fine! It looks great. I'm sure you've poured over ever detail at the dented helmet, seriously; great job!
  5. Yes, that site has been around for years. I just wanted to post so that others who didn't know about it, now would. Vern, thanks for posting your updated plans for free.
  6. I'm sure some will say they are not accurate, but you may be able to get what you need here: PVC Blaster Builders The site also has cool things like binders, droid callers and stands for blasters. Something for everyone and free! Enjoy.
  7. Way to pull out the math skills, Paul! Personally, I like the idea but we would have to get everyone on board.
  8. Could be because you were standing behind him with a BFG?!?! LOL

I doubt it. Though I'm not privy to inside information that would be a dumb marketing move on Mr. Lucas. Mr. Lucas doesn't make dumb marketing moves.
  10. Paul, that just sounds soooo wrong. But, who are we to judge?
  11. That's some shiny looking stuff! Have fun with the build, I'll get some popcorn.
  12. sorry to say, and it's hard to tell from the photo, but the boots look off too. Can you put up a bigger picture?
  13. Looks like a fun time was had by all. Your son is amazing for dressing up as Yoda. Can you imagine what he tells the other kids? "Oh yeah, on the weekends my dad is a Stormtrooper I sometimes I go with him and be Yoda."
  14. Thanks Robert, No, the ATA bucket I didn't want to rush to get finished so I used my old MRCE lid. Oh, and that's my mannequin in the photo. I need to finish his hands.
  15. Apparently I had forgotten that Halloween is on the same date every year, so with about 2 weeks till the big event I rushed to get my armor together. The bad: I’m not sure how ATA and I are going to get along. Don’t get me wrong, I think it looks great and it’s easy to work with, but I’m not sure it’s the right type armor for me. As I wrote in another post, I have a really strange shape. First, I was a pretty serious amateur body builder for years. Even though I quit working out years ago, I still pretty big (at least that’s what people tell me; I’m small compared to what I used to be.) I had to shim every piece of the ATA. For Halloween I installed the shims with Velcro on both sides so that I could remove them and tweak the shims correctly later. I didn’t put any cover strips on the back-facing pieces of armor for simplicity, I didn’t get it painted (yet)and I need a few other tweaks. Another thing, I’m 6’1â€, but have a 30 inch inseam. My torso is amazingly long! I never noticed my freakishness until I put my mannequin together and it looked strange. I measured, re-measured, and measured again…even my girlfriend measured. The proportions were correct. So I have these short, tree-trunk legs and a long upper body. I HAD to cut the cod beneath the belt so that the abs could rise up almost three inches (with the cod still protecting my “stuffâ€) and sit under the chest plate. Which, brings me to the back; there is NO WAY the back and kidney armor even come close together or ever will. So, all in all it’s time for me to get some AM (and modify my MRCE). More bad: Drunk people and shiny armor are an interesting mix. Honestly, I was at the bar for about an hour and couldn’t take any it any more. If one more person came up and “knocked†on my cod or grabbed my holstered and snapped E-11 I was going to flip my lid. Also, I didn’t install my fans in my bucket so I was fogging up pretty badly and couldn’t see a thing. I also forgot my rubber tubing "straw" so I couldn’t even enjoy a drink. The good: Drunk people and shiny armor are an interesting mix. I was a rock star. More people came up to take pictures with me than I would have thought possible. I honestly couldn’t move for at least a half hour. One couple who lived across the street begged me to walk over to surprise their three kids. THAT was a really neat experience. The kids absolutely LOVED the TK. More good: Some of the local gals came as “ The Housewives of…†and then each one did a theme. My girlfriend came as the housewife of a Stormtrooper. She put together kind of a spacey, Jedi kind of ensemble and it looked really great. Even though I wasn’t there, we won the contest for the best couple. The amazing: My girlfriend was my handler that night and did a pretty good job. I think we were both a little overwhelmed with the insane reaction of people. The next day we were discussing how things went and I was telling her I thought I would make a TD of the ATA and leave it on the mannequin. That’s when she floored me and asked me if I thought the armor would fit her!?!?! I told her with some serious trimming I know it would. Her response: “I would wear that.†Hmmmm…another convert! Funny thing is, I think she’ll get her TK number before I get mine. So, that’s my Halloween report. How was everyone else’s night?
  16. Honestly, that isn't near what I thought it would cost. I don't think it's that bad at all! Look at it this way, you said there would be 800 sets; 1865/800= 2.33125 per set to just cover cost. Now, you think you might only sell a few hundred sets...ok. 1865/200=9.325 per set to make up for cost. Anything else would be gravy. 33 years later and people still are joining the forum (take THAT Avatar!) to live out the Star Wars fantasy. I don't think the need for t-tracks is going to go away anytime soon. Just my two cents (Oh...and I'll take two sets).
  17. "* Gloves should be rubber chemical gloves rather than leather or leather like" I wonder if these ship to the great white north? Gloves Check it out, you should be able to find something like that on e-bay easy enough.
  18. Way to go Gary, you made it another year!
  19. What type of gloves are you looking for? The accurate rubber (HOT and SWEATY) gloves can be found at any hardware store. Look for chemical gloves. If you're looking for the Nomex flight gloves that most people wear, the bay is okay for those.
  20. I got mine at a dollar store. Yup, gloves for a dollar.
  21. Well, shoot. That was easy. Thanks Rob! Nothing to see here, move along, move along.
