  1. Looking really nice! Keep up the good work. I know people do the teeth in different ways, but I personally sharpened the corners on mine a little more with some small flat and square files. Totally up to you on the style, it's a personal choice on how to approach it. I am so tempted to get one of these kits. I probably wouldn't have time to build it for a year and a half, but they look really sharp!
  2. Has Ebay not responded to the complaints?
  3. You should contact him directly from the site. You can see size comparisons of his latest RT mod suit with the more screen accurate sized ones, very helpful for reference.
  4. RT mod is considered a "bigger fit" armor, as everything has been scaled up for bigger guys. Check them out. http://www.rt-mod.com/main.html Try to avoid Ebay if possible, you can direct usually for cheaper.
  5. Just wanted to offer an opinion. I haven't read all the posts (it was pages long) but this is just me walking through the steps / process. Let’s just say this was me (so as to not use any names). If I got my hands on a screen used helmet - bought from a Christies auction, or was loaned a real screen used one - and prepped the inside for molding (via mold release and using plaster or Ultracal (casting material), thus capturing the detail of the inside of the helmet. I would now have a positive form or vacuform buck that “touched the inside of a screen used helmet”. If I was using this positive form / buck to make new helmets, I could make the claim that these new helmets were created with molds that “touched the inside of a screen used helmet”. Because they literally did touch the inside of a real helmet. However, as a craftsman / prop maker I probably wouldn’t do it because eventually there would be wear and tear on this “first gen” positive buck (not to mention personal collector value). I would instead make a silicone negative mold of the first gen positive buck, and then use the silicon mold to create a new Ultracal positive buck. This would then be a “second generation” positive buck. I would use this second gen one to create helmets so that no wear and tear would ever effect the original first gen, thus keeping it preserved. If this second gen positive buck ever did get worn down, I could still go back to the silicone negative and cast another second gen positive buck for creating more helmets. If this is the technique that was used, then it’s unfair to make the claim that the molds used to create the helmets I sell, “touched the inside of a screen used helmet” because they didn’t. The molds used are second generation, and I don’t think that counts. But that’s just my personal interpretation of it.
  6. This Yoda talk scares me. Can you imagine?.... what if GL decides to digitally replace Yoda in ESB and ROTJ too? Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with a puppet. That's part of the charm. He didn't replace the stop motion Tauntauns (thank god) I just want him to STOP changing stuff. The only things that should have happened with the special editions, is salvaging the original negative for archival sake, and fixing matte lines around ships. The rest was fine on it's own, un-altered! That being said, if the 3D release happens and there were trooping opportunities, how could I NOT troop at them? It'd be a great opportunity.
  7. Ah, but when you're so close... why not go all the way?
  8. Take your time, enjoy the work, and have fun. Don't rush it. Refer back to the forums and tutorials, you'll do just fine. Look forward to seeing it!
  9. Very awesome indeed. I wish there was this kind of enthusiasm and traffic on the Badlands Garrison forum. I know it's winter right now, but I'm lucky if there's a few new posts a week!
  10. Looks awesome, nice work! The only things I don't see are the 6 rivets on the left side of the ab / kidney. These are should have's, not must have's. For more accurate nerdyness, you could also add the exposed snap on the upper corner of the AB plate. Do you have another photo of the other side of the blaster? That's the only thing I can't see. Other than that, it's looking pretty good for EIB!
  11. Wildabeast, definitely go for the E6000. You have to spread it on both sides, let it tack up for a couple minutes before joining and clamping the parts. It has to cure overnight, but it's very easy to use. Highly recommended!
  12. Sorry guys, wasn't meaning to step on toes. Just wanted to help get some info out there. I'm just as antsy as the next enthusiast, and everyone wants a a fast reply / something to read! Anything to help get people headed in the right direction. I'm sure you guys know there's still way more blaster suppliers I have no idea about (especially garage operations, club suppliers, etc..)
  13. There's an online store here on the website. Looks interesting, I might have to get it too! http://theforceamongus.com/cart/index.php?...f7535d88f36c018
  14. That is super awesome. Defintely Troopers helping Troopers. Nice work Terrell!
  15. I say go 35mm if it still works. The closer you can get it to "accurate" and still be able to wear it, the better. Looks much better BTW *also, make sure your ankles fit with boots on. Don't do it in socks or something, you'll make it too small!
  16. Right here http://www.amazon.com/Making-Star-Wars-TM-...3673&sr=8-1
  17. The "fix" for the shins (other than disassembly) is pretty much what most people do when they want to do a butt seam and an ANH style cover strip. I don't know if you have enough materials, but another thing that might help make the shins and other parts look better: - cut the front of the shin overlap area more, thereby "lessening" the width of the cover strip - on the back, use a wider cover strip This one, the front looks closer to screen accurate, while the back is wider. Thing is, most people see the front so it's usually more acceptable to have the front look good, and have the back be whatever width necessary. Keep in mind in your case, I wouldn't make the front screen accurate (like a 20 - 25mm) and have the back be super wide. Split the difference. Right now it looks like the front is just as wide as the back. Hope that helps!
  18. Nice work! I see you Dremeled out the front sight and have the correct T rack (7 racks for the drilled holes option) for EIB even! One you get your armor, looks like you'll be ready for duty trooper!
  19. I like the animated GIF idea. Would it be too much to add a tag in the corner? Like, ANH or ESB, etc..
  20. Looks good! I would use silver, as you can see them in reference images.
  21. I turn my head to the right. Insert, then twist into position.
  22. I had the same issue, I was waiting and waiting for a Blastercore but I think Irv's been really busy. He's a great guy and answered all my questions. I think he has the same issues with CF (Crystal Focus) for the sabers, as he only really offers them in batches a couple times a year. The demand is so high for those, they sell out very quickly (I know, I've been looking!) It would be great if there was a way to create more supply, as demand is pretty high for CF and Blastercore. I wasn't able to buy anything from him, but I would jump at the chance to get one of his products! Mark, another option might be Triktoys. They had that sound board for sale a little while ago and they could put custom sounds like blasters on there. You could rig that up into a blaster.
  23. For me, it's: 1. A New Hope I know a lot of people like Empire more, but without ANH, there would not have even been a trilogy! This movie was very new in so many ways, and highly influences me when I went to see it in the theatre. I remember as a kid drawing all the characters at home, especially Stormtroopers. My first home made costume was a Stormtrooper! 2. The Empire strikes back Great story, great characters, the cliffhanger ending - the first I'd seen at the time, done in good taste. 3. Return of the Jedi Great ending to the original trilogy I still like the originals, and not so much the special editions. I think Lucas should have stopped at cleaning up the matte lines and restoration to the film, and not messed with adding those extra scenes. 4. Revenge of the Sith The story and dialog could have been tightened up as previously mentioned. Some great designs and some poor ones too. Some great characters and misused ones too. I felt the final lightsaber battle - while epic, was somewhat forgettable in terms of pacing and common sense. Obi cutting Ani's legs and an arm in swipe? Gimme a break... Didn't like the new Vader (the symmetrical helmet just looks wrong, and the poorly written dialog was horrible. Vader: "Nooooooooooooooooooo!" Overall though, it wrapped up the prequel trilogy. 5. Attack of the clones It was great to see the elements of the Clone wars, I liked the battle footage etc.. Didn't like the casting of Christopher Lee. While he was an awesome guy, I felt that GL should have kept Darth maul alive from EP1, and made him this bad guy with more character and lines, and have him be a loyal apprentice, only to be conveniently executed and replaced. That would have made Palpatine more evil and cunning as an architect. 6. Phantom Menace Very disjointed story. I was so excited to see this when it came out, but the story was not very well planned and should have focussed more on Anakin. While some people say it was Jake Lloyd's acting, it think it was GL's story and dialog and direction. He should have written the story in collaboration with another good screen writer, let someone new direct, and focused on production rather than directing.
  24. Hi Rob, welcome aboard. Might be nice to introduce yourself in the new member introductions area, so that we can all get to know you better and help you along the way. Regarding your holster help, the search function yields everything you need my friend. Tutorial -------- Hope that helps!
