Try using a variable temperature soldering station. Set it at the lowest setting, and push from the inside like Karin said above. Do some test on scrap before attempting to do this to your AP lid. Also you can get small sheets of ABS at most local Hobby/RC shops for doing your test work. Work slow and do not push too hard. http://www.amazon.com/Stahl-Tools-Variable-Temperature-Soldering/dp/B0029N70WM --------

HDPE HELP PLEASE, colour available for UK
RogueTrooper replied to tk7713gra30's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
There is not really an exact paint color (off the shelf) that would match the HDPE from the original lids. What you will have to do is get something like Humbrol enamel and try to mix some greys, greens and browns to get an olive color khaki. Concerning the white, it is just regular gloss white. I don't think the sheen to it was eggshell. I think over time, the helmets that we are seeing now have lost some of their lustre, thus giving a different sheen. -
Blaine, I hate to hear that something that has given you joy is no longer fun for you. If I may give you a bit of advice, take a deep breath, take some time off, let the wounds heal and don't do something that you may regret. Don't get rid of your stuff, just take a small vacation from this. The problem with you HWT may change in the future, you never know. Just don't burn any bridges. If you need anybody, we are here for you.

The ESB eFx Box Silliness
RogueTrooper replied to Darth Aloha's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
There are a several members that have mod'd their MRCE/eFx lids. Here are a couple of links to tutuorials to mod this style of lid: ---------- BTW, the eFx idealized Stormtrooper lid was originally the Master Replica Collectors Edition (MRCE) You can also read about the lid at this link: http://starwarshelmets.com/EFX_Idealised_Stormtrooper.htm If I may suggest, before doing anything to you eFx lid maybe look at getting a lid from one of the vendors here (some lid kits start at $125.00 and some of the "B" stock lid kits are well under $100.00) or when you order your armor, most of the kits come with a lid anyway. I think you will have more fun and end up with a lid that you will be happier with. Here are some links for just the helmets kits that are on sale right now. But, like I said if you are going to buy an armor kit, most of them come with the lid: --------- There is a lot of time consuming work to be put into the eFx "idealized" lid to mod it and get it closer to the original lids. Even then, your lid still doesn't have the same vibe as the original screen used lids, because the eFx is symmetrical and the screen used were asymmetrical. You can read and see about the original screen lids over on this link: http://starwarshelmets.com/original-stormtrooper-helmets-sub-submenu.htm Either way you go, just mull over your options before you dive in. My 2 cents worth. -
Slacker's Armor Build [*VT]
RogueTrooper replied to Slacker's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Some troopers cut/split their cod from their AB section. (more mobile) But the original screen used are not the way...I guess they didn't take coffee breaks on the Deathstar. She will get used to it...If you really want to have some fun with her, put on your under armor and play this below for her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEtx2YTcD94 -
Slacker's Armor Build [*VT]
RogueTrooper replied to Slacker's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Hey Mike, I said go for the slim look, just make sure that they are comfortable and you can move well. BTW, when you do your test fittings, make sure that you are wearing your black under armor, or something clingy like your under armor. ( That way you know your armor hangs or fits right to your body.) Can wait to see more..... -
That's what I thought.

no, this is what you get when you go to Jezs' old site ( http://web.ukonline.co.uk/bingo275/index.htm ) and click on a link: The webpage cannot be found HTTP 404 Most likely causes: There might be a typing error in the address. If you clicked on a link, it may be out of date. What you can try: Retype the address. Go back to the previous page. Go to and look for the information you want. More information

BTW, I just contacted him about it. We will see!!

Yeah I saw that yesterday,, maybe Jez can tell us what is up?

Have fun Mason! I'm ready to watch.

Stay away! looks like some recasting going on... In his auction he states: 0.060 thickness Waaaaay TOO thin for trooping. You want in a HIPS kit about 0.090 thickness. About 0.080 thickness is normal for ABS kits. Don't get fool by ebay, if it sounds too good to be true ....well... you know the rest. Check out the vendors here ( good product, good reputation): http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=11538 If price is the first thing on your mind, then look at ATA (made of 0.090 HIPS). ATA's kits are around the same price and better quality to the one that you looked at on eBay. My 2 cent.

Peter's AM Build[*AM]
RogueTrooper replied to peterAP2's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Hey Peter, Clint is correct about the calf armor. The thread that you probably remember is this one: (look at post #11) for my diagram. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=12804&st=0&p=156158entry156158 Hope it helps. -
Like Karins above "Stay away from those helmets!" and if you don't want the mod you Efx lid, then my I suggest you getting any one of these: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=13598&st=0&p=164559entry164559 http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=13786 If you don't want the any minor flaws with the "B" grades the they are selling at a good price....Then check with the vendors to see if they have any "A" grades in-stock. also: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=13876&st=0&p=168126&hl=ap%20kit&fromsearch=1entry168126 In my opinion, I think you would be happier and have more fun building your own helmet rather than buying something off of Ebay, or moding your EFX. Anyone of the kits that I posted links above for, will look more screen accurate than trying to mod your EFX. The EFX is a nice lid, but it is symmetrical (left side perfect to the right side) . They idealized it, and to me, I would want one that is closer to the original screen used lids which were asymmetrical. This just my 2 cents.

helmet padding
RogueTrooper replied to Chunkaholic's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Then if those are not uncomfortable for you, then try the bike/skateboards/canoe helmet pad/ liner.... -
Slacker's Armor Build [*VT]
RogueTrooper replied to Slacker's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Also the same applies to the biceps, but the right bicep is screen used and the left bicep is tour. Checked this about TE arms: http://www.whitearmor.net/home/tutorials/armor-tutorials/arms.html -
Slacker's Armor Build [*VT]
RogueTrooper replied to Slacker's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Looks good Mike. BTW, the VT kit is derived/recast of TE stuff. With the TE armor, the left forearm was cast from a screen used ROTJ suit and the right forearm was cast from a tour suit. i.e. that is why the two are different. Keep up the good work man. -
Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success.

helmet padding
RogueTrooper replied to Chunkaholic's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Another EZ way is to get a skateboarders/BMX helmet or canoe helmet and use the liner/pads. You can also find just the replacement liner/pads sold separately... Look at your local Sporting Goods / Outdoor Camping store and Bike Shops. ---------- -
Like what Matt?

Matt, If you go by the steps that I posted above, and take your time, you should be able to accomplish a very nice job. That why I said to do test pieces with scrap, so you build your confidence up on what you are doing. But, if you do make a mistake it is not the end of the world and can be corrected. If you do not try, you will never know if you can accomplish your goals. The only real failure in life is the failure to try.

Here you go Matt this a "Painting HIPS armor" tip I posted earlier and it was featured in the FISD news letter. It should help you. ----- Also, the most common aerosol paint that people use to paint their HIPS kits are the Krylon or Rustoleum enamels that you can get at any Home Improvement/Hardware Stores. Hope it helps you with your parents.
