  1. Welcome!!!!! Life was super weird last year for me, and we / I could not give the Valkyries the love at dedication it needed. I was quite split as far as volunteer duties went. I will be stepping away from several areas this upcoming term, and wish to devote time and energy here. I’ll pop back in after elections are completed and a new term begins. I hope everyone is well. Happy. Healthy. [emoji175] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. Today I received my 1.5mm ANH Stunt helmet kit from DA Props. I already had plans to spray paint my helmet as the originals were but I was surprised to find that the ABS arrived in a baby blue colour. The wait was rather long due to the seller taking off for the holidays but I'm glad it all arrived in one piece. I plan to start trimming today and gathering the paints required for this project. I am excited! Edit: this blue colour was only a protective film over the white ABS. It has since been removed!

  6. personnaly and from a gml perspective i would mod the sides trying to retain the ridge at the back of thigh would be very difficult and with the side mod you only have to blend out one side of the shim as leaving the front edge retains the orignal look

  8. Thanks for the feedback. I went the opposite route originally and glued to the abdomen and used a weaker glue than E6000 thinking it would hold (CA glue, but to a piece of reenforcing ABS along the edge of the abdomen. I will give your recommendation a go. Also good to know that the other pieces help keep things in line. I have my strapping mostly so I will also finish off that and give it a test fit.

  10. Problem with printed plastic is it melts when you try to drill or cut it. For any moulded/plastic blasters I sometimes add just a push switch into the trigger just so I don't have worry about the surrounding area and hinge/spring. All you need then is a hole all the way through for wiring, then a square cut section for the switch to sit in, just glue in place.

  13. As it's your kidney sticking outwards on both sided gluing tabs on the kidney should help them sit behind the abdomen, make sure you rough up both areas with coarse sandpaper before applying E6000 glue and let dry for 48 - 72 hours so it's fully cured. You also need to add your belt when trying fitting as the belt will help keep everything together. Personally I wouldn't do anything more than tabs until you try on other armor pieces, chest and back can make a difference when strapped to the kidney and abdomen.

  14. My first troop! I had great timing with my first troop as Star Wars Night at the Indy Fuel was probably one of the biggest troops of the year! The Indy Fuel is the professional hockey team in Indianapolis, Indiana, and they played against the Toledo Walleye of Toledo, Ohio. The Indy Fuel won the game, so I like to think we helped bring about the victory! The Indy Fuel contributed a portion of the price of each ticket sold to a charity providing free school supplies to teachers. As with many troops here in Indiana, the Bloodfin Garrison teamed up with the Taakure Clan of the Mandalorian Mercs and the Mos Espa Base of the Rebel Legion for this event. All three groups collaborate under the name Star Wars Indiana. The doors to the arena opened one hour before the game, so after getting a group photo, we stationed ourselves around the entrance hall. Having been told it would be really cold right in front of the main doors, I decided to begin the evening in the warmer climes of one of the far sides of the entrance hall. I was there with a couple other members, and we were still able to take many photos with game attendees as we were near one of the ticket checks for the arena. After a while, I figured it was my turn to protect Lord Vader, so I went to the coldest part of the entrance hall, where Vader was standing with multiple members of the Imperial Officer Corps. Standing just past the security check, we were front and center as the game attendees walked in! Lots and lots of photos were taken here, with both children and adults anxiously waiting their turn! Meanwhile, the outside temperature had dipped to 0 F (-17 C), and that air was getting into the building as the doors were propped open at that point, so I knew it was time to move to a different area when I started to shiver. Lord Vader was left in good and friendly hands when I was relieved. In due course, the crowds started to draw down as they went into the arena for the game, so it was time to talk amongst ourselves and take any photos with stragglers heading into the game. I also did other fun things, such as conducted some observations of the zamboni during half time: I got to take some photos with another trooper’s E-11: Pretended to be in the 1980s: And then we all took one last group photo before heading back to the changing room. Overall, it was an amzaing experience to have for a first troop! Seeing the absolute joy on kids' faces as they got to take photos with us was incredible! The joy on the adults' faces was fantastic too! We received numerous complements on our costumes, and I hope we inspired others to join the Legion, Mando Mercs, and/or Rebel Legion through our efforts!

  16. Just a touch too much yellow. I know it's a photo and could be the lighting too, but it looks like the yellow isn't mixed in enough or could be just slightly thicker in areas making it stand out more. Experimentation is all part of it, I'm sure you will get it closer with patience, just keep at it nice and steady.
