  1. There’s a saying that ”in the end you go back to the beginning”. That is fitting for this build as it most likely will be my last Stormtrooper build. It’s based on the concept drawings by Ralph McQuarrie that started the life of the Stormtrooper. Althoug the design changed this is were it all started. I would like to dedicate this build to Dan (Cableguy). Dan’s love for the OT Stormtrooper are well known and I would hade really liked to have him with me on this one. We built our Stormtroopers (me a Hero and Dan a Stunt) at the same time and somehow got to talking via pm’s and became friends. We were also D.O’s together for a period of time. Anyway…as he loved the OT TK I’m thinking he might have enjoyed sharing this experience in building a Stormtrooper based on the first drawings of what later turned into the iconic Stormtrooper. This one is for you Dan - you are missed

  2. Wow cant believe there arent any post in this section, and honestly not sure this is where they even go, but had a question based of the Rebels TK CRL. The pauldron is allowed as an add on accessory item, which is great, but there is not greater defined detail on it or stand alone for what I am looking to do. Is there a way to get this insignia added to the CRL, or produce a new (additional) crl for the TKs that are on Thrawn's ship, that have this decal on the Pauldron? As it stands, if I add this decal and then submit my costume, it will be denied as the decal is not part of the CRL. any help here would be greatly appreciated! FOR THE EMPIRE!!!

  3. Walt is doing another run of these as well. There could potentially be ten more Rebels TKs in the legion soon.

  4. Going to go ahead and start this build thread as it will hold for the future builders if they decide to also do some research. My kit will be from WTF and my pauldron (orange) has been ordered from Etsy from a store called "ArtneoES". I spoke with the owner about the requirements for the Pauldron as stated in the CRL and he assured me that they could do them as stated and would not be "puffy". My big push right now is for the Detachment staff to get behind me in adding the insignia that is seen on the pauldron on the episodes that show on Thrawn's ship. I am thinking the insignia will be a vinyl print and would sit more flush than a stitch or a patch would, and would flow better with the "animated" feel of the costume. I will be more than happy to work with and in conjunction with any Detachment team member to get this pushed to be added. Below shows what I am talking about. Will also update with info on other items as they come in. Boots will most likely be chealsea boots but will continue to look for more accurate boots as I would like to take this TK to Centurion. Any help or advice or imput would be appreciated.

  5. Let me start off and say I am new to all this. I want to share my experience researching costumes. I didn't know about WhiteArmor.net until a couple of days ago, unfortunately. I started researching costumes and saw a few websites, but then I came across stormtrooper-costumes.com. I certainly wasn't impressed with their website but nothing else seemed to make sense to me, and their website indicated they would contact me after purchase to get me the right size of everything. The cost was upwards of $2000. I did make the transaction. I then learned about this forum and was quickly pointed to the post below. My heart sank as I started reviewing feedback on stormtrooper-costumes.com and Jedi-Robe. I don't know if they make good or bad costumes, and I won't disparage them about their costumes. I will say that I was taken aback that the negative feedback I saw on this forum was going all the way back to 2012! And it wasn't just one or two bad experiences. Also, of course, stormtrooper-costumes.com Jedi-Robe was called out as specifically a bad vendor. Since they never followed up, granted, it's only been three days to get my measurements, and with the negative feedback I saw, I requested them to cancel the order and a refund. I have not seen a response to any of the emails I have sent them. I would certainly follow the advice of this forum and the many, many, many negative reviews of On stormtrooper-costumes.com Jedi-Robe. One of the goals of this post is to make it a little easier for new folks to find this and hopefully not make the same mistake as I did. On a positive note, I was able to connect with Dave from Daves Darkside Depot and purchased a costume from him! I was very impressed speaking with him and can't wait for the costume to get here! It's like Christmas, only 10x better!

  7. I talked to someone in Spain that is making my Pauldron (Orange) and he said he would take the puffy out of it and instead install some type of rigid material to confirm to the CRL. If I cant get one of the other approved Rebel TKs to send it, I will submit my own once it is done to be used in the CRL. Should be within a week or 2

  8. Post it in this thread or send PM to Andrew There is also a grey version with chimera which may need adding. Rebel TK CRL for reference what is required from the image. NOTE this image should really be changed as it is not the non puffy animated version (if someone has a non puffy style) OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): Animated style only may be worn, not puffy ANH style pauldrons. Non puffy While updating the CRL should add red to the optional colors

  9. Looks pretty straight forward and would be added as an accessory to the current Rebels TK CRL. If they carry a different weapon to standard Rebels TK's then that would form part of wearing the pauldron. If someone has made one of these then we will need a photo to be used in the CRL. Just look at the pauldron images in other CRL's and that's the type of photo we will require.

  14. So….were we at? Helmet I’m going with this version of the helmet: Bought a file from etsy and a friend is printing it for me, he has a smaler printer so it’s going to be in 4 main pieces (bummer). It’s pretty good but I can see a few areas were I will try to make some changes, if you don’t see it you will have to wait untill the helmet arrives Armor Armor is going to be ordered from Imperial Surplus when they get back up and running. As far as I know they are the only ones providing the Concept Armor. Soft goods: Grey 2 piece undersuit came today and it might be a little too light of a shade but I will see if I’ll dye it darker when the grey elastic is in hand (so they match). Still looking on a few options for the gloves. Not sure if I’ll try to source/make a grey neckseal or just go with a grey balaclava (already have that in hand for my Fett). Boots I’m going with this for boots and plan on painting the soles grey:

  19. Here we are, three weeks later and finally able to do something. Can't help it. I'm busy. This is a quasi personal build along with business. Only reason I was able to work on the jetpack is because I'm also going to use it with my custom mando.....AND Dragoncon is quickly approaching. Need some stuff done. While hosting an armor party for our local Mercs clan, I make it a priority to only work on things for myself. This does kill two birds with one stone though. It was nice to be able to work on something for myself. When you're doing this for so many other people, it's just work. It was very refreshing to get to experience the hobby as a normal enthusiast. Not pictured, we were able to wire the LED boards with a jumper and leads to power it from a battery pack. There isn't an easy way to access replacing batteries often. More on that in a future post. All the parts for the jetpack All of these are off to the side. They're either going to be painted gray or are being made to be removeable after paint. Sand and glue. Guess what? MORE SANDING. Sanding down the seam from the print and an excess super glue. I like sanding and finishing resin print FAR better than FDM. It's fast. Mount testing with the JJ Industries style system. These are printed in ABS like resin and reinforced with washers and super glue/accelerator. If you have the extra $100 to spend, by all means, get the JJ set. Machined aluminum and the magnet is embedded in the fidlock. I will be running a 2" nylon strap/buckle from the back to the front to keep the weight up. Gluing the sides on to the center Last step of the day was filling the seams with kombi putty. You can get this stuff at any automotive paint supply store. It's cheap, dries fast, and usually only takes two coats. I could have done resin and UV light. I had other things to do, so it could sit and dry. Should be able to start painting by the end of the week. Should be. We have a lot going on right now. I kinda wanted to be able to paint the whole suit at the same time. I'm working on my Incinerator Trooper right now, too. The armor is about half way assembled. We're shooting a video tutorial for the R1/Disney stormtroopers while I'm building it. I'll post links when the videos are done. So, not like there's any lack of white painting happening over the next month.

  20. A few more pictures of progress. Mostly finished with helmet assembly. Very happy with the ears in the back on both sides, but the right front was giving me a lot of trouble. Side note: Halfway tempted to convert this into a sand trooper just so I don't have to worry about those shoulder straps and painting those pesky trap and tear stripes... Inner shins: Shims, because I like ice cream: Rear right ear: Rear left ear: Front left: Front right. Is that gap too big?

  21. UPDATE Well, my last post in this thread was thirteen months ago, but I just got home from an eight month deployment and decided it was time for an update. At the time of my last post I was just getting started on training, I began with nightly cardio and cutting out sugary beverages. My routine has changed considerably since then, but the biggest change has been dietary, not so much a change in the kinds of foods I’ve been eating, but the serving sizes. Recently, I’ve started a new weight training regimen consisting of 1-2 hours in the gym five days a week (M-F). I’d be happy to go into detail if anyone would like to know more, but for the time being I just wanted to post some progress here. Posting keeps a little bit of healthy pressure on me, and this journey is far from over. Keep working hard Troopers, keep making progress, it’s never too late to get started. Best of luck to all of you. Progress Troopers, Progress! Last Update: 248.5lbs Current Weight: 217.5lbs Updated Goal: 200lbs

  22. It was, and I am happy. I did just edit it as I said he was professional. He was the most unprofessional any business owner has ever been. Just thrilled to move on and start building!

  23. And update to this. I posted pretty much the same objective review from above on TrustPilot. I was trying to get their attention to get a refund and it worked. The owner personally called me, and he came out swinging with the most unprofessional conduct I have experienced from a business owner. I will give him credit; he did refund me my money. I won't go into details of the conversation but the negative reviews seem in alignment with what I experienced.

  24. Hi Matt. If you don't mind, I would add that in addition to what I mentioned in a previous post, ("unroll" the TD a little bit so that, as the CRL indicates "The white control panel raised ribbed pad faces the rear, with the controls/round washer style detail closest to the right end cap"), you can also trim the clips a bit, since they stick out from under the belt. Reference Image A minor dressing issue here... It looks like the undersuit is a little bunched up. Really, really, really nice job so far, Matt!!! Almost there!!!

  25. Hi Matt, Overall you look great. It seems to me that you could try suiting up again an raise a little the back plate (AM kit have the back plate corners a little lower than other kits) . The plan B would be to apply some heat to bend them (hot water bath or heat gun). If you check your photos from October 30 -2022 , you will see that the back plate is sitting flush.

  26. Back from hiatus. Made several tweaks and added internal padding to try to keep things in place and prevent the armour from rotating on me. One thing I noticed here is that I now have an overlap on "wings" of my AM black plate (bottom corners). I've ready other posts about this being an issue. I never bothered to fix these because it didn't used to over lap. Should I try suiting up again and seeing if if was just the way I was wearing it, or should I clip the wings on the bottom? v
