  1. Hello fellows troopers. My name is Hugo and I'm from Paraguay. I finish my ANH Stunt TK and about month ago my application has been approved. Officially 2nd TK approved in the Paraguay Outpost. Looking forward to getting the level three certification now. TK 10604 Hugo González

  3. Hi Everyone! First time posting! First Armor!! First time tackling a project like this! I never really got into cosplay much before the pandemic, but with nothing to do and nowhere to go and not much to spend my money on, I started buying costumes, Star Trek at first, but lately I have been venturing into Star Wars and cobbled together a half assed Luke from ROTJ and another half assed Han Solo from New Hope. But when Denuo Novo had a sale on First Order Stormtrooper armor, resistance was futile! So I'll be documenting my build here in this thread, please let me know how I'm doing. All feedback and criticism are welcome! Borrowing some formatting from Justin's post: TLJ Armor Armor = Denuo Novo ($700*) Helmet = Habro TLJ plastic Boot Maker = ??? Gloves = Endor Finders ($65) Belt = Denuo Novo Belt Pouches = Denuo Novo Neck Seal = Denuo Novo Holster = R2Dan (€75*)

  5. Adjust Ear Position Here's a little treat for all the perfectionists and improvement-seekers out there. How To fix my ears. I'll reference methods that I already used to change my knee rivet placement and adjust my ab-kidney rivets but will go a bit more in-depth for those curious. As Glen rightfully pointed out back in May, the angle of my ear and the ear screws wasn't as good as it could have been. With my ANH Stunt Centurion now achieved () it was a good opportunity to work on this problem. Firstly I removed the left ear, positioning it on the rest of the helmet to find a good angle, marking down the correct screw placements and other changes I needed to make, in order to fit the ear into the new position. Part of that was moving the top of the ear further back and the bottom of the ear towards the front. Since I needed to change the screw positions I filled the holes in the ear with ABS paste. Here's a tutorial I made a while ago. However, contrary to my advice back then (and now. Don't do this.) I went over it with barely ABS-soaked Acetone towards the end to give it that smooth finish. Don't do that, just sand and polish it. If I didn't have three pairs of replacement left ears I wouldn't have done it either. Luckily it turned out well for me. Once the ABS paste had dried I drilled a new hole into the ear, the time double checking the angle and screw placement. Everything fit well, so I counter-sank the screws for that Centurion Appereance. I apologize for the bad lighting, but this is what the helmet looks like now. I'll probably tighten the screws a bit further for a closer ear fit. Although the angle and placements aren't perfect now either, they're a lot closer to the desired outcome. All in all, this took me about 45 minutes spread over two evenings, so it was a pretty quick fix. Next up? I've talked with @MaskedVengeanceabout replacement canvas belts and how to properly fasten the ABS belt to the replaceable canvas belt, so I think that might be a good project to start into the new year with. Additionally I still have two proposed changes to my current armor that I'd like to implement in the future, based on information by Alan Flying, who had played one of the ESB TKs during the Bespin scenes. Happy holidays everyone and have a good start into the new year!

  6. If it’s only an inch or so on each side you don’t need to shim. You cut the back in half, glue the sides and the TD will cover the gap in the back. If you want a more firm connection/feeling you could ad fabric and a zipper to close the back. I’m building the same kit and it’s just plain awesome to work with

  7. That does seem to be about one snap width forward if I just try and eyeball that photo. I think that is going to be my plan. I've been considering the forearm since last night and still debating, but the more I look at the photos the more I think moving the elastic just half an inch higher will bring the forearms within tolerance and ease my OCD on them. I will still do a bit of padding in the forearms after that change as I think any further tweaking doesn't gain much in look but does feed my OCD to the point of not moving forward just obsessing. I am aiming for early January to be ready for basic and I think I can manage that. Thanks for the input on the snap position and everything else you have helped with thus far. Bart

  8. That foam is very dense and you may find you get a headache or just head pain if wearing for a long time, yellow (furniture) foam is very soft and will compress nicely, hey but what ever you have on hand works

  10. For small areas I try to use blocks of wood so when heated you can clamp until it cools, it's very hard to control on large areas, it tends to just get wobbly, as it's already been formed to a specific mold. I've seen some make curved wooden plugs before for making return edges. Another way is to bend your plastic by hand then tape around tightly, use some heat up and down around the curve, when cooled it should keep it's shape. You won't need very much of a curve if you and shims to the sides.

Hi Hugo, welcome to FISD. Congratulations! We are happy that your Outpost is becoming more and more important! Of course, I strongly encourage you to apply for Expert(L2) and then for Centurion(L3). If you need help, you can ask us anything, that's what we are here for! You can start by sending us some pictures of your armor, and we can tell you what needs to be modified/corrected in your armor (if necessary)... Ask us as many questions as you want...And remember, a dumb question is only the one not asked....Believe it or not, we have all been at that point of "just approved" and we surely had the same doubts and even some more than you...Soon, you will be one more of the almost 600 Centurions around the world!

  15. Ok made another rough cut, but this time, instead of using my dremel, I tried scoring with an xacto knife and then bending it apart as some of you suggested and it worked pretty well! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
