  1. (Not sure if this is the most appropriate forum section, but, here we go….) Hey troopers, Many of you are probably aware of the infamous “Mr No Stripes”, a trooper well known for being part of the group that stunned Leia in ANH. He delivered the line “She’ll be alright. Inform Lord Vader we have a prisoner”. Assumed to be a costume error (as they forgot to paint his blue tubestripes), he is now a part of Star Wars history. After a recent chat with a fellow stormtrooper fan, I decided to have a look and see if our friend Mr No Stripes appears anywhere else in ANH. I knew that he appeared in the blaster fight with Leia and Luke (grapple hook moment), however, I didn’t realise he was also present in the Luke vs Troopers fight following Obi-wan’s departure and a few other shots. Here’s a few shots of this icon: If you know of any more appearances, do let us know. [emoji2956] Thanks for stopping by. Best wishes Dan (CableGuy)

  2. New CRL Half arsed TK'S Description: Stormtrooper, Whatever we could pull together at a moment's notice. Prefix: TK?? Detachment: First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment Ahhh I don't think so Jack! Context: Episode: not in this universe buddy! These Stormtroopers (Stunt/Hero/rubies/various fond parts from costume shops) were the pre-emptive laughing stock in the boarding party, or boring party, cosplay event of the Rebel blockade runner the "You ain't bringing that costume in here IV", and made up the main garrison of poor man's productions that could be seen throughout the corridors of shady conventions and at cheap events.

  3. The positioning from the cheek is good ("pencil width") but they are on the wrong sides. The fall should lean forward, so just switch sides and you are good to go!

  4. As for the brow trim ends, I would trim them flat as Dan suggested, Luca. You should have no issues for Basic or even E.I approvals with them being angled, but as he mentioned, for Centurion they will need to be trimmed. While not specifically listed in the CRL, it's one of those items we insist on as 99% of screen references show the ends being flat. If they are a bit short after you do this, not to worry. While most of the ones from ANH extended all the way to the rear of the trap, the ESB ones tend to be shorter. I believe this is because after 3 years of sitting in a warehouse the rubber shrank, as the majority do not extend back as much so we allow for this. ANH ESB

  5. On the other side of the coin, I've always wondered why the number of tube stripes varied so widely, I wondered at one time if they were symbols of rank, but I'm chalking it down to just one of those "charming" inconsistencies. 11 12 13 15 16

  6. Here are some references. Ideally 1 large tab and 4 to 5 smaller tabs, but you can have less. NOTE: As seen in the photos below, there are no large tabs on the rear of the shoulder bridges. This is not specifically mentioned in the CRL, but removing them is highly recommended if possible.

  7. Another pic of the trimmed bridges. Noted Glen thank you!

  8. Thanks, Glen. Yeah, I noticed that when looking at the photos. A little emery cloth and touch up paint should level it out.

  9. To finish off I like to use a block of wood with sandpaper wrapped around to tidy up the lines, works well for the belt and knee ammo strip too

  10. I managed some trimming with the dremel on the bridges tonight, and some light sanding...ran outta time(family duties) so a little more sanding before securing.

  11. I went ahead and added some gray to thin out the black. Acceptable, changes needed? I know i need to touch up some of the lines and round out most of the corners but is the fix ok?

  14. Sorry to horn in, but isn't that two inner thigh pieces put together? I haven't seen thigh armor that looked symmetrical like that. The outside edge should cover up higher, yes? While the inner edge dips lower for crotch room.

  15. Lucky me found a few images supporting the angled cut Any DO wanna weigh in on this issue? Hovi Tips Not exactly that difficult either, although the small patches of black paint did mean a bit more extra work. Decals Now, as Joseph so kindly pointed out in this thread my decals are FX/NE Trooperbay decals. Lesson learned: double check before you order -- just because you got the link from the FISD does not mean it's guaranteed to be the right decals. Also, do not just hand over the order to your parents, who will then notice that it's cheaper via e-bay. I do not know where the mix-up happened, but at least they're ESB Decals and they fit the helmet (can't say the same for the original tears on the helmet, so I'm lucky that I'm going for a slightly idealized build ) Some references taken from Joseph's CRL Reference. As there's a disturbing lack of info out there on how to apply decals, here's what I put together with the advice of TK-248 (Tommi) and T-Jay (Tino): First get yourself some very soapy water, which you can use as a help to slide the decal into the correct position. Then dab said soap water onto your armor, making sure the entire area where you will place the decal is not only clean, but also covered. This allows you to correctly position your decal. Then carefully heat said decal with a hair dryer, which help it conform to the shape of your helmet and stick. If necessary and possible, cut the decal to size. Here's the end result. I'm looking forward to feedback

  16. Once upon a time whilst scrolling through the FISD I found this very interesting thread about our beloved Mr No Stripes. Might be worth a read if you like this trooper

  17. Hey Paul, Superb progress so far. This is clearly going to be a very detailed set of armour once you’re finished. :-) To follow on from what Joseph said about the leg trimming, I’d highlight the current length of a couple of cover strips. Typically in the Stormtrooper world, it’s uncommon for a coverstrip to be longer than (extend beyond) the length of the armour piece. As below, personally, I’d consider trimming your right front coverstrip to prevent it from protruding beyond the armour. Same at the back: Here’s a piece I did on coverstrips, including screen used examples etc. Regarding the shoulder bridges, Glen provided some superb references. To add to this, here’s a lovely close up of Han’s suit. Note how the front of the larger tab has actually been trimmed, leaving a nice clean edge. Keep up the great work, Paul. 19. Just faced the same problem with my own ESB build and from what I can tell, this thread here is your best bet: Here's what I did just this afternoon (build thread update to follow): had the decals from Trooperbay, used soapy water to help move them into position, then used a hair dryer to make them lay flush against the plastic. Worked really well Alternatively you can also use decal fluid to apply them with instead. If there's any interest, I could go into more detail on this when I write my build thread update on this particular step. Hope this was helpful!

  21. If I go to troops in my TK costume, it's always in my No Stripes helmet. Because if there's a crowd of us, I can instantly pick me out. But then again.....my Snowtrooper is also the one Snowtrooper seen on the set of ESB missing his center red button on his chestplate (which is the chestplate they used on the Magic Of Myth display). My Garrison CO tells me....."Always gotta be the rock star, don't you?" My GML asked me to send him "a pic of a No Stripes" in case anyone on the Legion Membership group had any issues. I sent him like 15 pictures...... -On Tantive IV -On the Death Star -On the Millennium Falcon -In the Special Edition with cgi Stormtroopers behind him -On the front of 5 different action figure packages (not to mention a whole lot of other Star Wars merchandise released at the time) There's even one scene on the Death Star where in movie continuity there's 2 of the No Stripes guys in the movie scene at the same time. Yeah, it's probably due to editing, but in the movie "canon" (which everyone around here seems to count as #1)....2 No Stripes actually exist in the same room at the same time. When Vader is talking to the officer outside the Falcon, there's a No Stripes in the group behind Vader (in the classic photo we've all seen) and another No Stripes right behind the officer Vader is talking with. Also a No Stripes was seen walking through the inside of the Falcon with a DLT-19 rifle. Heck, he's even the one TK that stun-beamed Leia and had a speaking line: "She'll be alright. Inform Lord Vader we have a prisoner". On the Death Star, a No Stripes is seen chasing Han and Chewie while at the same time on a different part of the Death Star (in movie canon), another No Stripes is seen shooting at Luke and Leia across the chasm before they swung across. Then, there's a No Stripes again in the group that the main characters are shooting at right in front of the Vader and Obi-Wan lightsaber duel before the Falcon leaves. Someone once told me...."He's super cool. He's like the Boba Fett of Stormtroopers !!!".....and since I have been a Boba Fett costumer since 1999, I'll take that as a compliment and will continue to troop events in my No Stripes helmet, and if my 501st TK designation gets yanked because of it, that is just dumb because he's perhaps the most well known Stormtrooper of them all.
