  1. Excited and wanted to say Hi! I'm about to pull the trigger on a WTF ANH Stunt kit as a 33rd birthday gift to myself ("Halfway to Order 66" is my excuse and I'm sticking to it). I'm a little short for a stormtrooper (5'2" female) but fortunately have some crafty fellas and a super supportive Garrison with a wizard who's already helped a few other local shorties. (I'm already a part of the Midwest Garrison as Governor Arihnda Pryce.) I'm in no rush to finish, but I'm super excited to get my hands into this build and learn some new skills.

  2. I hate the prep work with 3D prints but it's worth it in the end. I found using wet and dry sandpaper and water with a little soap detergents really helps.

  3. So after more than a year's inadvertent hiatus, I'm looking to get back into working on and completing this build. Plenty of time to do so with the COVID thing going on (not that I got out much to begin with anyway). I just wrote up a status update on my profile to give a PSA about mental health. Click my name to go check it out. I think I will start up where I left off with trying to get the helmet completed. Plenty of research to do to get back into the flow of things, but expect updates soon!

  4. I would love to be in the first 1000, unfortunately I’m only 16, and the 501st age restriction is 18 Oh well, I consider myself the luckiest guy in the world to even have stormtrooper armor

  9. One of my goals has been to be one of the first 1,000 EIB and 500 Centurion, so I really need to get working. Baby care has occupied more time than binge-watching during this pandemic. Perhaps I need to start pulling some overnight armor working sessions. Haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Since you haven't added any strapping yet they will tend to twist. To prevent this and keep everything lined up, what I would suggest is that when you do get the correct placement, use 2 inch wide elastic or nylon instead of the 1 inch along with 2 snaps on each side of the connection instead of one. I know adding 2 on each side of your connections takes longer, but you can be assured that nothing will ever come undone during a troop. It's worth the extra time, believe me.

  11. ONLY 5, 4, 3 2 1 SPOT LEFT, TROOPERS, SO TIME TO STEP-UP! 1000 Expert Infantry reached! Now that many of us are unfortunately stuck at home and boredom is beginning to take it's toll, it's time to wipe the dust off of that armor bin and become a part of FISD history! Instead of binge-watching re-runs, we are suggesting that you put the D.O. Staff to the test and spend some time on that white armor you miss wearing so much by applying for your Expert Infantry badge! As you may be aware, we are aiming to have #1000 approved by the end of the year. We only have 2 to go, so in order to reach that goal we are asking that you read over the CRLs for your particular armor, (this thread will help) make any necessary adjustments and post up your submission! Photo Checklist- Link here Apply Here Questions: 1. Not sure if I have what it takes to get my EI badge- You don't know until you try, and you have not only the D.O. staff but an entire Detachment to help! 2. I need some repairs/fixes first- This is why we are here! We honestly want you to succeed and are here to help in any way we can. 3. I am happy with the way my armor looks, so why bother?- It not only makes you look more screen accurate, it instills a sense of pride and "esprit de corps"! 4. What if I don't make it? No worries, we will provide detailed suggestions on how to reach your goal! Benefits: 1 Bragging rights for being one of the "Original 1000" 2. You get a cool badge under your name here on the FISD. (Street cred). 3. Access to EI rocker badges (coming soon) to go above your FISD patch (also coming soon)! 4. Access to coin runs for EI awardees only. 5. Certificate for your accomplishment. 6. You will have a more screen accurate looking set of armor, and be one step closer to Centurion!! 7. We are planning a VERY special piece of one-time-only FISD Exclusive merch to honor hitting this milestone! Know that the entire Staff and those who have reached Levels 2 (and 3) are here to help in any way we can, and that you are more than welcome (and encouraged) to ask any and all questions you may have here on this thread, or contact myself or Sha Sha. You can do it, Troopers. Let's turn this "anno horribilis" into a banner year for the FISD!

  12. Hey everyone! This is exciting! So, my birthday was yesterday, and my amazing parents gave me a First Order KB Props kit! (Thank you Mom and Dad) As you may have seen, I have been building an ANH TK for the past several months, and is now almost complete. Building the armor was one of the greatest experiences of all. For this build, I will be building the standard TFA Stormtrooper, although that may change in the future. (Pauldron or Riot Control Gear, as I have the Black Series Baton) Lets get into the specs: Helmet: KB Armor: KB Gaskets: Attempt to make myself before purchasing Gloves: Endor Finders Boots: sticking with my ANH ones for now, may change in the future The armor is set to arrive in less than 3 weeks, right around the release of The Rise of Skywalker. Get me even more hyped for the movie And that's about it so far I can't wait to start and to experience this journey with you all again. Until next time

  13. Hi All, I am Mark, also known as Higgy. I went to see ANH on it's original theatrical run in the UK when i was 7. I have wanted a stormtrooper costume ever since. I figure 42 years is enough time to wait for anything I love all things Star Wars, especially original trilogy & Rogue One. I recently bought an inferior outfit before discovering UK garrison & FISD. I have now sold that kit, bought armour from RWA Creations and have a WIP under the expert guidance of Cableguy Dan. Looking forward to completing my kit & trooping with some of you in the future. Regards Mark

  14. I feel inspired! I will be posting pictures tomorrow, hopefully I can get approved as one of the first thousand Expert Infantry, and if not, well I’ve got plenty of time on my hands to make the necessary adjustments. Thanks Troopers!

  20. I’m not sure how I missed this thread.. it is definitely chock full of greatly detailed work! I will agree and say that it ranks up there with those used for researching ways to accomplish a build. I’m digging those spat closures! Might have to use that idea for mine. 23. Fingers crossed that Dave’s Darkside Depot ships my armor in near Centurion status if I can just wear it right! (if I gotta cut, paste, fold, or spindle it - “mutilate” will be the operative word. I got no skills)

  24. I appreciate the kind words. It has all been a learning process. Not at all easy and has been waaay more expensive than I originally anticipated. But it is an enjoyable process and has been rewarding. The payoff comes every time I suit up for a test fit! The electronics will prove to be a challenge but seeing videos of different working blasters with lights and sounds was too tempting to not give it a try! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  25. IT'S HEEEEEEEERE! BBB has arrived!! It had to sit for a little longer than usual since it came from overseas but man oh man was it worth it!! You know that scene from A Christmas Story where Ralphie sees his coveted official Red Ryder carbine action, 200-shot, range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time? That's how I felt. It felt great to be able to unpack and see every little piece there and accounted for, just like the rest of y'all in your build threads. I got one of my own now :') Sure enough, everything's accounted for, with some extra ears and drop boxes to boot (thanks Paul!). I'm debating when to get started on trimming and sizing up the arms; I'm in the home stretch of school this semester and I'm just finishing the process of moving out, so I may be going at a snails pace the first couple weeks or so--then again, nobody has anything but time on their hands so what's the rush, ammirite? CAN'T WAIT to get going, I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions to ask and pictures to link as the days go by.
