  1. the coverstrips I indeed still want to triple check. and the ankles indeed can do with a bit more cleaning out, by the looks of it. Thanks for the tips! Really great to see so much active feedback here, compared to JRS for example. It was really hard to get feedback there on my FO Tie (also the ANH tie, but that is a lot less work) Loving the amount of suggestions, tips etc. I am getting here!

  2. Sorry, no photos today on the progress. Will try to add some tomorrow. Did some useful things today, Closed the left upper leg, opened the right leg again, removed glue and glued it closed again. Indeed looks a lot better now, even with clamps, magnets and tape it still looks better than it did. Thanks again for the help!! Also put the thermal detonator together. Still need to replace the silver screws with black ones though. But that I can do after initial approval as well Plan for tomorrow is to finish the belt, close the right upper leg on the back so I can put the ammo pouch around it on Sunday. Hopefully I will have time this weekend for the shoulder straps/bridges as well. Once that is done I can full on go for the strapping on everything! Exciting!! Really looking forward to it!

  4. Looking great Martijn, my only suggestion at this point would be to trim the length of the cover strip on the right shin, specifically the upper side. It should not extend past the edge of the armor but stop at the highest point. Also there should be no return edge on the bottom edge on both shins. Keep up the great work.

  6. yeah, quite happy how it came out. The tips rigt now are still very pointy and sharp, so I will still trim that down a bit. But indeed it is looking excellent now. Hopefully tonight I will get to put the ammoboxes on the upper leg and be (mostly) done with the legs.

  9. So the story goes I put on my TK last to show my neighbors who are moving the finished kit. My 4 yr old may or may not have pulled on my holster Than BAM it all popped out. Everyone was more concerned than I was lol. Figure I'll put a slightly longer rivet 3/16, cut a plastic spacer and have the rivet go ABS belt, canvas belt than plastic spacer. Plus I'll E6000 it on top of that. That should hold it extra and be proactively preventing future kids pulling on holsters Documentation incoming once complete

  10. 100% this^ I basically kept mine as identical to movie warn as I could. For bits like cod, the lower bits on the butt, etc. I removed ... I also made them very smooth like you. Basically, I’m just letting him know that going max return edges all around (sometimes more than a cm by the looks of it) isn’t always the best option. Considering each part, looking at screen reference, fitting to yourself, etc. is for sure the best approach. Well said!

  11. Ah! Did not know that. The belts with the kits I've built (RS, WTF) are all fairly rigid and need some hot water bath shaping to get it to bend nicely at the ends. Now I'm very curious as to what could have caused that blowout! Did the belt get hooked onto something as you passed it? From the looks of the belt (scorch marks around the hole), this rivet has been previously drilled out, yes? If so, then the hole may have been inadvertantly enlarged due to the heat, and would end up being a weak point on the belt. Either way, Ukswrath is spot on about the e6000. That should hold the belt quite well!

  12. Wondering if you've curved the belt via hot water bath or similar process? If not, a curve in the plastic should help reduce the strain on the canvas belt.

  15. Ok one more post.....Removing that edge would be fine and...a pic of my clamshell but that´s just for my body, the lenght between the parts and strap vary between different body types but might give you an idea

  16. Oh I missed that….I´m 5`10,,,but as you stated the proportions might differ even if one is the same hight...I think my tors/leg-ratio is pretty even-steven...Ok time to go to bed as I can`t keep a serious mind at the moment

  18. Yup! That section I marked would be removed. Yea, I'm not the one to complain as a medium heighted guy. Are you bowed like the maiden head of a ship? I have big thighs, that's a challenge for me, all my pants are toight.

  20. First off: Thank you so much! I definitely wanted to get the info "straight from the horse's mouth" if possible, hence my comment at the end there. Great! Being that the black snap heads will be between me and the armor, it sounds like I don't need to replace them with chrome ones (as you can't see them) Being that I have a ton extra, I'm probably going to go with heavy-duty split rivets or Chicago screws then. As for borrowing a tool, I mostly wanted to avoid pop rivets because I wanted something easier to undo/replace, as well as that I'm putting all of this together tomorrow (trying to be done on Sunday). Due to the time crunch, I didn't ask around. But I'll definitely keep that in mind for any other tool issues I might have going forwards! One additional question: To avoid scratches on the ab/cod plate, I was going to put a cover over the back side of the belt rivets. Like a spot of glue, or even a little piece of fabric. Being that it will be on the inside of the belt (not seen), will that affect L3 approval? Fantastic! And I am very familiar with the drop box placement. I already have everything measured out, I just wanted to wait till I heard back! Thanks again for your help! - The Captain

  22. The rear belt shot is mainly to check for the inner drop box. but it also shows if the loop that holds the drop box is fastened/glued to the cloth belt or not, which is the major cause of misalignment, a very common problem. If it isn't fastened to the cloth belt with rivets or glued it is something that we (or anyone) can suggest to keep it in place. The rear shot also usually shows a closer shot of the approved fasteners, (rivets, snaps, Chicago screws). The inner box can be held in place with whatever holds it there securely... glue, magnets, chewing gum, (well, maybe not chewing gum). Some Troopers make them where they can be opened/closed to store keys. etc. As long as the inner one is in place all is good at level 3. Hope this helps!

  25. I disagree, as someone with a FOTK from Anovos I know they can produce it, BUT when it comes to changes they have made and what ever happens between themselves and their manufacturer in China who knows when they will deliver. I think the problem is they just don't give realistic shipping times, if they know there is going to be an issue with manufacture or stages of what happens after the prototype stage then don't give a false date. They ask a lot of money for their products and I believe they are of good quality but unfortunately they just don't deliver with shipping expectations. The shipping issue will no doubt stop a lot of people from purchasing, it is hurting them as a company and I'm sure they can't be that naive to think everyone will still keep waiting until one day they can actually deliver. I really wonder how many have pulled out of their FOTK orders, already seen some other costumes they where going to offer pulled because of low interest .

  26. Hooks are not a requirement. When I need to control and area of movement I use nylon webbing, elastic is like using velcro, never know what's going to happen.
