Agreed 100%. Rivets are great, but once they are in it can be really difficult to remove them if things go sideways. With screws, they can be adjusted as needed.1 point

I used ukswrath anovos and his am 1.0 build thread and just disregarded the anovos and 1.0 specific stuff. Also sharkbait and Navajo Bros. Builds are pretty much the same regardless of armor maker, except for a couple small things. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Awesome suit. I just got my AM kit in. Did you use any particular walk through? I wanted to use Panda's, but his is not complete.1 point

So how are you dealing with cracks? I have a crack at a crucial point on my back armor at the shoulder strap slots. Without reconstruction, how do I repair it? Per the maker's advice, I put Gorilla Glue Epoxy on underneath it, and I additionally put some in the crack. Did I do this right? So here's the slot before the epoxy. You can't see the actual crack, but it's at the bottom corner of that slot. It was big enough when I bent it back for a needle to fit into. It curves into the hollowed section. I'm trying to avoid any reconstruction of any sort that involves sculpting.1 point

Hey! I ordered a separate canvas belt and ammo ABS strip and made a new belt (without the drop boxes and holster as per the CRL). I epoxied two bent 1" aluminum bars to the back of the pouches (sort of like a larger version of the TK canister) so it's just easy on/off. I attached some velcro so as not to scratch the armor. They are not permanently attached to the belt. I don't take credit for the idea - it was Justjosoph63.1 point

Agreed, so many great images have been lost with the photobucket fiasco, research is the key and looks like you are doing well, keep up the good work.1 point

I have thin arms and had to add foam to the inside of mine to hold them in position and stop rotation. I decided to add Velcro to the foam and the inside of the armor just so I could remove and wash, it is amazing how sweaty you can get after a long day of trooping. Excess E6000 glue with normally come off with a rub of a thumb or a rag.1 point

Looking SHARP, Rob!! You should have no problems getting basic approval, but per our conversations I know you are headed for Centurion! Great job on this kit, brother, but if you could post up a few photos of the following it would really help us tighten this build up a bit and get you ready for your EI submission after basic: 1. Side views, arms raised, with a closeup of the ab/kidney connection. 2. Sniper knee plate/calf connection. 3. Wrist opening(s). 4. Hovi mic tip closeup. 5. Full back view. In the meantime, 2 easy fixes would be to bring the shoulder bells in to where the tops touch the shoulder bars (just shorten the straps) and raise the belt about half an inch. Looking forward to seeing you at level 2 (and then 3) and having another sharp dressed Trooper in the FL. Garrison!! Once you get approved, I would like to invite you over to Makaze Squad territory to participate in one of our many events.1 point

Most of the history of FISD taking on what should have been MEPD's costumes for deployed troopers stemmed from the staunch old guard at MEPD to keep it focused on ANH sandtroopers ONLY, e.g. 1 costume. So we (FISD) stepped up and took them on. However as ever in the Legion things evolved. Can you believe back in 2006 there were many in the Legion who were against the very concept of having a TK detachment as the Legion already "had it covered" in the garrisons? The guidance that should have been in place years ago is now being resurrected. MEPD's leadership is changed, and the membership there has changed, and they are embracing their true roots as the place for "dirty TKs". They are now doing: 1. Special Edition (ROTJ based) OT standtroopers 2. Battlefront II Heavy Weapons Trooper 3. Battlefront II Sullest/Magma Trooper 4. Jeddha Trooper from Rogue one (dirty boy!) What is referred to the Crystal Patrol that is only ever seen in the book. It's not even clear if this costume will ever have its own CRL, as it is essentially the same costume as the deployed R1 TK (aka Jeddha Trooper) with a different pack, so they will probably just have both costumes in one CRL with two pack options. There was a discussion that Phasma would go over to SpecOps as she is not a "clean white TK", but the feedback was that the Phasmas prefer to stay here on FISD, so that is where they will remain until such time as the costume holders decide otherwise. Such is not the case with new costumes entering the Legion where we'll hold the line more closely to stick to clean TK's here on FISD, have "deployed" TK's over to MEPD, and anything other than a clean TK go to SpecOps. Hope that makes sense.1 point

STERLING SMG MAGAZINE BOTTOM PLATE Finally done with the magazine mechanism mod, and hence concluding the entire E-11 build...for now. I want to thank all the amazing, talented builders out there for sharing their journeys here through their detailed, informative threads. You continually raise the bar and inspire so many (more than you think) like me to make stuff. I also want to thank everyone who left encouraging comments on my thread. You guys rock! To be continued...?1 point

Comin along nicely, I would suggest just to take off the point on your cover strips, ever so slightly with some fine sandpaper, will just help not to catch on your undersuit Keep up the great work1 point

Correct. In the beginning EI/Centurion standards weren't even maintained in the CRL's they were entirely here on FISD, just like Deployed, Lancer, etc. standards were 100% self-contained and managed by the detachments. The problem with that is that it meant unless someone haunted the detachments, which most members don't, it was hard to communicate out to the GMLs what these optional standards were, and a lot of new members were upset that they could have built their costume to a higher standard had they known. So, the decision was made - and this is one of the better ones done by the LMO/Legion - to bake in the L2/L3 standards directly in the CRLs so that it was seamless, and everyone had the same information. I'll take Mathias' comment regarding that there is only one standard for membership - L1 - further. Even here on FISD, every TK is a full member regardless of L1/L2/L3 status. EI/Centurion programs, just like the MEPD deployed forebear and the others like it (Lancer, Dark Lord, Imperator, etc.) are only ever costume achievement recognition awards. The only tangible benefit for the recipients is to be eternally enshrined on the awardee list, access to the occasional merch piece, and the everlasting pride that they did more than the minimum standard.1 point

I've seen something like this for Army Flight helmets, so I don't think it's impossible with some creativity getting it to reach the sides of the helmet.1 point

All, Please refrain from starting and/or participating in Word Association and/or similar threads. While they can be fun, they do not really contribute (directly or indirectly) to the mission of the FISD. Any such threads will be promptly deleted by the staff. Thanks for your cooperation.1 point

Well I guess it's no use, Apparently now that we've done all the leg work and research on this pack here on FISD it's being given away to MEPD. We know now that it's clearly a Stormtrooper pack, not a Sandtrooper pack. So I had high hopes like many others that standard TKs would finally have a BackPack as an optional accessory, but I guess not. Both this "Crystal Patrol Duty Pack" and the other "Sandtrooper Type 4 Fieldpack" from Rogue One are going to MEPD, I was told that FISD was getting this one but apparently now we're not. I'm not even sure why they call it MEPD anymore, most of the listed costumes are never seen anywhere in Mos Eisley. I think it's high time that detachment changed their name in my opinion.0 points
