  2. Hi all, this will be pretty much copied directly over from my post in the UKG but I thought I'd share over here as well to get feedback on my build or even help someone else with it. So today my BBB turned up from Ross and I felt that child-like excitement! I went with the 2mm ABS and had Ross build my lid for me as I was not confident in painting it at all and I feel it would have held me back a lot. I already know I want a hero helmet to sit next to it though so I'll be grabbing a kit for that at some point to build myself, no way am I missing out on the helmet building experience completely. So far I've got my armour kit and Sondico undersuit and I'll be ordering the rest of what I need next week, so it looks like I'll be spending my three day weekend trimming my armour with my trusty lexan scissors. I spent a little time tonight rough trimming some stuff and removing return edges on the belt bit etc. to get used to using the scissors a bit. I also dry fit (with masking tape) the padding for my lid. It turns out I have a large head so wasn't able to pad it as much as I'd have originally liked but I'm happy with how this fits and feels so I'll get the velcro tabs out tomorrow to properly fit them. I'm also pretty sure this is my first ever selfie... Images to follow.

  3. I started out with a more serious padding job but quickly realized that it's unnecessary and decided to lighten it up. Less weight, more air circulation and more room for toys is my current choice.

  4. All of the Level 3 hardware has been set, the belt assembled, and the elastic strapping is installed -- meaning that the armor assembly is DONE! I'll be spending the rest of today sanding sharp edges, cleaning off excess glue, and polishing. Every surface of my work room is coated in ABS dust, so just a friendly reminder to stay safe when building. Hoping to get photos tonight and submit!

  6. 11 years ago today, this forum was cranked up for the first time and users registered and logged in. At the time I wasn't even sure if I'd get 10 people to sign off on the charter, but I figured if I could help at least a few troopers avoid the mistakes and mis-information that were common at the time, I'd be OK. It's been a fun ride - here's to 11 more!

  7. Michael your helmet is too clean for a Stormtrooper. Please send it to me for proper disposal. NICE!

  8. There are dozens of us! It's been super helpful for staying organized, and gave me something to do while playing the waiting game with Anovos.

  12. Congratulations to your BBB -Day. A long waiting time gave me the patience to soak in all the precious information that lead me to Centurion. I see that you are well prepared too. I wish you the best of luck for your build as well a steady hand, a level head and a sharp eye. Cheers Christian

  13. Thanks for the ordering info! I really appreciate it. I placed my order December 22 2016. So I missed the December 18 cutoff for the wave I think your order was in. Glad to hear you got your kit and that you're happy so far. I didn't read about the belt pieces being separate so if that's the case that would be a plus. Again, thank you for that information it's somewhat reassuring that I'll get my kit "Summer 2017" as they now call it on their shipping calendar although I'm not holding my breathe. -Dana

  15. I've just got my kit today and done my padding but I got some builders knee pads from amazon and cut them into pieces to velcro in. I obviously haven't trooped in it yet but it seems to be doing a pretty good job while I've been testing it around my house and they're currently only stuck in with looped masking tape.

  16. Anovos is decent armor however, there are other armors out there that may last longer with better support. Take a look at this thread "Armor and where to find them" and draw you own conclusion. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ . We're here to help if you have further questions.

  17. Hi Kjaskaar and welcome to FISD! So after reading your post I have one question to ask. Are you hoping to join the 501st or are you just looking for a costume to wear around the neighborhood? If you are looking to join the 501st then you need to stay away from the rubies armor. Major work would need to be done to it to have it 501st approvable. You will end up spending WAY more for a Rubies to have it 501st approved then you would to have most any other set of armor. I know this forum may seem overwhelming to a new comer but trust me when I say that research is key when it comes to purchasing armor. As you said your budget is going to be around $1000. You wouldn't want to flush that grand down a toilet would you? If anything I highly recommend you read through all 44 pages of this thread paying close attention to the first post (which is updated constantly). There is so much helpful information contained in these 44 pages that you would be able to make a reasonable purchase soon after. My last question for you is where are you located? DA Props AKA BFA AKA The Shed of Glittering Delights is based in the UK. If you are in the UK then you have that option along with RS Props, Troopermaster, and RWA. They are all top of the line choices and I know that RS and Troopermaster offer sets built completely. If you are based in the US you can look at them as well as some of the others listed such as ATA, WTF, MTK, AP, Anovos, etc. If you are interested head over to the New Member area and tell us a little more about yourself.

  18. FYI, I may have started it all, but it was the tireless and unrelenting effort of a whole team of people who helped build and grow this site. Everyone who has ever been on staff is owed the same gratitude.
