  1. Solid advice on the paint, and great that you are doing it yourself. I think I had my wife do mine on my old AP.

  2. Hey Mike, great job on the painting and trimming! I figured out why your grey doesn't look so clean. Humbrol paints NEED to be shaken, and then stirred to get the pigment mixed in with the base really well. Shake the little jar for a minute, then open it and stir it up some more with a toothpick before dipping your brush. You'll be amazed at how much better the paint goes onto the plastic. As far as the vocoder, you should be using the semigloss black (or satin black)... That looks really shiny, are you sure you're in the right jar? (: Positioning of the mic tips looks great!

  3. From building my FX kit i learnt the following points; 1) Refer to forum. 2) Measure twice cut once 3) Dont use a strong glue that will melt your ABS. 4) Refer to forum. I always start a project by making up some reference sheets i can easily carry around. Sheet 3 will be my helmet sheet (TBC).

  6. Wahooooooo, thank you very much indeed. The left side is proving to be a bit of a pickle. It's been such fun putting this kit together, can't wait to start trooping next weekend

  8. Hi Mike, I did exactly the same with my first lid. A lot of the colour charts available still show gloss rather than satin. Easy fix though. Build is looking good. :-) Dan

  10. The closer you make them to the original boots, the more you will sell. Trust me.

  11. I only use the rubber gloves for canon troops, a it tends to get just a little warm here in Florida and they tend to fill up with sweat in no time. Even cotton "liners" don't help when it's 98 degrees outside. You will need them for level 3 but like Paul mentioned many switch to Nomex ones after Centurion approval for comfort. If you do go with Nomex eventually, I recommend getting the ones with the extended wrist. The ones with the shorter wrist tend to come out of the forearm opening exposing your skin. -----------

  12. Unfortunately, you have already made a mistake by over trimming the button plates. There should be a border left on the main plate.

  14. Nice work so far, correct placement for the S trim. As long as you can get your head inside then keep trimming of the opening to a minimum.
