I am new and I am really stuck. I just want to submit photos of costume parts to the Laison but I don't know how. I try to submit photos here but I can't submit more than one.

One of the 501st websites say I have to show my costume as if I already have it. Wouldn't it be pointless to get a costume just for it not to get approved? I feel stupid and I feel like I am missing something here. I have been through the CRL and the things seem to match up. I just want to ask a higher up if they would approve these certain items that I don't have yet.

What TK version costume are you making?

Morning Kaleb, welcome to the forums!.. When you have all your costume together with all parts you take the photos.

 

First step is to work out where you are located and reach out to the local garrison, they will then have an email address these photos need to go to; generally gml@garrisonname.com or similar.

 

Once you have that address you will need to get dressed in your costume and take the necessary photos and send these to the Garrison Membership Liaison who will judge your costume against the CRL and provide any feedback needed.

 

Assuming you are building a Stromtrooper (TK) you will find a vendor list on these forums of components that in the past have been approved, note that nothing is off the shelf approved; the costume needs to fit you properly so you may find details need adjusting.

 

Best bet is to find your local garrison, join their forums and introduce yourself, they will be able to assist you on the path....

We can definitely help with your costume.  To upload photos, you will need to use a photo storage site like imgur or flickr .  Most use imgur except those in the UK as it won’t work for them.  
 

Here is a great place to start looking at everything that you will need for your journey (assuming you are looking at doing a stormtrooper costume. 
 

These links specifically will help with getting photos posted so we can help you get to the point of approval.

As you are quickly realising, this hobby requires a lot of research.

Luky for all new members, this is now a lot easier then when I and many much older members started.

Now days, you only need ask a question and we will point you in the right direction.

This resource (FISD) is massive and can be very overwhelming, but rest assured, there is no such thing as a stupid question, so keep asking for what you dont understand, keep looking at the threads you are directed to and the advice given.

This is a long journey we have all taken, and you won't regret it.

lots of fun, a great community, and we do a lot of good out there in the wide world.

Hey Kaleb - welcome! 

 

I have been in a very similar position, but trust me - there's so much help on offer to get you where you need to be. 

 

First question - what part of the world do you live in? We can help connect you with your local Garrison if you're not sure. Your local garrison might also have a mentor program that can help you with your build and application. 

 

As stated above, there's also different versions of the classic stormtrooper - each with subtle difference I hadn't really noticed until I got stuck into this. Your armour may closely align with one particular one and that will help shape the direction you go.

 

Imgur and other photo sharing sites are great to use, but even if you can post one pic of your kit here, some of us will be able to probably spot some of the tells we've come to learn and give you some initial guidance.

 

Good luck - you'll be trooping in no time and you'll have a great sense of satisfaction once it's all done and approved.
