camprandall
Looks good Rob! Can't believe how fast you whipped this up. So one thing that seems to be the case - and it's hard to tell if it's just the photos - but this seems a little chunkier than the one on screen. Is it just the perspective? Maybe it's just that it should be further extended and that's all. Here is a comparison to see what I'm saying. The ratio of the gaps between the black bars looks bigger compared to the arm thickness compared to yours. Again, hard to tell how much is the perspective though. TK-Sonic[TK]
Thnx camprandall. At first it does seem a bit clunky but after assembly and test battles with the baton. Its actually a pretty good size. We based this off of the toy Baton with some screen shots thrown in.
camprandall
Ok thanks. One other thing. (you know, since you asked). There are black stripes on the central rod as well. It seems that it will change it a good bit to add those. I assume this is a version 2 thing?
Bayani[TK]
Looks promising. Looking forward to to see how this develops.
TK-Sonic[TK]
Yep. Working on improvements, we worked hard to get the prototype done in time for the movie.
More things will be added in due time.
Thanx for the tips, its the stuff were looking for. Totally understand! Just giving feedback. Honestly it's probably a little silly to talk about upgrades at this point with the movie so close. We'll have great shots of the thing in a little over a week.
Daetrin[Admin]
I hope so. It's great to see more people doing these - I'm guessing they will become very popular.
mitcheg1[501st]
It's obviously hard to tell from the limited resources available, but I assume the extending portions also pop-out. In the pic above with the baton extended , they are obviously offset from the centerline of the baton. But in the collapsed position, they seem to be compressed and aligned to centerline. I've been contemplating how to mechanize this. I love how it snaps open in the clip that Billhag posted! ----------- Edited July 1, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link removed no longer working
gmrhodes13[Staff]
Nice work. I also agree it looks a little bulky in comparison. I went with red in the centre section. ukswrath[Staff]
Very nice. BTW please put me on your sales list for one.
Vertex[TK]
Agree with others on the proportions. Any chance we could get a pic of this next to a forearm armor? It might help to figure out scale in conjunction with the pic Clint posted.
camprandall
I will say that the pics Peter posted on FB with the whole suit and finished kit looked much better proportionally so I'm guessing it's just a trick of the photo/lighting. Maybe Peter can post some of those here.

camprandall
I'm confused - I though this and the one Peter offered were two different batons. Sorry, I crossed my wires! Now I'm confused at which one I saw. There are several popping up.
Vertex[TK]
No worries - I easily get confused You're right though Peter's seems to be more proportional. Not knocking on KBA's - after all its a prototype/WIP and as you inferred the pictures (angle) could be skewing the perceived proportions a bit. TK-Sonic[TK]
Actually I am finishing up V.1 Baton in next few days and will be taking photos.. So stay tuned guys. Edited December 31, 2015 by TK-Sonic
Bayani[TK]
Rob, I'm hoping a collapsed version is offered as well. We have two batons already however, KB's approach would make it favorably lighter so that we can holster it.
TK-Sonic[TK]
We will be working on the revised version soon. Slimmer, longer, more accurate.
We are still figuring out the mechanism parts to make it a real fuctional prop.
TK-Sonic[TK]
Test run over Star Wars movie release wknd. DylanHarris99
It seems a little larger and bulkier than the one used in the movie, but it looks good so far. Edited December 26, 2015 by DylanHarris99
klmeyer93
I found this in the TFA: The Visual Dictionary . Not sure how accurate this stuff is to the movie, but I thought it could be useful! Very interested in this
