  1. I found this in the TFA: The Visual Dictionary . Not sure how accurate this stuff is to the movie, but I thought it could be useful! Very interested in this
  2. Dang, Jim's sounds pretty good. Definitely the best price-wise too. <br><br> I've requested a spot on the wait list - we'll have to wait and see how it fits on a 5' 3" shorty like me! I'm sure I'll be doing some trimming.
  3. Been looking there too - and I think this might be "Jim?" Or just a coincidence. Either way he's away until January, but pretty good looking armor I think? There are accuracy updates in the later pages. But it's a flexible fiberglass... thoughts on that over plastic? http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=245993
  4. My bet is a long time. The maker gave a rough quote of $1100 for the kit, $1500 ready to wear (probably just sanded and whatnot), which seems to be close to what other makers are charging for armor-only kits. (This is armor only). I'm assuming the lowish price is because they're already making the 3d models, and just resizing for me. That's good to know that it's more brittle than ABS. So far I've only been able to find this and a (flexible?) fiberglass maker... and a single plastic maker with kits that will START at $1400+. It's a rough hunt for TFA armor right now haha
  5. Hey all! I've been looking into armor makers for a TFA stormtrooper kit, and recieved an offer from a guy to 3D print armor specific to my measurements. I have requested further information (and will update here once I get it!), but I'm curious as to what you guys think of 3D printed plastics as armor. My guess is that it would be lighter than fiberglass, and would withstand normal/gentle use?
  6. If I may ask, what kit will you be using for the "base?"
  7. Oh yeah. The wait list is another huge drawback. They rushed helmet production to have the first month's orders shipped for the movie... and I've been seeing defects as a result. It's a choice between pre-ordering early and risking poor production, or waiting and hoping for a long wait to pay off. I've seen mention of 'Jim' as well. Hopefully I can find out who he is, since he's the only real lead I have!
  8. I've been doing some searching around, and I've noticed a lot of posts (especially in sales) about TFA belts, boots, blasters, a few buckets, and other such accessories... But little to nothing for the actual armor kits. Anyone know who'd building them, and if anyone is selling yet? Of course there's ANOVOS, but I've heard ugly rumors about their kit prices.. eesh. (My apologies if this is in the wrong board - this seemed like the best place for a discussion)
