  1. what paint did you use? Looks great. did you leave off the right leg ammo belt?
  2. look at the photos and captions off to the right on this page http://web.mac.com/mikeharrison/armor.html Luke's faced forward, Han's faced backwards
  3. ---------- Not many US options... just saw this one. Would you have to color the rubber sole black?
  4. actually a relisted auction. $76 did not meet his reserve last week.
  5. I'm not sure what you are asking - the neck and brow trim that came with the kit are fine by me, I know the neck trim is not the screen accurate neck trim - but it works well. if you are asking about the paint trim details - the blue stripes are ordered from one of the sellers here ( I have used them both, both nice products). the traps, ears, frown were all hand painted.
  6. the pat@barrettproducts.com email produced a quick response with all the attached files.... nice guy, supporting his product, even though I bought it second hand!
  7. Thanks for the kind words. I am happy with the result. A couple more shots: I used the FIMO blocked glued inside, then screwed the lenses down. someone had a thread on how to do this a couple months ago - I like it!
  8. It is finished. A few more pics to follow.
  9. And I got up early to check! You got me puzzled, if that is some sort of hint, I am not getting it..... Another hint?
  10. What time should we tune in for the announcement?
  11. YES... i made the mistake of not triming intially, then had to go back and do it - it was hitting me right in the adam's apple!
  12. Trooper comm interface's web site has been down for a couple weeks or so. There was an online instruction manual. Does anyone have this saved that could be posted or emailed?
  13. What do you think about plastidip, sprayed or painted on the inside? -----
  14. Put it together, then paint. I don't know of anyone that has done it by hand paint - I used spray paint. The Rustoleum High gloss worked WELL! I used both the exacto knife AND a little bit of dremel, although I think you could do most (all?) of the ATA with the knife.... it is fairly thin and easy to work with. Then again, who doesn't have a need for a dremel once in a while - you know you want one! I agree - use the above videos for guidance. They are spot on, extremely helpful, done by what seems to be regarded as the best armor builder/assembler/painter around. Plus you can buy his decals for your ATA lid too. ----- good luck, have fun, take pictures (and post them). Derek
  15. did you think about following Riveting's method? ------- That fabric would look good with this method. There always seems to be demand, although the orginal maker said there was several hours of labor in each one!
  16. took a try at building a mg15. I used TK409's measurements, and pictures for reference. I am pretty happy with the result. Not perfect, but I like it. Used 2 inch, 1.5 inch, and 1 inch pvc. couplers - between the sizes. a toy handgun a "Daisy" bb gun scope. 2 quart sized paint cans
  17. requesting access. just got my TK number 5144 http://www.501st.com/members/displaymember...hp?userID=10879 Thanks!
  18. did some hand painting. Started with the TD approach. This may yet be my TD lid someday. no decals so far. that necktrim was a little tricky to get on. I didn't like the look at first, but now with it on and from the side... I like it. It also gives the neck a more rigid, secure feel. I painted the hovi's black, glued in the screen over the hovi tips. Just need to install them. need to order the tube stripes. need to cut the lenses.
  19. I cut out a little more from the frown. added the mesh behind it also. compare that with my "first cut"
  20. I couldn't even get my FX on with my glasses on. I have to wear the contacts. Maybe some sort of goggles like the basketball players wear might fit?
  21. I have been pondering the same question. did you watch these: ----- I think Mike addressed a crack in the HIPS there, but I cant remember which episode. He used a product called Zap a Gap, followed by a spray Zip Kicker to make it dry fast. I used this on the back of a weak area in my ATA helmet, and it seems to be much stronger. also here he uses the plastic welder ----- I had thought of coating the tube, face area with this from the inside - it dried rock solid. One question that I am still wondering,( maybe someone who has a armor set can answer) is if the body parts are made of a thicker grade of HIPS? I don't think it would be practical to prophylactically coat the entire suit of armor with zap a gap, or with the plastic welder. I had considered trying Plastidip spray - coating the entire inside of the armor? might add a bit of strength? Derek
  22. you mean a few mm's, right? Surely not even a cm is needed. I agree with the above, make it yours... all of them from the movie probably had little nuances, differences, etc. Thanks for the compliments, this was also my first real helmet build (other than the FX, followed by the MRCE mod) I am actually still tinkering with the MRCE mod, trying to get it just right. My ATA is still sitting with white paint only. I am a little nervous about starting the paint and detail work. What neck trim are you going to use for your ATA? I test fit the supplied stuff and was not happy with the result. Derek
