  1. I had an amazing first troop. I'm in this for the charity, first and foremost. Friends, a close second. The charity was great. 5 Bad Guys Did Good today and I have 4 new friends. Great guys who really made me feel welcome in my new garrison. Thanks David, Brad, Andrew and Dan. I learned a bunch and had fun. Thanks Dan, TK-2759, for the cotton gloves to wear beneath my rubber gloves. Really made it easy to get my hands out after the troop and not have dish pan hands. And for straightening my drop box after that little girl hugged my leg. Thanks Brad, TK-21814 AKA 68Brick, for the advise on foam for fixing my thigh to make me look better. And thanks to each of the guys who asked me several times, knowing it was my first troop, if I was doing ok. Safety, really important. We shared stories and hugs after the troop. Again, amazing first troop.
  2. Yikes. I didn't fill mine either. I might do that this week. I do have white duct tape in my bin just in case, but... Can you just pull up the big flat front part and kinda wedge something in there and fill it with E6000 without pulling it all off? I might try that.
  3. Thanks. That will have to wait until after Christmas I think. I'm off to my first charity troop today with my local garrison!
  4. TK-19165 reporting for duty! Wow, that was fast! Thanks everyone for your help and feedback. I look forward to serving with my garrison and meeting many of you in the future. I will continue my build thread with the mods and electronics I plan for my TK as well as any interesting info I may find useful.

  6. Looking great! I found the chest plate to be asymmetrical. Hand sculpt, go figure. The bevel on the right side made gluing up the strap there tricky. Once you're wearing it I don't think anyone will be able to see what you perceive to be asymmetrical. The reason you'll get Centurion is your attention to detail.
  7. Woke up to a nice email. My photos have been approved by my local GML. Now it's up to the 501st. As long as this happens before my birthday (February) I'll be happy. Then EIB and Centurion! ...hopefully.
  8. I kinda figured I would be putting the undersuit in a plastic bag after trooping. Probably the gloves and boots too. Good to know about the staining potential. Thanks.
  9. After trying out my new compression top I managed to pack everything away in my bin, helmet excluded. I need to make a bag or something for the blaster. I have enough left over material from the bin I can use. I'm pretty happy it all actually fits. Arms with shoulders attached go into calves which go into thighs. Thighs sit in opposite direction from each other in the abdomen. Boots go on either side of cod. Undersuit and neck seal just tuck in where there is space. Belt wraps around everything on the outside. TD tucks next to shoulder strap. Gloves tuck in at sides or other space. Blaster and Aker amp sit on top. The lid closes and I can't feel any sort of resistance. Sweet! Helmet bag coming for Christmas. No, I didn't peek. It's the only thing I asked for.
  10. I got rid of the entire return edge at the top of my thighs. I glued the front up with the 20mm cover strip before deciding where to trim/adjust at the back. This helped me a lot with shaping them. Without the return edge I was able to raise the thighs to a good height. Yours doesn't look too bad as far as height goes. Maybe a little higher? More experienced TKs should chime in here. Keep in mind the cod will rub the thighs if they are too high. Noisy and maybe even chafing. Yikes.
  11. My tighter compression top came today. Much better and not as thick as the original one. I put the whole suit on and walked around my house for about 15 minutes. Much cooler with the new top for sure. My submission pics are in and I'm just waiting for my GML to review them.
  12. My OCD is something I struggle with all the time. Hopefully it will get me to Centurion. I keep reminding myself the screen used suits were practically thrown together and you can even see white tape on one of them at the beginning of ANH.
  13. Just make sure you cap the posts before the PlastiDip. Sorry to state the obvious. Would probably help hold the Sugru on too. Give the posts a wiggle before the PlastiDip to ensure they are solid. If I had thought about the lenses before I used the PlastiDip I would have waited and PlastiDipped after. I was just too impatient waiting for E6000 to dry on my armour.
  14. My repair with E6000 did not work. That screw came right off again. I used CA glue and that did the trick. If you have used Plasti Dip on you helmet I would recommend removing more than I did for the screw area and lightly sand that area for good adhesion.
  15. I have the 1505. It is 12 watts I believe. Most people seem to be using the 1506. It's 10 watts. The 1506 is smaller than the 1505. Probably 15-20% smaller. The one I have is plenty loud. I got it off Amazon.ca for around $70 I think. Hard to find now but there are lots of options. I've only played around with Trooper Talk. Works well but you meed a special cable for it to work. $25US I think. The whole set-up so far is around $110. I'm considering pulling the guts out of the housing just to save some space under the armour.
  16. So, the eyes are done. That same Chicago screw came out again. E6000 didn't stand a chance. CA glue to the rescue! All the other screws held firm, weird. Mysterious green lenses...oooh....ahhhh! I'm happy with the results.
  17. I think you made the right choice. Much easier to remove than to add. Just use E6000 to glue. The dry time is worth it if you need to change things. My AP kit has small arms (for me at least). The asymmetry is what makes these kits feel like there is a human touch IMHP. I love the differences in the various makers. If everything was symmetrical and precise I don't think we would see as many people trooping because the various kits wouldn't allow for different body types. Keep going. Your progress looks good.
  18. Wow. Just wow. Really nice MrShaky (yeah right). I almost feel confident enough to pull off my stickers and paint after seeing your work...almost. OK, not quite. I promise to paint everything on my Sandtrooper.
  19. I found that there is still a little bunching of the elastic but your new placement looks and works better. Your arms are looking good.
  20. Here is the link to the forum for the crosshairs. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/8467-cross-hairs-for-e-11-blaster-scope/
  21. Blaster. I purchased a resin blaster from Quest Design Canada off Etsy after a conversation with members from my local garrison. This being my first build I wanted to purchase a completed blaster. This is a really nice blaster with great details. The rear sight on the scope is blank. It needs detail. I will also need to bore it out a little to install the lens I want to put in it. I purchased a head lice removal kit from my local pharmacy just for the small magnifying glass. FYI, I'm bald. I can't get lice. I cut the handle off and covered the lens with painter's tape to protect it while I sanded the edges off. The sanding took about 15 minutes. You can see how shallow the scope is at this end. The lens fits nicely. I found these crosshairs on the forum in a post from October 2009. There are several to choose from. I did a quick sizing and a rough draft print to see how it would look. I think this will look great when it's done. The lens needs a fine sanding around the edges to clean it up. I know most people won't even notice this, but I will.
  22. One of the nice things about waiting for glue to dry is it gives one time to think of all the little nitty gritty things that still need to be done with the armour. Painting screw heads for instance. First coat.
  23. Looking great! Just a little jealous too. I'm amazed at the differences I'm able to spot between the various armour makers now. This looks like a really good kit...and a great shop to build it in.
