  1. Here is a pic of my bicep before trimming and gluing it up. Make sure your cut is parallel to this raised edge. You should be trying for a 15mm cover strip for your arms. Wider is ok too.
  2. Perfect. Now other troopers of similar size might be able to help too. Yes, cut nothing at the bottom, just like you said. More towards the top. Cut it straight. This will help in many ways. Way easier to glue it up with a cover strip. That's a strange one. Don't worry about that. Just keep posting pics and asking questions.
  3. Hello from Canada Fredrik! First of all, you can do it. I know the feeling of being terrified of making a mistake. I was there too. I had no armour parties to go to either. All I had was the support of this forum. The FISD members helped me through it. You can do it. What I see from your 3 pictures if fine. Nothing horrible. First, the eye. Just use a little sandpaper to round that sharp corner. Not a big deal. Go slowly. Take your time and all will be fine. The crack in the shoulder bell is fixable. You've started out repairing it properly. Again, not a big deal. What glue are you using? Can you get E6000 in Norway? If you can I think you would love using it. Super strong and it also allows you to pull things apart if you make a mistake. I have used two tubes of it (59.1ml) on my TK. It is smelly though and you'll need good ventilation. Another thing you could try for the repair is ABS paste. You'll need to make some. Search the FISD forum for the recipe. It's easy. Your bicep looks like it could be a little smaller. For fitting it, try overlapping the joins and taping it a little smaller. See how that goes. Keep in mind that hard armour on a soft body is going to shift around. But joint construction is the way to go, but for fitting, before you cut, try overlapping as a rough guide. As far as the return edge goes, they are not required at all. They look nice but are not necessary. Especially in the top of the bicep that no-one will ever see. Post your height and weight here. There are troopers of all heights, weights and body types. Knowing your height and weight will allow troopers with a similar build to help you fit your armour better. Keep posting questions, post lots of pics using the "Insert other Media" function and "Insert image from URL" within that. Then pics will appear on this page and not just the link. You can do this Fredrik!
  4. I blame Greg and Daniel. Peer pressure. I just couldn't take it any more. I can't believe I let you two talk me into this. Something I've been thinking about for a while now. Yup. Painting time! The stickers come off easily enough but now I'm committed. First one. And the second one. A little clean up with a toothpick when this dries and the grey goes on. I guess I'll need to keep these for reference when I hand paint the stripes with no stencils. I just hope I can get this done before my troop on Thursday.
  5. I don't have any stencils. I might just free hand it. Not the tube stripes though. I have a troop on Thursday and I'm scared I wouldn't be finished before then. Maybe just one at a time. Hmmm.
  6. Looks great Greg! ...here comes that urge to paint again.
  7. The wrist ends should have no return edge whatsoever for Centurion. Only trim the green shaded parts as needed for the cover strips/butt joints. No return edges are required for any level of certification. That is a matter of personal preference and comfort.
  8. Troopers helping Troopers! You may be able to have a slightly smaller cover strip when you lose all the return edge. Remember, return edges are not required for any level of certification. Make it fit well and make it as comfortable to wear as possible, especially the top of the thighs. Don't want any pinching there.
  9. I also lost the entire return edge all the way around the top of my thighs. Otherwise they would be too small. They are snug at the top as it is.
  10. The thighs were tricky for me too. Just barely big enough to fit. Perhaps some ABS paste will fill in that line? I know it's a bunch more work but I've seen great results on the forum from people who have used it.
  11. Great news for you! Start your build thread and ask questions. So many people here to help you. Good luck and have fun!
  12. Hmm. This makes me want a FOTK. Such a clean and precise build. Beautiful. You can explain it to my wife, OK?
  13. While waiting for my lock nuts to arrive (Amazon) I decided to go ahead and make the reenforcing strips for my armour. When the glue dries I will countersink the holes so the screws sit a little flatter on the outside. I taped each of the brackets close to the spot where they go. Because I made the brackets myself there are variances between them and I didn't want them to get mixed up. I love these magnets. I used E6000. I could have used CA glue but I've grown to like E6000 and how flexible and forgiving it is. Totally worth the dry time wait.
  14. Hi Greg. To quote you "The right ab to kidney elastic isn't doing much. I think I lost weight. The pieces are getting pushed overtop of each other." Well, it happened to me too. Except not the losing weight part . As soon as I put the belt on I had this issue. Except it's not an issue at all, I think. If I wasn't so tech inept I'd post a screen cap. I have seen this many times on the forum. Screen caps of this exact thing. Overlap on the bottom. When we taped our armour to ourselves the tape wasn't strong enough to pull the armour tight like the belt or we were just to scared to make it that tight being new to all this. I watched Star Wars on Jan 1 and I saw this often. Maybe The Swede can chime in here but I think it's ok.
  15. Awesome! I'm glad you ordered one. I don't find it very heavy at all. But I guess compared to a plastic blaster it is.
  16. Hey. Just stumbled upon this today. I have this blaster and it is beautiful. No seam lines. Comes flat black. Weathering needed. If you want the spring you will need to make one. The back of the blaster comes open so you can install it. The blaster is resin. For a really long troop it might get tiring after a while but way less so than a HWT rifle. Totally worth the $ IMHO.
  17. I don't know Daniel... Looks a little too good. Nicely done. Great looking TK. Please tell my wife it is good for me to have more than one awesome suit.
  18. Ok. I got at it a little. One thing that wasn't on my ever growing list was to install inner cover strips on the shins. The amount I stress the shins opening them up every time I put them on had me worried. Glued in place with ample E6000. Shoulder bells. Before. After. Wider elastic (1") and tighter. If you look closely at the top edges of the bell you can see some discolouration. This is from my compression top. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser really helps clean this up. I was told about not keeping my black things against the white armour while not in use. If it sits in my armour bin for any amount of time, I put it in a white plastic bag. Gloves, neck seal, balaclava or under suit.
  19. Thanks Mike. Be sure to check out wook1138's AP build thread too. Great build and info.
  20. I spent New Year's morning watching Star Wars, what else? Wow. It's amazing what you see with new eyes. Being immersed in armour for the last month and a bit has really made me notice things that were invisible to me before. Gaps, duct tape, inconsistencies between troopers's armour etc. Having done a couple of troops now I also know things that need changing on my own armour. New tighter elastic in the shoulders to hold them to the biceps better. Shorter straps between the biceps and shoulders to keep the bicep from popping out. More reshaping of my back to chest connection on the right side so it sits even flatter to the armour. More padding in the helmet to make it sit better and be more comfortable. Tighter compression pants. Current ones are too baggy. Even after throwing them in the dryer. New thinner amp in the chest (Aker 1505 is too thick with the belt clip on the back) with access to the volume control while wearing the suit. Will this ever end? Probably not, and that's ok.
  21. Wow Greg! Your armour is looking great. You've made huge progress the last few days. My butt flared out more on the right side and I added an extra elastic loop to my brackets. It helped a bit. Putting your snap closer to the end is the way to go. Butt flare on the left is mostly covered by the holster. Your belt looks great. I put the washer on the inside of the dropbox. The rivet has enough flare on the outside to not cause problems. Loads of E6000 is the way to go for sure to join the fronts and backs. Again, looking great!
  22. Ha ha! I didn't even need to look at an Aurebesh alphabet to read it. Happy New Year!
