  1. So tempting...hmm...I can feel the Dark Side growing within me...
  2. I put my application in for Centurion yesterday. Glad to get this in before I start work on the 29th. Hopefully I won't need to do much or anything to be approved. Fingers crossed. On a surprising note, I finally got an email from Anovos saying they are finally issuing a refund. It only took 3 months. They are saying I will see it in 2-5 days. I guess on their timeframe that means about another month. Ha. I will believe it when I see it.

  4. Matt, I watched ANH on New Years Day and saw things I had never seen before after 40 years of watching it (100+ times)! After immersing oneself in 'Stormtrooper Everything' while building, you learn so much and see so much more than you imagined possible. p.s. Hi Greg.
  5. Great photos Carl Ray! I've done 3 troops so far and have my next two booked. It's great to see the reactions of all the kids (& grown kids) when they see us. Keep posting.
  6. I'm loving the 3D printed work on your build. What Brad says about the snap connection for the forearms is a good point. My arms are joined together from the shoulder down and it is tricky to snap the shoulder into place because of the limited range of motion I have. Forearms being separate would make things a whole lot easier when it comes to suiting up.
  7. You are getting so close to finished! Looking great Greg!
  8. Are all new photos required for a Centurion application? From my EIB application/acceptance January 10, I have one change to my TK which I know needs new photos. Other than that, should I be taking all new photos in addition to the Centurion specific requirements?
  9. Yeah, those split rivets. Hard to find for me. I'd like to redo my straps but can't without split rivets. Hmm. I think if we had return edges on our ab to kidney joins the overlap wouldn't happen. Didn't affect my EIB though and nothing was mentioned for Centurion prep comments either. The gap on the split rivet side is clearly visible in my photos as is the overlap. Good tip about roughing up the nylon.

  11. I got my EIB today. I'm pretty happy about that. I only need a little more glue on my drop boxes to keep them in place better for my Centurion application. Sweet!
  12. I like this idea. I think I'm going to try this. My nylon straps have stretched and I do not like the small gap that has been created.
  13. Something else I did last week that was on my list was reshape the right shoulder strap and heat/bend the back to better fit me. In my Expert Infantry submission I can see the strap and back issue. I'm much happier with it now. Before. After. Much better.
  14. Looking really good Mike. My thighs are different sizes too. Weirdos, huh? Your sniper knee looks really good. That was, perhaps, the hardest and most frustrating part of my build. Great work.
  15. First clean up pass. Left side. Right side. My confidence is slowly returning. Thanks for the encouragement and kind words.
  16. I don't/can't drink beer, so no, unfortunately. Good idea though.
  17. Thanks, but I should have waited another hour before painting to let my morning coffee wear off a little more. Just when I thought I was painting a straight line my hand would shake and...dang it! Try again and...Dang it! The tears are really going to be a challenge. Look what you made me do! Haha.
  18. After waiting about an hour I took the tape off. I won't need it for the cleanup. Doesn't look as bad as I thought. There's a bit of work to do yet but I'm feeling ok about this. Certainly looks hand painted. LOL.
  19. All that confidence I was feeling before kinda slipped away this morning as I was painting the stripes. I know I can get this done but wow, it's hard. I'm sure I could become quite good at this after, say, 20-30 helmets. My OCD is getting the best of me this morning. That's ok. I'm learning. One thing is for sure, I'm gonna be good at clean ups by the time this is done. First, I measured the length of the stripes, 22mm, on the stickers I removed. I also measured the distance from the bottom of the sticker, 7mm. The stripes on the stickers have a somewhat square end so I decided to tape the top and bottom as a guide. I made sure the spacing was correct. I penciled in the 12 lines I needed to paint. And...clean up in aisle 7. Some aren't too bad. Some need a bunch of work. It's just the first pass. Getting this done before Thursday is going to be tight.
  20. I only did the second coat of grey. Not much different and not worth pics. Today I will do the stripes. Then there will be pics.
  21. I'm watching your build too! Ha! You inspired me to go ahead and make those reenforcing strips and countersink my screws. However, your 3D printed work is fantastic. I just hacked my way through it . I've been wanting to paint once I started building my armour and got comfortable with the process. It feels like the right thing for me to do. I feel really positive about what I can achieve with hand painting. Never thought I would ever say that. Ever. Look what this forum does to people!
  22. I've painted the first layer of grey. I started cleaning up the black and found some places still a little tacky so that will have to wait until tomorrow. I will go over the lines with a very thin brush tomorrow to straighten everything out. Overall, I am pretty happy with how this is turning out. I think I might have these two done by my troop on Thursday. After that I will pull the cheek and brow stickers off and paint those. My final troop of the month is on the 21st so I should have time to get it all done for that.
  23. I use the 'Direct Link' option, not 'Image Link' in imgur to post my pics.
