  1. Greetings fellow troopers! My kid's school is trying to collect postcards from countries outside the United States for a geography project. The postcards don't need to be 501st related, preferably of something near and dear to the region they are from to help them with their geography. If there's any chance someone would kindly send us some postcards from another country the class would greatly appreciate it. If you can help us out please reply below so we can keep an eye on the mailbox and not duplicate our efforts. The project ends the last day of April 2020. Thank you troopers! 2. Welcome Rob! Which kit did you order? While you got a little time waiting for big brown box day (BBB) go ahead and reach out to your local garrison right now! They may have a meet and greet or an armor party coming up where you can meet them and get a little more hands on time before your build arrives. Also, take a look at the Advanced Tactics page Expert Infantry and Centurion pages so you can see if you want to achieve those levels of screen accuracy. It's way better to start with those goals already in mind so you don't have to re-do or change anything later.
  3. Congrats! I'm still building my E11 for my ANH TK. Good luck!
  4. We like some confidence around here, even if it may be a Luke version trooper Start your build thread and ask away! Everyone around here is very helpful.
  5. Welcome to the detachment and good luck getting that done!

  8. Welcome Paige! Sadly with our poor eyesight us Stormtroopers do occasionally need wranglers around to keep us safe from obstacles and small children so welcome aboard! I understand Phasma is a pretty intense build from the couple of build threads I've seen and we can always use more. Heck if you get the itch to do some pre-Phasma trooping there are many other costumes you can build to get started. Of course here on FISD we are a little more fond of our troopers.
  9. Welcome JR! To FISD and to the Dune Sea Garrison (very soon i'm sure). Definitely post up a build thread here on FISD. You will get excellent feedback from people who know all about the white armor and if you have any problems there's always someone able to help you out. Just remember to take it slow whenever you come up on anything that makes you scratch your head.
  10. Welcome aboard Ian! Looks like you're getting loads of great advice so far.
  11. Just started wiring stuff up and testing. Is there a way to use two screens; one for Hengstler and the other in the scope? Sent from my sorrosuub C1 comm link device using Tapatalk
  12. I can attest to the greatness that is Ukswrath's build thread. It took a few months to build mine following his excellent example. Definitely look at what you're going to do a few times before you do it just like if you were being a carpenter. Loads of info on here to study while you wait for your kit to arrive once you order one.
  13. Welcome aboard. There's loads of various costumes to pick from. So when you decide on the one you like do some research on the forums and look to see what work it entails. There are many build threads as well as tips.
  14. Sounds like youā€™re on your way. Welcome aboard.
  15. Welcome aboard Saboshi! Definitely take your time to do your research and save up for what kit you truly want to have. You don't want to have any buyers remorse. You can start looking at some build tips and how to's here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/79-tutorials-tips-and-howtos/ and check out the feedback folks are getting by looking through the TK pre-approvals https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/193-request-tk-pre-approval/. Additionally if you strive for a more movie accurate set up look around in here for Expert infantry: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/95-expert-infantryman-program/ and even further with Centurion: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/66-fisd-centurion-program/.
  16. That's a great budget but being an inexperienced builder and needing to make two kits in such a short timeline may be a little rough. There's a wealth of info here depending on which kit you finally decide on.

  18. Welcome to the forums! I find it's always helpful to drag a medic around wherever you go regardless of duty status. Take your time and do your research before pulling the trigger on that gun. You'll want to not only be sure you've gotten a good deal on whatever you buy but that you'll be happy with your purchase after you start working on it.
  19. As for the mic nothing comes to mind thread wise but Lorelei has perfect search advice. I'm just using a the mic with a rigid boom I got on Amazon that came with my PA speaker. That cord runs down the inside of my neck seal out the top of my shirt behind the armor so it's not seen and under the backside of my chest plate where I have one of those chest high radio holders. The cord goes into my TKTalkie (think home built versatile iComm) and then the PA speaker. There's also a small power supply to run the TKTalkie. I second the balaclava idea. Definitely helps keep everything attached to your head when you slide your bucket on. http://www.tktalkie.com/
  20. Welcome to the Forums Junos! Nice to see a Michigander on here. I ran away from there many years ago to live in the desert but I would expect to hear that Michigan would be teeming with snow troopers. Sounds like you are on the right path with all those questions. I don't think it's been mentioned yet but, also find your local garrison and get in touch with them. You might get lucky enough to meet someone with the same costume you're considering building and get some tips from them too. A lot of the costumes get hot, especially inside the helmet. There's a bit of information out there on rigging up small computer fans to help keep you cool. You can run them off of small USB battery packs like you would buy to recharge your phone. I have 2 pair that run off two switches along with a hearing aid/assist unit so I can still hear what's going on outside my bucket in fabulous stereo. Blows other troopers minds when you can hear them and there talking a few feet away.
  21. For what it's worth In 2017 I paid ANOVOS $497 for mine with no soft goods. Sent from my sorrosuub C1 comm link device using Tapatalk
  22. My Armor is ANOVOS and I've been quite pleased with it. It's the first kit I've built and while I don't have a lot of experience building several previous costumes I found my way through and like how it looks. It's going to rest in personal preference as to whether you like the look of it and there are several manufactures that you can take to expert infantry or Centurion. Like has been said before take a gander at the Expert Infantry and Centurion approval threads to look at the different makers and how the final product appears to see where your tastes are.
