  1. I've had my blaster with me for most troops. Couldn't have it when we got the surprise the Prime Minister was going to be at the event. Usually everyone is in agreement before the troop whether you should have weapons or not. Lightsabers tend to be an exception. Gotta use your judgment. Just don't point the blaster at kids.
  2. I would suggest sending a DM to Tony or Sly to ask about this...I think the biggest issue was the taper. The strip size just needs to stay proportional. I am actually a bit curious as my recollection is that the thighs and the front of the shins should stay the same size and the backs of the shins should be about 5mm wider. I would ask if you can have a bigger ridge and have a 30mm cover strips with 5mm of ridge on each side or if you could do a 40mm cover strip covering the whole ridge.. You might find that info in someone else's build thread! (Edit: I should reread to correct typos first!)
  3. Yeah ears will probably cover that up, but as Mark says, if you are still having a gap issue after attaching the ears, it would be worth heating a little (but be careful if you do!)
  4. I think that the flashing that still needs to be removed is messing with my perception of correct button size for teh small button plate. I drew a circle (1/2"? Can't remember right now) using a template to ensure that size and alignment was good. I also found spinning the plate as you're painting helps keep things smooth and steady as you're approaching the edge.

  6. To clarify, return edges is usually referring to the area at the ends of parts that curve back and give the appearance of thickness. You're referring to the ridges for the cover strips. Understandable confusion, but I just wanted to mention it in case anyone gets mixed up. As for the alignment, cover strips should align with cover strips (biceps and forearms) when your arms are down, but obviously as you turn your forearms, the alignment will change. I have a strap from bicep to forearm at that area, so things stay lined up nicely. I've noticed many in my Garrison have just been letting the forearms freefloat, but I like my attachment better. It also minimizes the black area between the armour parts. All that to say: Looks good to me! Your bicep make feel like it's big now, but once all your armour is on, I don't think it'll stand out.
  7. Another username change! Gotta make up your mind! Hahah.
  8. Your belt could sit a bit lower as well. Ideally, the ABS part of the belt is just touching the bottom of the large button plate. All painted buttons should be visible. This is in addition to the other feedback you've received. Depending on how the shoulder bridges are attached to the chest plate, I would probably reattach them lower, that is to say that more bumps would be on the plate. You have a lot showing in the back, so that would even it out.
  9. I'll be following along! I've basically been following a few select threads here at a time and as folks finish up their builds, I look for others to help for the duration of their builds. In other words, I'll be helping you till approval! Regarding forearms, yes, armour goes on and then gloves and you tuck the gloves in. My head is enormous so I took a lot of ABS out of the opening and it's still a bit tight putting it on. The public generally doesn't see you suit up, so it's okay if you need to wiggle a bit to get it on. I would suggest you also join the forums of your local garrison if you haven't already - they'll be able to help you with locating supplies and also you may find out about armour parties you could attend! I recommend handling at a few events to get a feel for trooping and to ask questions!
  10. Hi there, hoping you're at least enjoying your recovery a little with this build! I'm impressed you got your ears to fit so well when you started by trimming those! I started trimming my ears after joining the two parts of my helmet and I still have some gaps. Looks good! Regarding the teeth, I think you can keep taking out more. You still have a lot of ABS you can take out at the top and bottom and then you also can either make them more pill-formed or more rectangular. Needle file set is good for this fine tuning. The S-trim is on correctly in the second photo unless I'm mistaken. I cut my cover strips to size before gluing. Seems easier to me, but that's a minor thing. You may want to consider strips on the inside as well. Helps make everything a little more solid. Looks like you're making good progress! Keep it up!
  11. I bent by hand and yes it was a pain. You could put some tape on your pliers to avoid damaging/scratching the ABS for your strips.
  12. Yes the hot water bath will definitely help with the shape! I wouldn't worry about getting biceps down very exactly since they hang from the shoulder bells anyway so some looseness is fine. Perhaps work on shoulder bells and forearms simultaneously to get an idea of how it all looks together. Will you be reforming the ridge for the cover strips? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Regarding sizing, instead of gluing and ungluing, you can just tape and untape and cut down small amounts at a time.
  14. The flat side is down. Think about this: the butt plate and kidney plate rest against each other. The back plate only rests on the middle of the kidney plate, where it's pretty much flat. That, and the curvature of your kidney plate should ideally continue with the curvature where it meets the ab plate at the top.
  15. Reese, this thread is for the R1 Stormtrooper only. The Deathtrooper CRL will be discussed/created by Spec Ops.

  17. Removing the return on your shins is not the end of the world...it's not a requirement to have it, though most would say it looks better if you do! But I guess I will await to see your update to find out more!
  18. Yes, I would second that internal strip recommmendation. Helps everything feel a little more sturdy!
  19. I'm going to say no. The changes are simply too numerous and significant!
  20. Good luck! Yes, interesting to mark the ears. Seems like every bucket lines up in its own unique way. Hopefully the lines are helpful.
  21. Hmm I think you're the first person I've seen putting female snaps directly into the kidney or ab plate. It's possible that the ABS's thickness does not allow the male snap to attach properly.
  22. Is that photo of the ammo belt on your thigh where you actually attached it? Hard to tell. It looks really high and not on the ridge, but then on the photo of the finished thigh, it looks like it's at the right height. Just wanted to double check.
  23. ABS sludge. You'll then need to sand and polish. I would suggest waiting till you're done using the dremel. You may need to use it in other spots as well...I know I still do! My slip ups are not in the most noticeable spots though.
  24. You mean between the two ridge parts? Not the end of the world. You could always fill with ABS sludge. Keep in mind the right thigh front will be hidden by the ammo pack.
  25. Okay fair enough! I just took the dremel to them since there's quite a bit to get rid of all the return edge. Peruse some Centurion applications to see some examples. Good luck continuing your build!
