  1. Yes, but it's hard to tell how they fit because of the black under-suit/black background.

    I know, just teasing.

    Mark,

It looks like you could probably remove some more of the return edge at the top of the thigh. It can probably also taper a bit more to the knee (unless your thighs are really muscular and it literally cannot fit).

I’d offer to pop around and have a gander this weekend but I’ve got #dancedad duties and prop work to do. Unless you want to pop around to me on Sunday?

Alternatively, if you can wait that long (and I realise we want to maintain momentum while you’ve got your mojo back), we can make the trims and glue them next week at the AP.

  2. My garrison is looking at marking social events in neutral locations like BBQ in a park to simply get people talking face to face again. We also welcome all new comers and rookies/cadets so they can’t talk to other members about costumes etc etc. we are planning for 4 a year in reasonable central locations. If we put flags and banners up we can also use them for recruiting.

We do that too - call that Buckets ‘n Beer

For us it’s predominantly aimed at Cadets and prospective members, but we get a good turn out from the Garrison - way more chilled than an AP

  3. We’ve got a few initiatives planned for the year. The one which has already kicked off is the GCOs Challenge: 12 in 20.

Simple really: he’s challenged garrison members to do 12 troops during the year. The obvious math is one troop a month.

Troopers sign up for the challenge and we keep score. Simple really.

We’ve probably got about a third of the garrison signed up. It hasn’t brought many of those troopers doing their mandatory one annual troop out, tbh, but it is encouraging to see those that average under 10 signing up.

  5. Hi from Melbourne

    My advice is two-fold.

Don’t let the blaster (or lack thereof) hold up your basic approval. It’s not required and you can add it later.

Secondly, if it’s an either/or situation go for the E-11. As you’re wearing a holster you can easily stow it, unlike the DLT which you’ll need to lug all troop. Also, consider where you’re going to be trooping. I can’t speak for NSW, but in VIC many of the public places are becoming weaponless troops - further to that IIRC hospital and the likes of Ronald McDonald House are weaponless as well.

Indoor troops vary, but space is generally limited, and a large weapon (and backpack if you’re doing a HWT, Magma or Sandy) becomes uncomfortably unwieldy (think of a packed Oz Comicon or SupaNova venue). We’re also finding our booth space is being limited more and more down here, and at the last Con we pretty much told troopers to stow all gear, including weapons they couldn’t carry, in their cars.

    HTH

  6. Purely for completeness: a final update to close out this build thread.

    TK27777 reporting for duty!

After 2 years this build is finally over. I was approved earlier this week. I’ve still got a few wearability enhancements to make (studs, remove more return edge, helmet fans, and of course my blaster), but probably won’t take this kit beyond L1 (never say never ).

Thanks go to those in the group who provided advice and guidance. There’ve been many, too many to mention individually, build threads I’ve followed and taken nuggets from. Off the top of my head though,@Kman,@Ukswrath,@Cricket,@themaninthesuitcase (I know I’ve typed that wrong... again!),@Rat Ferrel... if I’ve failed to mention you, don’t take offence, I’m pretty forgetful lol

Instead of loading this post with my submission photos, here’s the one my Garrison used

P.s. how do I get Detachment access/status updated? I can’t seem to post in the “sign off” forum.

  7. I have a stupid Question..

Do I have to be a member of a Garrsion?

    I travel alot..

I live in japan but travel to UK, AUS, Singapore and Hong Kong

    Hi Dan

I’m a member of Knightfall Garrison, in Melbourne, Australia.

We have several interstate and international members who regularly troop with us. If you travel to Melbourne with your kit, look up our site, join the forum and say hey.

  8. I 100% recommend getting the special pliers for the snaps of you can. Makes doing a snap a 5 second job.

100% agree. I think it may have been you that put me onto the Prym (?) products through one of your posts. Haven’t looked back since getting one of their tools.
