  1. Great post, althoughI don't think anyone but Rubies could make a bucket big enough for Alfred E. Newmans' head!
  2. Yes, you want to stay away from anything silicone based, as it is not paintable. If the space you mentioned is small, you can use Testors contour putty, available at any hobby shop. If it is a little larger, you can try Bondo glazing/spot putty, available at Lowe's or Home depot. (Thanks to Dark CMF for the advice). I ended up using both on my build, and both can be sanded and painted. Just be sure to let then cure for 24 hrs. Hope this helps!
  3. Hi! I wanted to let anyone doing a build know about this sand"paper" I bought at Lowe's. It is made from what looks like silicone, (you can wad it up and it springs back to shape). The cool thing is that you can bend it around anything, (its super-thin), and it seems to last forever! I used one small 4x6 sheet, and finished my entire Doopydoos E-11, my grappling hook, as well as another small project, and it still looks like new. I think it will be perfect for getting in the small teeth holes, (it doesn't tear), as well as the eye openings, etc. of my armor build I start tomorrow. I bought the 220 fine grit, but they may make different types. It is called Sandblaster Pro from 3M, and costs about 4 bucks for a 4 pack. Hope this helps someone!
  4. On the edge of my seat here, Tony! Episode II coming up shortly?
  5. Just what I needed to know! I put a LOT of time into modding this piece, now I just have to clean it up. I appreciate all the info.!!
  6. GOOD HEAVENS! I haven't even received my armor yet, (2 more days), and now I have something else that I cannot help but building! I am almost finished with my made from scratch grappling hook, (yes, I am going for stunt, but it is SOOO cool, I just gotta own one). Thank you, Tony!
  7. Thank you, Snaps, (and Quandan for posting this)! I was wondering the same thing!
  8. Yeah, gotta remove it and clean it up for sure. That "under" spray is driving me crazy! I just needed to know if I would have to replace the numbers to eventually apply for Centurion.
  9. I suppose you are right, Matthew. I think the staff at Lowe's, (my toy store) would get a kick out of it!
  10. Hi! Just finished up my Doopydoos mod, and think there may be a problem.. For the numbers on the HC, I dis-assembled 2 "golf counter" clickers, hollowed out the back of the counter, made a face-plate, and mounted the number wheels inside with a clear plastic cover. I fully realize that this is not canon, but will it suffice to eventually get to Centurion, or will I have to go another route? (And yes, it needs a bit of tweaking, the back spray-paint got underneath the edges). Many thanks for all input! Sorry about the picture size, but I am still learning to do this!
  11. Question answered, Brian, and Thank You! Anyone want to buy a pauldron? One owner, zero miles.
  12. Hi! I was wondering if those with experience could let me know the proper etiquette concerning pauldrons. I ordered/received one, (black), but there seems to be some debate on when it is appropriate to wear it. When I eventually get out on a troop, I don't want to look like the "odd TK out", but to be honest, I just like the look of it. Any thoughts? Thanks as always!
  13. I broke down and bought the larger size Husky. Plus, like I said, it can double as a changing room!
  14. Or at least a drink named after him at the Mos Eisley canteen! Strange that this post should come up, as I was about to ask about the same thing... THANKS!
  15. Thanks! Pete: REALLY like the look the small Husky box. Could you take a second and let me know what size it is? I believe they go by gallons. Tim: I feel ya', brother, about "babying" your armor, and have actually thought about making some kind of felt "slipcovers". Being borderline OCD is no troop in the park, believe me!
  16. Looks like I will now have a project for today, and THANKS for the info!
  17. No, Sarah, it won't work for Centurion... It's more fun to build your own, though!
  18. Hi! My armor gets here next week, and I just got the dreaded "Where are you store all this stuff when you're not using it"? question. Ouch. So, I promptly went to Lowe's, where I found a heavy duty plastic toolbox, with 2 wheels and a lock, but it was big enough to hold a Fiat, (or double as a changing room). Can anyone recommend a specific brand/size of something along these lines? Basically just big enough to hold my armor, bucket, and supplies, and yet not need it's own zip code? Thanks in advance for saving my marriage!
  19. Yes, as T-Jay said, they sell out quickly, BUT, they usually re-stock fairly fast... Also, I would recommend having them "email you when they come in" in the area provided. The only thing is, when they DO email you, it will not be one that says "They are back in stock". It will simply be a blank. Go to the site immediately and order it... trust me. I waited one day, and they were sold out again, so the whole process started over. I would also ask them to PLEASE send you a tracking number when you order. Hope you have a great time on your build, and don't be afraid to ask questions!
  20. I think the 9 people "watching" this are members of the Rebellion, looking for something to use as target practice. I mean, someone needs to put this poor thing out of it's misery.
  21. Thanks for converting everything to inches, gazmosis! Locitus has a GREAT post with all the measurements, but, alas, we in the U.S. have not fully embraced the metric system yet. Perhaps some intrepid American TK could translate his entire list in one place.
  22. Hey Tim, as far as the tears/traps and tube stripes, I ordered painting templates from Trooperbay. That way, they will be actually "hand painted", without the copious amounts of diet Mountain Dew I consume affecting my dexterity. I may have to go cold turkey for a week before attempting the ear bar trim, though... I start my build next Wednesday, and looking forward to yours!
