Pauldrons, or not?
justjoseph63 replied to justjoseph63's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I suppose you are right, Matthew. I think the staff at Lowe's, (my toy store) would get a kick out of it! -
Hi! Just finished up my Doopydoos mod, and think there may be a problem.. For the numbers on the HC, I dis-assembled 2 "golf counter" clickers, hollowed out the back of the counter, made a face-plate, and mounted the number wheels inside with a clear plastic cover. I fully realize that this is not canon, but will it suffice to eventually get to Centurion, or will I have to go another route? (And yes, it needs a bit of tweaking, the back spray-paint got underneath the edges). Many thanks for all input! Sorry about the picture size, but I am still learning to do this!

Pauldrons, or not?
justjoseph63 replied to justjoseph63's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Question answered, Brian, and Thank You! Anyone want to buy a pauldron? One owner, zero miles. -
Hi! I was wondering if those with experience could let me know the proper etiquette concerning pauldrons. I ordered/received one, (black), but there seems to be some debate on when it is appropriate to wear it. When I eventually get out on a troop, I don't want to look like the "odd TK out", but to be honest, I just like the look of it. Any thoughts? Thanks as always!

Armor storage/box query..
justjoseph63 replied to justjoseph63's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I broke down and bought the larger size Husky. Plus, like I said, it can double as a changing room! -
Or at least a drink named after him at the Mos Eisley canteen! Strange that this post should come up, as I was about to ask about the same thing... THANKS!

Armor storage/box query..

Thanks! Pete: REALLY like the look the small Husky box. Could you take a second and let me know what size it is? I believe they go by gallons. Tim: I feel ya', brother, about "babying" your armor, and have actually thought about making some kind of felt "slipcovers". Being borderline OCD is no troop in the park, believe me! -

where to get a e-11 full kit
justjoseph63 replied to marvalouslegend's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
No, Sarah, it won't work for Centurion... It's more fun to build your own, though! -
Hi! My armor gets here next week, and I just got the dreaded "Where are you store all this stuff when you're not using it"? question. Ouch. So, I promptly went to Lowe's, where I found a heavy duty plastic toolbox, with 2 wheels and a lock, but it was big enough to hold a Fiat, (or double as a changing room). Can anyone recommend a specific brand/size of something along these lines? Basically just big enough to hold my armor, bucket, and supplies, and yet not need it's own zip code? Thanks in advance for saving my marriage!

where to get a e-11 full kit

Yes, as T-Jay said, they sell out quickly, BUT, they usually re-stock fairly fast... Also, I would recommend having them "email you when they come in" in the area provided. The only thing is, when they DO email you, it will not be one that says "They are back in stock". It will simply be a blank. Go to the site immediately and order it... trust me. I waited one day, and they were sold out again, so the whole process started over. I would also ask them to PLEASE send you a tracking number when you order. Hope you have a great time on your build, and don't be afraid to ask questions! -

I think the 9 people "watching" this are members of the Rebellion, looking for something to use as target practice. I mean, someone needs to put this poor thing out of it's misery. -

Widths of Elastic/Webbing?

Thanks for converting everything to inches, gazmosis! Locitus has a GREAT post with all the measurements, but, alas, we in the U.S. have not fully embraced the metric system yet. Perhaps some intrepid American TK could translate his entire list in one place. -
Joblesspunk's Ap Stormtrooper Build
justjoseph63 replied to JoblessPunk's topic in ANH Build Threads
Hey Tim, as far as the tears/traps and tube stripes, I ordered painting templates from Trooperbay. That way, they will be actually "hand painted", without the copious amounts of diet Mountain Dew I consume affecting my dexterity. I may have to go cold turkey for a week before attempting the ear bar trim, though... I start my build next Wednesday, and looking forward to yours! -
Good call! And, in his "neck of the woods", so to speak!

Try the thread "The various types of armor, and where to find them"...

Hi Aleski! I would HIGHLY recommend going to the "Getting Started" forum on the main page. They have a list of "vetted" (reputable) armor makers, and a list of ones to steer clear of. Do a LOT of research before you commit to buy anything, avoid ebay, and if you have questions, ask them on here. Half the fun of this whole thing is assembling your TK armor yourself, and there are thousands of reference pictures and tuorials to help you. I wish you the best of luck!!

Good call, Chris! I forgot that I bought my Hasbro upgrade on the 'bay (before I bought the full kit from their site). Funny thing is, it took only 9 days to get here when I used ebay.

Using Plasti Dip for the interior
justjoseph63 replied to TK852's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I was thinking the same thing, Rafe, but apparently there are a lot of people doing it, and so far no negative comments. (Plus, it just looks cool)! I think I am going to start with a layer of white Plasti-dip after sanding, and then go to the black. I would suggest taping off everything you don't want coated, (frown holes, eyes, etc.). I am also going to be adding electronics, so I will need to tape off the area where they will be attached, then, let it air out for a week or so. I am guessing that trooping with a massive headache or hallucinations from the fumes would ruin a perfectly good day. -
Need AM 2.0 chest plate photo please...
justjoseph63 replied to justjoseph63's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
PERFECT! Thanks so much, Tim, I appreciate this! -
I found that apparently they sell out quickly, but there is an area where the price is that you can sign up for notification. Just know that their "notification" is simply an email from them with no content, which you will need to respond to immediately by going BACK on the site and ordering it. (I waited a day, and they were sold out again). Also, be prepared to hurry up and wait. It took 30 days for mine to get here to FL., and they aren't big on communicating. Well worth the price, though. If you are planning on modding it, you can check out some of the fantastic builds on here, and get everything ready for when it arrives, as I did. (Recommended). Hope you have a great time building it, and best of luck!
