  1. Thanks for the updates, Bill and Germain!
  2. You will need to get basic approval from your local Garrison first, Shawn. After that, you can apply for EIB. Once your EIB is approved, then you can apply for Centurion! On a side note, when you take your measurements for RS, be sure to wear tight fitting clothes.
  3. Don't be sorry, Matt. This is one of the reasons we are here! Like Jc said, it is the opening closest to the wrist, shown in this pic:
  4. Let's look at the facts (as I see them, anyway).. Doopydoos has been supplying E-11 resin kits for quite a long time. Completely acceptable, and although not always available, they are a tried and true supplier. Now, Vern comes along and calls you out on your molds, and rightly so. There is no doubt in my mind that you are re-casting. Where there is smoke, there is fire. I have researched your posts, and I noticed that it is obvious that the only interest you have in the FISD is to sell your wares, and nothing more. No mention of armor, no "welcome to the FISD",..nothing. It seems, in my humble opinion, that you are only looking to take advantage of the new members that are not aware that that recasting is a bad thing, and that there are more options available to them. Vern and Mathias have light years ahead of you in experience in this field, and should be heeded in this subject as such.
  5. That must have been an AWESOME troop! Not quite sure how you managed to get photo #4, but very, very cool! My apologies in advance, but I couldn't help altering the pic of Lord Vader on that Z-74 Speeder bike. Thanks for sharing!
  6. That could very well be the greatest response to the "bad aim" comment EVER! Danged moisture farmers.....
  7. To be honest, Josh, you may have a hard time selling the Rubies helmet on here. You could always try to list it on one of the auction sites, or better yet, turn it into a piece of artwork! The possibilities are endless!
  8. I LOVE photobombs! Chris also was right on the money when he mentioned that small kids will often be apprehensive, or even scared when they see you. What I do personally when I see this is to raise my arm, and slowly wave my fingers up and down, as if say "hello"! I also tilt my head to the side a bit, or do something funny to set them at ease. The high five or fist bump also helps a lot! Speaking of which, I learned a cool thing from a fellow trooper... he does the "exploding" fist bump, then says "ALDERAAN"... (The kids may not get it, but the grown-ups certainly do). Not advisable if there is a "Princess Leia" character anywhere near, though...
  9. I know mine certainly are!. You might want to PM Tony (ukswrath) and ask him.
  10. All Garrisons, Squads, and outposts are listed here, Muneeb: http://www.501st.com/members/displayUnits.php#garrisons
  11. Some great advice from Jeff there! A few things you might want to remember on your first (and all troops for that matter) are: 1. Be prepared- Double (and triple) check your armor and make sure you have all your accessories before leaving your house, and be hydrated! I would suggest carrying a small repair kit in your bin as well, with items like white duct tape, CA glue with accelerator, etc. There is a great thread here for this: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/tutorials/article/45-chookabooms-emergency-troop-kit/ 2. BE ON TIME. When you sign up for a troop, they will have an arrival time, (usually an hour or do before), and a "step off" time. The hour gives you the chance to get your armor on, and make any adjustments. If there are no "handlers", any fellow trooper will be glad to help you help you out. The POC (point of contact) person for the troop will give you any details you might need beforehand, (directions, special notes). Feel free to ask them any specific questions. 3. Be aware of you surroundings- Due to the limited visibility in a bucket, watch out for curbs, steps, obstacles, children, etc. Also, be patient when people ask for photos, especially children. Often, they will ask "Can I hold your gun"? That is entirely up to you. A lot of us have spent a great deal of time building our weapons, and they (especially the resin cast) can be damaged if dropped. Many of us carry Hyperfirms for this reason. (Side note): Always remember to NEVER point your weapon at a child for any reason, not even for a photo. It's just tasteless. Try to answer the call of nature before suiting up. (Trust me). Just as Jeff said, volunteering to be a handler while you wait will give you invaluable insights, and you will also get the chance to meet some of your fellow 501st members. Most of all have fun!
  12. Marv still has them available, I believe.. Try this link: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/16395-t-track/
  13. As far as I am aware, bubble lenses are only approved in ANH Hero, (required for level 2 and above) and ROTJ (required for level 3).
  14. I would suggest checking out some of the Centurion submission threads, Andy, and you can use this as an easy reference, http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/21465-anh-stunt-legion-centurion-visual-checklist/. After seeing your building skills in the DLT-19 photos, I definitely see a Centurion badge in your near future!
  15. Good enough to troop with? WOW! This specimen of craftsmanship is good enough to display, Andy!! I would love to have seen a build thread for this, as you obviously take great pride in your work, so I am thinking your armor is going to be a masterpiece! Great job, sir, and thanks for sharing.
  16. How much padding do you have in the top of your helmet, Hank? I just remembered that I had a problem with the "bobble-head" look, until I finally realized that I had used 1 inch thick foam. I reduced it down to 1/4 inch, and the difference was amazing. (I could actually see out of the eye openings)!
  17. Way to go, Mark! You have a nice, clean build, and I think you are going to have that Centurion badge under your name before you know it, sir. I did notice the under suit as well, but that is something super easy to remedy.
  18. I wouldn't recommend using any kind of paint inside your bucket.. I would go with the Plasti-Dip, as most others, (including myself) have. As long as you let it dry for a day or so, there will be no fumes. As for the E-6000, the only part of the bucket you should be using that for is to glue the ear bars onto the ear piece, which is sealed. The amount of Testors paint used on a bucket will honestly be of no consequence after it dries thoroughly, and it is on the outside... As for the person that told you "All paint is going to be bad for you...." should re-think their line of work. They sell... PAINT. Interior paint. As used on the walls, doors, ceilings, etc. inside your home, and you breathe them all the time. People (especially model enthusiasts) have been using Testors for years, and as long as you don't "abuse" it, you should be fine. Many brands of paints used in homes, like Sherwin Williams, have a "low VOC" (volatile organic compounds) line, which seriously cuts down on fumes/molecular emissions.
  19. Wow... it may just be me, but that looks like a really rough pull.
  20. I think you may be onto something, Jeff... I noticed this at breakfast this morning. Kinda spooky...
