  1. Jeez! Just an armor factory going on right now!! Nice work!
  2. Thanks! Looking at the pics again, I think i might need to make the vocoder part a bit higher.... but I'm not sure.
  3. Ok, Here is some progress on the faceplate: The left Aerator looks wierd, I think I'll fill some of that up... The mouth will need some sharpening-up, and sanded. Oh yeah, and teeth... The rest is just final sanding, I think... What do you think about the lower half of the face as of right now?
  4. Dangit. Oh well. Better luck next time. LOL
  5. Thanks guys! Yup, I fixed the dome up a little bit... Among other things.... The back. I also ended up filling the marks I made for the trapezoids. I'm starting that over soon... The side... I'm bringing back Bell-Bottoms!! The ears are just about done. I just need to do some final sanding work... Oh, little disclaimer. The ear on the right looks smaller, but in reality it isn't... I guess the angle was off... Almost ready to be formed. What do you think? Reference. Oh yes. THANK YOU STARWARSHELMETS.COM!! And..... woa *wipes sweat from face*... The "Face" The face is getting a complete rework. I'm working from the bottom up. I'll show pics probably of the bottom progress, then the top, then the two parts coming together. ooo boy. Wish me luck!
  6. Aw, nothing?? I thought I'd have some feedback by now... I did some more mods to the cap to give it the correct shape. I would post some pics, but my camera is dead... I'll post tomorrow. I'm also working on the faceplate, too...
  7. Hehe, sounds like what I did in order to get the thumbprint in my biceps. LOL. Only mine was bondo putty
  8. Yes, Kylon Fusion under Rustoluem mixes very well. They don't react to each other at all. And, you get that BEAUTIFUL rustoleum finish in the end!
  9. "Hear" are the ears (Sorry about that........... ) Ok, the ears have been worked on a long time ago..... The first one is thone that is, I think, closest to completion. I need to work on a bit more final sanding and filling, and I need to work on the height of the curvature... (looking at the level-table view...) Let me know what you think!
  10. Ok, so I've been working on the dome and back for a stormtrooper helmet, and I have some pics and a few questions.... Oh, and I've been working on the ears, too... Ok.... If the whole thing looks a bit taller than normal, that's because as of right now, it kinda is. The bottom of the back to the top of the cap is about 1 inch taller than my AP(ish) helmet. I'm thinking it's got something to do with the fact that my dome is more round than most helmets as of right now. Stormtrooper domes are more trapezoidal (if that's a word...), and less of a perfect dome... So i'll probably end up taking some plaster off the top there to give it that shape. As for the back, I think it turned out GREAT! I was gonig for the earlier "bell-shape" mentioned in Jezz's website. I'm looking to try to get this helmet as accurate as possible. And as for the little trapazoids in the dome... just starting out there, and used my AP(ish...) helmet as a guide for sizing and positioning. I also have loads of reference pics as well, most of which I can thank Jezz for! Ok, so that's the Cap and Dome Run-down... Now for my questions.... First, HOW ON EARTH DO YOU PULL THIS THING AS ONE PIECE??? I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how you armor-makers do that! If anyone can help me out on this one, a pic of the mold and/or raw pull would be of MUCH HELP... Thanks in advance.... Second, Anyone else have any more advice for me? This is why I posted this, mainly to get advice on building and sculpting this, so all comments, ideas, and/or concerns are welcome! Oh yeah, about those nicks and stuff in the finish, that will probably get sanded/filled... On to the Ears!
  11. Go with Krylon FUSION gloss white paint, followed by Rustoleum GLOSS white in the regular, plain-sized can. Works PERFECTLY for making HIPS glossy. The triple thick clear glaze is TOO THICK, and runs easily. It also yellows the finish A LOT...
  12. Hey, don't worry about it! I kinda dig the smell too. My family thinks I'm insane, though...
  13. OH, the Cob-Job-ness! I like it!! LOL Still thinking of a SIGNATURE paintjob, though....
  14. LOL, thanks! I'd love to jam, but I'm in a band (or two... If the other one ever gets off the ground... )... YES. EVH would be sweet!! =VH=
  15. LOL thanks guys.... Oh, I'm just screwin around on this thing... phsycotrophic: The synth I'm controlling is a KORG R3 Hardware synthesizer. The lead/solo sound is one that I built with a sawtooth waveform, portamento, and delay. It's a nice gritty KEYTAR tone. Perfect for metal solos... Thanks, guys! This thing is fun! I'll post updates on any mods I make to the paint or structure... I think I'll post some pics sometime, too.
  16. Yes... I made this myself out of a 61 key MIDI controller, some plasticfor a handle, paint, and a LOT OF PATIENCE... I finally finished it... I was thinking of EVH stripes for the body, though... What do you think?
  17. Mixed some acrylic paints together, and I got that wierd little silvery effect... It's the same with the ears.
  18. HOLY cow, that's the SAME guy I bought my helmet from!! Got is on eBay, waited half a year for it to arrive, and when it did it came in a cardboard beer-box. It's an AP recast... Here's mine after some work on it...------------ They can turn out pretty nice. I GOTTA trim out those eyes, though....
  19. I made this myself out of 3/4" plywood. I measured my body and transferred the measurements to the sheet, cut them out, and added fabric as muscles and meat. (if i had any... LOL)
  20. Without the armor and jumpsuit, it's just a frame of plywood, duct tape, and fabric. Really kind of a cob job... LOL Thanks for the feedback, guys!
  21. Man, I'm tall.... It's Just a bummer I can't pose him very much. It's still cool to have a LIFE size action figure of ME! At the same time, It's kinda creepy... I still sleep in the same room as this guy, though. I just tell myself, "It's just wood and fabirc, Just wood and Fabric..." LOL But, this is REALLY handy. I've got a lot more space in my room now. WOW. I'm tall..... LOL Made this out of a 4'x4' sheet of plywood, bolts, nails, staples, fabric and duct tape... BUT it s REALLY sturdy, so that's all that really matters... TOTAL COST, about $40. NICE and cheap, and SEMI posable. I've got just the arms posable. I really like this, because now I can see just how nice this armor can be. I can adjest the parts on a form similar to my build, and take nicer pictures for you guys when I go to mod again.
  22. WOW! THAT'S how to mod a helmet... HEAVILY... You're my hero.
