  1. dude, open the eyes up a lot more...
  2. aw jeez, tony you had to say it.... LOL but yeah, this is a nice mod. i usually duct tape a ziplock bag in my chest or abs...
  3. that's also true!
  4. WOW, that's a nice blaster! I dunno, but you folks in the UK have it MADE!
  5. Alright, I gotta get in this......
  6. That sounds like a lot of fun! Sounds like you would do just perfect to fit the part you are looking for. Keep at it!
  7. huh. that's crazy! LOL If anything, I would think one would try to fire it in an oven or something, at least then it's warm for the plastic to grab on to... but, then again.... i dunno. This meathod worked, but i just put a little more work on the table... oh well... that's life.
  8. Yup! Another thing about the clay I used, it has sulfur which inhibits the cure of silicone. this was really a one-time thing... I'll try my hardest to bring them back!
  9. well... since i had plastic on hand, i decided that this would be more economical. plus, i'm totally down with a little sanding, shaving, and trimming to bring out the details. yes, these details are VERY soft, which is why i plan on doing LOTS of sanding... I could have used silicon, but that would have required waiting on shipping, something i'm aweful at doing. all about availability. thanks for the advice/critisism, though!
  10. i vac-formed the clay molds, and backfilled them with plaster (kinda like the ROTJ helmet process). from these molds, i'll be sanding, filling, and modifying the molds to make them look better. lots of work to do, but it's easier than starting with a solid block and grinding it down!
  11. Thanks man! hey, got the parts in plaster now: hot, greasy, and smooth. this is my first plaster casting experience!! the ears are gonna be tough to bring back, but it can be done. the face is going to be pretty tough as well to get all the details back, and make it better again. the back and dome will be VERY easy... well, with that said, anybody have any suggestions on how the trooper faceplate should look? enjoy!
  12. Awww, shucks! yea, I've already done a suit and some other things... now, i just gotta track down some plaster......
  13. I think what i'll use is an air compressor, and it works fairly well, I've seen it! Well, I've been looking at the face, and comparing it to the other faces out there, mine needs some (a lot) of work! The good news is all of it can be adressed in the next part of building the molds.
  14. AWESOME! I LOVE AP armor!
  15. seriously i agree^ but nice mods so far. the suit just needs a little love...
  16. I sure did bro! here's what it looks like now: Back and two ears. The Back was fairly straightforward, and the ears took no time at all... Close up of the ears. They didn't turn out too bad, they will be fine! Here's the cap. Also, VERY easy, just built a wood core, and built clay around it. something like paul's idea with the cap (blaxmyth) AND........ The Face: HOW i got the face out is a good question, I don't even know how! the teardrops are different, but i can touch that up... and the the overall finish is something like oatmeal, but its a nice rough draft! also, the chin needs work, and the teeth will need redone and touched up. now to get some plaster. 8) Enjoy, let me know what you think!
  17. Thanks guys! Yay! i just gotta get a TINY bit more clay on there, and then i can do the mods, amd be ready for a "final" form. PEACE
  18. Well.... I did the easy parts already, the ears, the back, and the dome, and vacuformed the pieces. What i plan on doing then with the styrene shell is to backfill it with plaster (something tougher than dried clay), and sanding, filling, and doing the final touches for a final form. SO... Now, I'm doing the faceplate.... I think I'm doing ok for a rough form. I've got 5 teeth, and the little detail in the teardrop (which is a little pill-shaped feature inside the little teardrop, something discussed elsewhere in the boards). As of right now, I know i have to: 1. REDO the teardrop. the bottom needs to be parallel! 2. Look at the teeth a little closer. i think i need to adjust the spacing. 3. Add more to the top of the mold!! So, without further ado, here's the current faceplate: And, with some more clay for the base: It's really rough (and not done) at the moment, but it's getting there! I didn't know where to start at first, so i just did the tubes first, and then worked my way up. I just used my AP helmet as reference, along with some pics from books, and the internet (ESPECIALLY starwarshelmets.com ). like i said, it still needs work.... but i think i'm getting there! any mods or constructive critisism is welcome! will post pics soon of the other parts formed. as of now, i just gotta finish this up and cast the other parts in plaster and i can start cranking them out (hopefully). Enjoy!
  19. Does this refer to THIS by chance? The Bell-Like curvature on THESE helmets? And what happened to this curve over time? I don't see it too much on other stormtrooper helmets, just on these earlier sandtrooper helmets. I think this would be a good question for Jez, because he coined the phrase (it's on his website, that is...) Just curious because I'm making a helmet of my own, and want it to look close to the early, fresh, and UN-recast helmets. Thanks!
  20. spot on. it's usually pretty difficult to tell the difference between somebody's ESB suit and ANH suit. you got it spot on! i think it's because the hands are up with the helmet, which makes you realize it's an ESB suit. NICE!
  21. if these are ever produced again in a run, i will be interested. are these used for hero hands as well? or just stunt? or BOTH?
  22. he's right. PVC is NASTY stuff. don't use it to form aromr. use ABS. now, ABS is also pretty narly, so ventilate your work space... HIPS is the friendlier stuff.
