  1. I'll start gluing them! thanks TM! you can never learn enough! I'm still a little wary of cutting the elastic like that tho!
  2. I have never seen any information regarding drop box elastic being glued to the belt. can this be shown? or is this just an educated guess? and I have seen that photo before.
  3. looks like FX to me? the helmet is different.
  4. looks closer than the ROTJ version. from the photos only the bayonet lug area the end cap and folding stock would need upgrades.
  5. if only it could look exactly like this. With all the talent here, I'd bet someone could make a mold as quick enough to actually wear it to the film, if we only had the real deal to work with!
  6. I like to call him "extra ammo" trooper.
  7. the front should be 1" and the back can be 1- 1.5 inches for the cover strips. you need to have room to move, as has been said before the Thumb rule means that you should be able to stick your thumb into the armor when it's on. the armor in the film was only made to the same size. you look closely and only some minor mods were done on troopers in the film. 1. if you have short arms then they did cut off extra at the front of the elbow. 2. biceps were also sometimes inside the shoulder bell completely on short armed troopers 3 thighs and shins are all the same size, and some troopers are bigger, and some slightly smaller. I Think people look their best when they have room to move apparent in the fit of the armor.
  8. put some foam at the back of the thigh, it helps. and some at the front of the shin. reduces knee pop.
  9. I like it in white for armor. fool proof. I still use clear tho.
  10. I use the belt itself as the guide. center belt on plastic armor. have holes drilled on plastic armor as points of attachment. mark belt at hole locations though plastic belt. note where each box is located lift the belt and mark in the center of the belt the center of each end box. using a hole punch tool, or a punch and anvil punch the belt at each location. mount plastic belt onto belt with chicago screws. take belt assembly and center belt with plastic in place over AB. mark hole positions for snaps on ab. punch holes in ab at locations marked, install snaps. glue covers over chicago screws. slip on drop box elastics between the snap and the screw. done.
  11. the brass split rivets go on the side of the AB and front of cod. the silver cap rivets go on the sides of the thigh ammo pack. the small jeans snaps for the canvas belt to AB connection (not pictured) the small white elastic and hooks are for the shins, and the bars and brackets get placed around the torso.
  12. there is a company that uses a water jet to cut foam. For all those who follow Tim the tool man taylor. binford has helmet foam cutting tools 1200 usd
  13. band saw on foam?
  14. I make a template out of cardboard and press down on the foam. then a box cutter does the trick
  15. wow looks exactly like mine!
  16. I use a larger version and it completely covers the screws thanks marv... I make tons of foam liners if anybody wants one. 9 plus shipping
  17. sci fire is the only seller of ROTJ based parts I will be making them
  18. the boy in exchange for parts. credits will not do!
  19. I love RS armor. the original brackets do fine for some, other's have experiences breakage just like in the original film. finding a way to keep movement to a minimum might be an answer, as well as care in handling you have to know how to carefully handle, carry wear and pack original strapped armor, since it does not come apart. this adds pressures and stress to the chest bottom and abdomen top.
  20. ask them. they have a website. http://www.rspropmasters.com/shop/
  21. during the production of the film AA used trim on the helmets to make them stronger at the edge. the boat/ fountain, and car maker that he was, he just simply used rubber trim from industrial sources. http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/shopping.asp?intDepartmentId=4
  22. got you covered if you need hep
