  1. but 19 is not the final dimension... it's just on the ruler, but the blaster does not extend to 19"
  2. hope your birthday was as sweet as when you sent me trooper stuff for my birthday! cheers!
  3. as long as you follow your instincts then you should be fine. I provided the drawing from the plans on the web... hope that helped... have fun! The measurements you mention does not fully just cover the length of the tube. those measurements have the end cap, and folding stock front included in that length. if you look closely at the plan provided you can see the length of the tube, and it properly shows that the folding stock extends in front. so if you made the tube 481mm then the tube would be too long...
  4. well... you have to account for the hollow end cap.
  5. I make the tube 18 3/8. when it has the end cap on. so it's about 18 and 3/8 plus the added extra for the end cap. with the folding stock front hinge extended about 1/4 " beyond the front of the barrell. and you need to keep in mind that the end cap needs about 1/2 " overlap to fit on. so really the total length is a bit longer than 18 and 3/4 -------------
  6. actually that does not look half bad. the only drawback is the thickness of the helmet itself. most likely this is a re-cast of the TE line.
  7. actually he's just wearing my kit. his kit has not arrived in the mail yet. this was a show and tell armor party. he's really stoked that his kit is going to fit about the same. I'll be making his belt, blaster and holster. photos of his blaster build will start very soon. his holster is almost complete as well.
  8. it was rockin! he did the armor choice on his own. will be nice to make another AP kit for a friend. ah... the armor cutting will begin. AP, ATA. AP.. and ata stealth. it's been a busy week. ============== we had fun putting my armor on ryan, and talked about armor with a few of his family members. he has ordered the same style kit as mine (AP) and was excited to see that it fit his body type pretty well. I'll be traveling up to redding and helping him get his kit sorted out, and we'll have another trooper with my fingerprints on his kit in a few more weeks.
  9. getting really nice looking in here! the thickness of the brow trim, and the look of the quality of the lenses...
  10. rt mod with a tm bucket
  11. you can also find rechargable 9 volts these days.
  12. she's the one to get good advice on handplates! that's for sure...
  13. wouldn't it be even cooler if the fans and mic were integrated along with parts that actually work? just a thought. ---------- here's my guess at component locations? red: fan intake assembly and skirting draws air in to be blown from blue area. blue: air intake on the frown with, and exhaust at the blue on the sides. exhaust goes out the hovies along with radio broadcast. green: broadcast speakers and air exhaust. yellow: mic input (other sides would also dispense liquids in a stream into the mouth. ear pads of course would be speaker enclosures. can anyone offer more suggestions? I think this is awesome to have a centralized design. could you link to some images in the dictionary? I'd love to see them here... sweet... this looks like a great concept. fun to discuss...
  14. you know mark... this type of comment is negative in it's content. I was trying to offer some personal one on one help. what is the main problem here sir? 20 25 and 15? is that really the sizes in MM? that seems a little large? and we obviously have a point of confusion here... 30mm? 25mm? that's brian's dimensions for his AM build. to cover the proportions, and his personal body type. I don't have any desire to make every thread comment I make into a public debate.
  15. the ATA kit strikes back!
  16. wow joe! those are great photos! I always like to leave a small return on the lips of the inside of the teeth. making the cutouts all the same depth if you can. it gives the teeth a little depth.
  17. if you lay on too much paint it will be rubbery. you have to keep it thin. and then burnish it, and wax it. that's what I did. I used the primer as a "filler" to lay on several coats to be able to sand off bumps and waves in the plastic. valspar runs very quickly. can be a little hard to get a pop gel coat like the appliance epoxies. if you lay it on too thick it will act like a rubber coating rather than a plastic paint. that's my experience so far with valspar paints.
  18. I think overall the suit looks good... I think that the pack is a little large in scale. just a little oversized? I really like the cannon.
  19. dude... can I have a hit from that?
  20. even in the TE thread mike had to re-drill his cheek points. his helmet builds are really stellar! the main mistake that can be made is to not align the faceplate and the back cap properly. the angle, and position really vary in your personal preferance on your brow height and the positioning really changes when you concentrate the pressure only at the screw points. it's one thing to hold in your hands. but quite another to have it all push with the right pressures. each bucket has it's own little differences... you usually don't need to fill any of the holes created with these mistakes... just let em be!
  21. I just bent mine out of aluminum.
  22. ::I can't see,I can't fight... with the blast shield down, how am I supposed to shoot those little rebel robot thingys.:: handlers can be a blessing or a curse... I was expecting to hear horror stories in this thread about handlers who caused a fumble? ya know? like ... "the guy knocked me down on the pavement, and then grabbed my chestplate to pick me up... and then the elastic started getting wider, and wider..." I have had a few funny stories I could tell about my wife, or my drummer friend tryin to be 'hanlers...
  23. actually if you do some crazy math you can figure out the cost of that 22 year old cat. let's see. at .50 cents a can of food, adjusted down from .80 cents to cover the variation in inflation on cat food prices: 2 cans of food ave. per day x 21 years. plus .75c for bits of human food during each day. daily adjusted cost: $1.75 per day. 8,035.32837 days times 1.75 per day equals: $14,061.8246475 so she's almost the 15,000 cat.
  24. little more work on those eyes and ears. then the teeth will go quick!
